Two weeks would be nice... One week would be even better. LOL. Can you tell I'm not very patient? I even considered just getting the 6s but figured id regret it since I currently own the 6 Plus.
Haha, me too! I did reserve the 6S sim free iPhone today but thankfully changed my mind at the last minute. When you've used the 6 Plus for a year it's almost impossible to downgrade to a 6S.

Agreed. whenever I hold the 6S or 6 at the apple store, it's way too small for me, probably because I'm used to holding the 6/S Plus.

Yes I did, I reserved it this morning and picked it up at 10 am my local time.
Lucky! They didn't have any 6S Plus Sim free version at my Apple Store. I might check again at 8am on Monday or Tuesday and just cancel my online order if I can get one.

I'd check tomorrow too as it is possible that someone didn't pick up their reservation.

I managed to reserve the AT&T model on launch weekend at 8 am. But on launch day, they didn't have any. So it's likely the reservation fell through from a customer (i.e denied iUP, or just didn't pick it up, etc).

Sorry for the ignorance, what is the difference in buying the SIM Free vs the unlocked T-Mobile Model?

I got a SIM-Free 64GB Space Gray 6s+ today at noon, paid in full. Walked over to Verizon store to ask for a SIM (my old device had a micro SIM , not a nano SIM). Verizon checked me in, I waited 15 minutes while looking at cases, decided on a sleek Otterbox, and the girl from Verizon installed the SIM and switched over my Unlimited Data Plan to the new phone. Took 5 minutes for the new phone to successfully make a call, and have had no issue since.

FYI, my 6S+ has a Samsung A9

EDIT: the sim from verizon was no cost.

Currently debating if I should go in and exchange my T-Mobile Unlocked 6S Plus for a Sim Free version tomorrow. However, I am afraid that I'll get a Samsung A9, currently have a TSMC one.

For one thing, the SIM free models are the same as the AT&T A1633/34. They have the AT&T Band 30, which the A1688/87 (T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint) models do not have. If you never go to AT&T, it's something you will never miss.

All models will work with AT&T, but Band 30 is supposed to help relieve data congestion in heavily populated areas, from what I've read.

Thanks for the information. Good to know

If the chip is your main concern, I'd keep what you have. ;)

Historically, unlocked phones are more desirable(bigger audience of buyers). The current 6s+ come with different LTE bands depending on carrier. The sim free is guaranteed to work on all carriers networks with the correct sim. So basically its an ATT 6s+ that is not tied to ATT and will reassure any potential buyer it will work without the head ache of being associated with a specific carrier. Its less hassle to resell in a nut shell.
So,SIM-free = unlocked. I have simply used the term unlocked in the past. I guess SIM-free is the current term. Thanks.

I tired to reserve mine this morning, but by the time I was done typing in my reservation code, the 64GBRose Gold was out of stock. I'm going to try tomorrow morning too, otherwise I'll have to patiently wait 2.5 weeks for it to be shipped.

I can get the Gold color since it's available but m really partial to the Rose Gold

I suspect that as the news gets out about the SIM-free models, reservations will be snapped up more quickly.

My brother did me the huge favor to get me a contract free 6S 64GB space gray A1688 and it came unlocked. I was able at the Apple Store to swap SIM. It came with a t-mobile SIN pre-installed, but I put my current active one and worked as well. So I don't think is a big difference if you get the total unlocked version as long as they are unlocked. (The SIM tool can be purchased online for like $5, I have a couple of those lingering around)

You might be right there. I had checked Verizon's BYOD page and entered my T-Mobile purchased IMEI and within days of getting it and it said that it wasn't compatible with their network. I just check again, two weeks later, and right after Apple started selling the SIM-free model and my T-Mobile acquired one's IMEI seems to be accepted by Verizon. Couldn't verify with Sprint because their website says one has to swing by one of their stores to validate the IMEI number. If this is true then this is a relief because I was worried about carrier compatibility when I looked at the back of my box and CDMA compatibility was nowhere to be found even though Under Settings>General>MEID shows up along with IMEI which is the traditional identifier for CDMA carriers.

My T-Mobile unlocked still will not be accepted by Verizon. Hopefully it will soon since I would like to switch. I am considering trying to get the sim free version, but I just passed the 14 day exchange period since I have been traveling, which means I will have to plead for mercy.

LOL guys, don't do it. I swapped my 6S Plus Space Grey 64GB T-Mobile unlocked for a sim-free one. I got the last one in the store from reservation, but ended up with a Samsung chip. I originally had TSMC. Meh...

I bought the T Mobile version about a week and a half ago (to use with Straight Talk) and understand it doesn't have band 30. I didnt think the sim free model would come out for a while which is why I didn't just wait. Pardon my ignorance but I don't know much about LTE bands. The nearest Apple Store is 2 hours away so I really don't want to exchange phones if it isn't worth it. Am I actually really missing out if I don't have band 30 or is it pretty much the same? If it was as simple as walking into the store down the road to exchange them I probably would just because what the hell, I guess I could use an extra band. In all seriousness, am I missing out on anything by not exchanging and getting a phone with band 30? If so I will mail the phone in and exchange it (God forbid I'm without a phone for 2 to 3 weeks).

You don't use AT&T so there's no noticeable difference.
