It looks good to me from what I can tell from the photos. If it's real I'm pretty sure I'll be buying one once screen size(s) are confirmed.

By a highly technical process, consisting of a series of zoom-enhances (ahem) i have come up with a back-of-the-napkin estimate on the size of this iSomething.

Approximately 85mm x 150mm. Quite the increase over the current iPhone/iPod.

Protruding camera....yuck

Although images look suspicious at best, I would actually welcome protruding camera lens, especially the one Apple patented with interchangeable lens mount.

Sure it may not look snazzy, but it really isn't that bad on iPod touch and interchangeable lens would open up the market for much more elegantly designed lenses.

I don't think so, that's way bigger than even the galaxy G4-5, LG G2, new HTC One. More like Phablet, unless that is what they are going for here.

Aesthetically, it's definitely not as nice. But a recent Apple patent showed how a raised camera could be used to securely attach better lenses. This makes sense in a way because we seem to be reaching the limits of what's possible with optics in smartphones as thin as the iPhone.
Putting aside the dubious benefits to an interchangeable lens, the thickness of the device is starting to impact functionality. On the iPhone and iPad you can connect the Lightning connector without a second glance. Sometimes I have difficulty with the iPod connector simply due to the fact that the case is beveled around the connector. The plug doesn't naturally slide into position as effortlessly as it does on the thicker devices.

Not that either of these would be a reason for me to avoid the product but it does highlight usability and aesthetic issues directly related to making the device too thin.

I don't disagree with you. I guess I would just hope that they would have a bit more of a reason for the lens to protrude than making the rest of the device thinner. As someone who doesn't use a case with my iPhone (unless I'm in a situation in which it's more likely to get damaged), I would find this to be very annoying.

Totally agree. I'm caseless as well. I would find that thing jutting out to be Very annoying. They may do it though, who knows.

Maybe its a next Gen iPod Touch, not an iPhone.. The MS Word pics look more like one than an iPhone

Then, of course, there's this theory!

Look closely at that graphic, there is a raised rim all the way round the back of the phone.

Why?

A sheet of sapphire fits into the recess. :D

I think there is possibly a protective sleeve wrapped around the phone in the photos, making the recess harder to see.

I think this leak is just going to be something to keep people talking for now. It is still approximately 5 months to the September window, which Apple traditionally uses to release their iPhone model(s). I will look at the iPhone 6 as a potential option. I normally upgrade yearly. I have a Note 3 now, but I am considering getting the iPhone 6 if the phone size is big enough and the software is not archaic. That's the reason why I am on a Samsung now.

The schematic does not show it that way.

It looks like a flash in the bottom right of the back cover as well.

The question is: What will do Foxconn when Windows XP support finishes?

Leave it as-is? It's not like XP will disappear in a few months.

Foxconn is a manufacturing plant and probably the reason why this particular machine hasn't been upgraded is due to legacy program that only runs on Windows XP (maybe something that came with a manufacturing machine).

I don't think the schematic includes the glass. It's not on the front either.

The shading in the schematic does make it look like the sides curve in again on the back.

HTC licensed design elements from Apple. HTC is actually paying Apple and Apple agreed to let HTC use elements of Apple's UI design on their phone. So if you're going Android, buying an HTC phone sends some money back to Apple.

Do you have a source/link about this. Never heard about this, but sounds interesting. :)

If you use iPod Touch then you'll see this ring is not a problem at all. And overall iPod Touch is a very nice little machine.

Sketchy iPhone 6 Images Said to be Sourced from Foxconn Surface

I only made it to page 2 and there are already so many ignorant irrelevant posts that seem as if they were posted all by 1st timers.. except MaCrazySwe - you sir are a genius, great points!

Before posting your opinions - think of what we already know! Protruding cameras on the iPod touch. Patents on liquid metals. Patents on interchangeable camera lenses. Curved displays. A design language that only the iPhone is not included in.

A protruding camera - The schematics that were leaked earlier last week DO show a protruding camera on the 5.7" model. Not the 4.5" So this does indeed line up with such drawings. Quit your sniveling, a bigger surface area can mean a thinner profile. Also, what was that rumor about apple patenting interchangeable camera lenses?

All these antenna/metal/gap complaints - Who's to say Apple isn't using 'liquid metal' as a solid back? Or even a sapphire back with 2 lines acting and gaps for signal? Both would look beautiful imho and would be a pretty big change from the 5/5s design with 2 glass pieces separated by an aluminum back.

The 'clamping down on security' comment - It's getting old. Last month everyone was singing a different toon.. 'man why haven't we seen Mr. Blurrycam with the 6?' Now, as soon as an image is leaked with some legitimacy it's 'wow, some security' So which is it? I say Apple is doing a helluva job compared to 2,3,4 years ago, iPhone 4 anyone?

Some asking why Apple is so focused on 'thinner and lighter' Why? Because if it was thicker and heavier, everyone would be up in arms on how Apple could release such a device. Com'mon!

1 leaked image and people are already complaining.. What the hell do you expect? Look at the design language in 1st the touch, then the mini, now the air. It's common sense, well maybe not, to imagine where the phone is going. And honestly, it's one beautiful design.. Slim with rounded edges!

TruTone flash - can Apple not improve the design and possibly add both in one circular design. The pill shape does stand out in my opinion. Stop writing it off just because it's no pill shaped. It's a camera flash for gods sake! Same goes for the speaker grill.

People, relax and take it with a grain of salt.. admire what's being shown and quit trying to be the zen master of Apple's design team and supply channel. At the rate were going, there are apparently 200+ people who believe they could be Apples CEO.

It is certain that your personal bank still runs part of its software on as400 workstations programmed with COBOL. At all of the banks and many other companies I consulted this was the case. THAT should be of concern to you.

A manufacturer running older OS or other software versions is quite normal and of no concern at all.

I have received quite a few comments, but I would like to respond to your and hope to cover all of the comments I have received. I actually built an ATM system for a grocery chain in the 80s using IBM Series/1s. I coded on the system 36/38/400, but I used RPG and not Cobol. I am very familiar with the issue facing banks.

I have several concerns here that I will try to elaborate better.

1. In general, most business delay upgrading until the last possible moment and often wait even after that to upgrade. Based on what I have seen instead of saving money, there are a ton of documents showing how this actually cost money especially due to security risk.

2. I consider it ironic, to say the least, that Apple products are being built by machines driven by Microsoft. I would have expected something else, like IBM or Oracle or something. But I would consider it ironic to find Apple devices be built by machines running or being driven by ChromeOS.

3. OS X is not designed to be a manufacturing OS driving a ton of robots. I totally get that and I did not expect to find factory workers behind a MacPro or anything, but I did expect that Apple had more modern devices to build their modern devices. I get that a lot is done manually and that is why they do it in China where the labor is significantly cheaper. However, if they had more modern technology, maybe they could have less Chinese laborer working such long hours. And maybe that would allow them to bring some of the work back to the US or even to Europe so that you can build closer to where it is being sold and minimize the transportation costs.

Having said all this, I am concerned that the banks are neglecting their responsibilities. I actually go into banks and do not use ATMs if I can help it (I doubt I use an ATM more than once a quarter and would really eliminate it altogether if I could). However, I am still not at the stuff it in the bed mattress phase.

I hope the camera doesn't protrude from the case. For some reason it really bugs me on the iPod.

I also hope that the camera doesn't protrude from the device. I would probably skip the upcoming generation, and wait for a redesign, if the camera protrudes.

Very ugly, and I'm guessing it's much more prone to getting damaged. The protruding camera is probably the only reason I don't have one of the new iPod touch models. I was considering purchasing the entry level model, without the camera, but I want an iPod with as much storage as possible.
