I have several, can't limit it to just 1:

Logmein Ignition
FileBrowser
Atomic
Air Video
myNZB

"Dataman" - does job perfectly for adjusting 3G usage, saves time and money.

"Zinio" - subscribed mags appear just like real magazine reading,gr8 stuff!

Can anybody give me a short explaination of the advantages of LogMe In in comparision to (the much more cheaper) Splashtop Remote? I'm only a very casual remote user and probably won't need a 30 dollar program for this use, but Splashtop seems very fast and functional to me, too, and I am curious ...

A lot of people mention reeder. What is so good about this? I use pulse and pulse mini on my iPad and iPhone. Really like the interface and again it's free.
You can go through hundreds of articles and many feeds very quickly to sort what news you actually want to read. It's, hands down, the best app for a news (RSS) junkie. Pulse is pretty but that also makes going through fees slow and distracting.

Wow. So many. Reeder, ToDo, Beejive, Calculator, 1Password...

But I'm going to go out on a limb here and post something unique. It happens to be my most-used app. I probably "use" it about 8 hours a day:

My Frame. I was going to post a link, but couldn't find it in the app store. It may be gone now. But it's basically a slideshow app that has more options and displays the time, date and weather over the photos. I have this thing running all day long at work.

won't that kill the battery of a laptop though? Having to keep it on and charged in all day every day?

It can wear down a laptop's battery, assuming that...

1. Your primary computer is a laptop (I never want a laptop as my primary machine...I find Desktops to be more..."permanent" in a way.)

2. You have to keep the machine turned on ALL the time because you're never sure when you might want to log in remotely. (Again, this is where a desktop machine would be more useful.)

However, there's nothing keeping you from being able to log in remotely once in awhile if necessary. The only issue I see is - if you have a laptop, why aren't you just bringing THAT with you?

To update my list a bit...the apps I use ALL the time on the iPad:

iCab Mobile (has completely replaced Safari - so much so that I disabled it.)

Beejive (IM)

LogMeIn Ignition

1Password

Air Video

app most used:

Mercury browser: fast, great gui, highly functional multi touch navigation.

...in my book by far better than safari, icab and atomic

other than that: todo from appigo

It's missing soooooo many features compared tom atomic and icab. They're about halfway there.

Gokyu - disabled safari? Tethered jailbreak?

iCab is without doubt my most used browser. I love Zillow.com (free) for looking at Real Estate, ZINIO (free) for all my magazines. Early edition for News and Ebay. :D

#1 is Omnifocus, expensive, but worth it if you live in the GTD world.

Round out the top 5.

iTap RDP
PDF Expert
Note Taker HD
Atomic Web

Nah, I don't JB my iPad - just go to settings -> general -> restrictions

Under "Allow", turn off Safari.

I've gotten a lot of use out of the "This American Life" app that came out a few weeks ago.

It's really well thought out for fans of the radio program.

Yup. +1 on This American Life. The NPR app is also really good.

My other faves are:
Omnifocus
Instapaper
IA Writer
Wolfram Alpha
DJay

Free:
Aweditorioum
Netflix

The Sky mobile tv app for me. Invaluable to keep an eye on footie matches or golf while family together watching other stuff on tv. Keeps me up to date with my interests while not ignoring others

1Password is currently my fav paid app. No longer have to dig in my wallet to get my cc when I want to order something. I'm downloading LogMeIn now and going to give it a spin this evening.

Tapatalk would have to be my favorite one and most happily paid for,I'm always on it for Mac Rumors.

No one yet mentioned Hipstamatic. Best app for Photography hands down and very reasonable (£1.79) in Eng-ger-Land!!

Sorry to jump off the original topic, but how do you make atomic browser your default browser? When I turn off safari as outlined above, web links in emails no longer seem to work. Thanks!

There are too many great apps but I am a huge fan of Wunderlist right now. It has really helped me stay organized at work and at home.

I have quite a few apps that I really enjoy.. I think by far one of my most favorite purchases thus far has to be Blogsy. (http://blogsyapp.com/ ) - blogsy is a blogging application that allows you to write posts for wordpress and blogger. You can also add your flickr to blogsy and directly drag and drop your images into the app. The app costs $2.99 and so far it kicks the official wordpress "app"s ass. The ony downside right now is that you can't upload directly to your blog from the app. But that's coming in an update so I'm not all too worried.

I also really like procreate. It's a drawing application that feels sort of like a photoshop express or something. You can't really do image manipulation, but for drawing it's great. You have layer support, various pen styles and thicknesses. You can load images and textures to use when drawing. I like the feel of it. I just wish they had left handed support for the app when using a stylus. http://wwww.savage.si/procreate

Pulp is the best rss reader for me. I've tried everything else, pulse, reeder, etc, and nothing has given me the same flexibility or elegance.

Runner ups include:
Offline pages is a good companion if you need that (great for flights)

Screens for vnc

Cloud connect pro for afp, FTP, WebDAV access
