I bought the T Mobile version about a week and a half ago (to use with Straight Talk) and understand it doesn't have band 30. I didnt think the sim free model would come out for a while which is why I didn't just wait. Pardon my ignorance but I don't know much about LTE bands. The nearest Apple Store is 2 hours away so I really don't want to exchange phones if it isn't worth it. Am I actually really missing out if I don't have band 30 or is it pretty much the same? If it was as simple as walking into the store down the road to exchange them I probably would just because what the hell, I guess I could use an extra band. In all seriousness, am I missing out on anything by not exchanging and getting a phone with band 30? If so I will mail the phone in and exchange it (God forbid I'm without a phone for 2 to 3 weeks).
Band 30 is currently only being used by AT&T which isn't available in all areas anyway. Unless you plan On switching to AT&T in the future I wouldn't worry about trying to switch it out.

It's not worth it. I basically got band 30 but my chip became Samsung (originally had TSMC). Bad tradeoff, I don't think I would have done it. BUT YOLO.

You can always now go back and exchange it at the Apple Store.

If your new iPhone isn't overheating and you're getting good battery life, what difference does the Chip make? When I get mine, I will only exchange it if there is an issue with the phone itself. I don't care what chip comes in it, as long as it works.

You don't use AT&T so there's no noticeable difference.
I do use the AT&T version of the Straight Talk SIM so it may make a difference but it doesn't sound like it would be that much of an upgrade and probably wouldn't make a difference. Thanks for the comments! I'm a little neurotic and had a brief moment of dread that I'd seriously messed up.

That's a fair point, although I haven't thoroughly used it yet. Just exchanged today. But I really hope the rumors flying around are not true. Hopefully the battery life won't be 20% worse...

My suggestion would be to stop reading all the negative threads/posts on this forum during your 14 day period with your new phone. Use it like you did the other one that you had. If it doesn't have any issues, keep it. If you keep reading into all the negative things that are posted on this site, I can guarantee you that you'll never be happy with any iPhone that you get... I'm sure that the one you have now will be perfectly fine. :)

Yeah I realize most of it is just me being paranoid. Idk, but I guess I don't regret swapping for sim-free.

I think the iPhone 7 will be here before there is significant enhancement of capability through Band 30.

By that time, who knows. You might even want Verizon by then.

Now...there is anecdotal evidence beginning to build that we might have issues with WiFi Calling for a while, if we are using the T-Mobile iPhone on AT&T.

I just got back from the Apple Store and they said I couldn't get the sim free with upgrade program. Bc a carrier had to be attached.

Even the manager couldn't over ride it. Has anyone successfully got the sim free with the upgrade program?
