That blogger is an anti-free speech fascist, who works for an employer that employs Nazi-esque censorship techniques on their site. Who is he to whine and lecture anybody on anything?
They can even ban you for posting a "boring" comment, it's in their FAQ.
No, I really don't want Flash. I want something that works reliably while not being a resource hog. You're dead wrong about Apple users wanting Flash, in fact, you're wrong about Flash in general. Apple is not the only company developing or helping to develop a Flash replacement.
Same here. There are many out there that just have a psychotic streak who will tear down anything they can get their hands on for lack of achievement in their own life. Sadly, I have seen many "friends" try to take me down when something great happens around me. That is when you don't grandstand, walk away and don't return their phone calls or messages.
These are the same types that bitch about the "rich and powerful" and their "private clubs" that they can't get into. The reality is that those who can't get it are mostly refused on lack of personal integrity and sleazy lifestyles.
And, on another note, I'm a 31 year old man with a gorgeous 26 year old wife, so suffice to say porn is not something I personally require.

If you think this guys arguements where intelligent and viable then it is you that have comprehension problems. It isn't about aligning ones self with companies but rather digesting the facts in the case. The number one fact is that flash sucks and it sucks big time. The second fact is that Adobe is years behind in delivering a viable Flash for the mobile market, Apple has not failed here rather Adobe did. Third there is the reality that Flash often takes 100% of available compute resources, this is very demanding power wise thus killing batteries. None of these issues are unknown in the community so I have to ask why do you align yourself blindly with a pathetic outfit like Adobe?

Even here you are wrong though iPad isn't exactly what I was looking for. IPhone OS and it's Touch interface was the right choice for iPad.

You made a very good point on this: large part of those involved in the media industry have maintained close, comfortable ties to the powers that be. I'm talking about publishers, senior editors, news media executives, TV producers, well-known TV journalist personalities, etc. being on "friendly-cozy level" with very powerful people at high levels of business, politics, academic institutions, and the likes.
That is how content is controlled, "modified", and released to the public or content to be killed to protect those at the top.
For example: you're a powerful US senator sitting on an important Senate committee and you're worrying about some hack reporter, working for a major nationally-known newspaper, trying to score a major story on one little thing that could derail your re-election chances. One private phone call to a senior editor or the publisher is all it takes to control or kill that story.

Wow. What a phenomenally LOW quality of journalism that is at both Gizmodo and Gawker. What a tool Ryan Tate is. He comes across as just some pissed-off kid with a chip on his shoulder about something...he follows the mob, and blogs away about Apple due to the fact it is such a convenient target at the moment.
And porn is most definitely an issue, especially if you have kids. If you don't, then surf away, I don't care. So long as it is virtually impossible for a child to get to it.

Every human being has moral, ethical and legal responsibility. Thus, a company led by human beings has moral, ethical and legal responsibility as well.
The abuse is that they don't allow apps like WiFi-Sync and don't allow other App Stores either, and try to hide that obvious dictatorship / stinginess behind their "freedom of porn" buildup.

Kudos to Jobs. I have kids, work with kids for a living, and have seen the destruction of porn. Jobs thinks the same thing. His value system clearly influences the making of his products. However, placing his value system on a product doesn't then mean he is a fascist. The people who are saying these types of things have no idea what fascism is all about. The iphone and ipod are consumer products. As such they are completely optional for people to buy. There are lots of alternative products for people. If Jobs was a fascist, he would go lobby the government to ensure that all smart-phones and tablet PC's are exactly like his, or he would work to totally (that means 100%) dominate the smart-phone market for the purpose to restrict porn. He is not doing either. He is not a fascist.

This Ryan fella just got pissed and sent a stupid email thread; even he was backtracking on a few of this arguments the next day and was even complementing Steve on the fact he replied and was engaged in the argument. Steve certainly came across as the sensible one IMHO. Which is not bad for 2am!
Although, fair play to Ryan; he published the emails even tho he came across as a bit of an idiot in them... LOL

What is with people lately? Ever since Gizmodo showed off the new iPhone early everyone hates Giz, just because he took a special moment away from Steve Jobs. Who really cares that much about a phone. People are just so sad these days.

Any time another company/individual has issues with apple, certain users take it upon themselves to hate that company/individual.
Typically this revolves around simple posturing via posts/signatures, but sometimes it leads into fantastically large rants repeating through all of the items that Steve has said are his reasons.
Its really a beautiful thing.
You don't need the app store or flash to access a porn site on an iPad or an iPhone.... Not that i would know anything about it..... Just what i've heard....

I seem to recall getting really heated a few years ago that the reason and the only reason that my old standby PPC machines cannot run that well is not because of OSX limitations but FLASH limitations.
Jobs should make iPhoto better than PS. Lazy Adobe.
P.S. Porn makes people lazy too. Look what happened to our economy when the SEC guys were watching porn at work during the Wall Street meltdown. "When men cannot govern themselves, they will be governed by tyrants."
