Samsung has no desire to spend more money on the display for higher frame rate, for a while now Apple has used better screens on iPhones than Samsung. LG is selling the
OLED65C8PUA tv which is 120 Hz OLED, but with a price tag to match.

I think there is a 40% chance all these will be characteristic of the 2019 iPhone XS Max successor. If they want to give it higher battery life than the XR they probably need it around 4000 ma/hr, the higher wattage charger to match makes sense. Of course it will be thicker because of those. The 3 cameras has been a rumor for a while and would make the XS max successor more distinguished from the XR successor. Lastly the 120 Htz display makes sense as Apple tries to usually give the best display to iPhones while the iPad already has it. The rarity of OLED 120 Hz is still pretty high, but it is very likely Apple will have the first one on a smartphone weather if it's this year, but they most likely won't next year because of the S generation delaying it to 2021.

Those TVs don’t run 4K 120hz, only 1080P which is absolutely useless!

120hz OLED is not going to happen on the next iPhones, but maybe 90hz is feasible. 120hz is possible if the switch back to TFT-LED, but I highly doubt that...

Everyone complaining about the price hikes. Just wait till the new airpods come out.
Im guessing at least $250.

9 months to go can we chill with all these fake leaks i dont wanna see every day another fake leak about a phone coming in 9 months

1. USB-C would REALLY appeal to a lot of Apple fans.
2. XS and XS Max both should have 3 cameras.
3. I HOPE it is called the XI not "2nd Gen XS" which makes zero sense.

I think it might be called 11, 11 Max, 11R again. The roman X for 10 is something special and maybe related to the MacOS X...

That bigger battery is what Apple should have had years ago but they focused on the thin design which got out of control. Hoping the larger battery is true .

After buying the XR some months ago I had a look at my former iPhone 6 again yesterday. With it's thinness of only 6.9 mm (thinnest iPhone ever) it looks like in comes from another universe....As much as I like the battery life of the XR I miss that a lot.....

I suspect ProMotion on the iPad exists primarily for the benefit of reducing the latency while writing with the Apple Pencil. I’m somewhat doubtful that it will come to this year’s iPhones due to the OLED displays. Also, refreshing the screen that often cannot be good for battery life which is probably a bigger issue on the iPhone with its smaller battery than the iPad. Would love to be proven wrong though.

ProMotion is the killer feature of the iPPs for me! Although is makes more sense with the iPP because I am reading much more on it, it would be nice to have it on the iPhones too....Maybe it even saves battery life because it cannot only go up to 120Hz but also go down to 24Hz....

That might be the chance for the LED display of the XR which might be easier to get with ProMotion....

If this is all Apple has to offer for 2019 I don’t see a bright future for the iPhone ahead. Wait what world wide mobile phone congress in Barcelona has to offer and see how dated the disigns of Apple have become.

I am only interested in new iPhone support for the Apple Pencil

But that would remind many of the legendary Steve iPhone keynote from 2007 where he condemns the usage of a "stylus" with the "smartphones" of that age....

Or perhaps they’re adding ProMotion, as the rumor mentions.

Also, is LCD less power efficient? I thought OLED would consume more power.

These are some appealing rumors, if some are true.

OLED consumes more power than LCD if many pixels are "switched on" (e.g. for a white background)...

I don't know. All screen with a small notch is just a precursor to an all screen phone, which is obviously where they will go when technology allows for it. What kind of designs are you looking for that you would consider more futuristic? The pop up camera is the only thing I have seen and I don't know if I'd consider it such a futuristic design that it makes the iPhone look dated. I haven't really been seeing any major hardware advancements from any phone companies today, aside from Apple and their silicon/camera teams and Google and their camera teams. It ultimately comes down to software and there are still a ton of people who prefer iOS, so to say the iPhone doesn't have a bright future would be pretty silly.

Given Apples departure from sensible naming conventions, I think you would have better luck consulting a local haruspex and their chicken to get the right answer.

Agree. I am looking to downsize from the Max size in 2019. Hopefully the two devices are essentially identical again.

Hopefully. This year's feature parity was awesome. I prefer a smaller phone, but I've switched to the big'un in the past to get the best camera(s).

Please tell me I'm not the only one who instantly thought of this.

PSVR has “Phone OLED” and runs at 120Hz. PC VR OLED headsets run at 90Hz.
[doublepost=1547806057][/doublepost]
Playstation VR uses a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 1920 × 1080 resolution that runs at 120Hz.

Perhaps you can explain then why every smartphone uses PenTile and this uses RGB.

Someone beats me to it. Rather unfortunate there isn't more money being spent on making better and TRUE RGB OLED. Sigh.

Yes the PVR is using an AMOLED, but still not a Phone OLED. If RGB OLED ever gets to return I think MicroLED will be ready by then.

There is this girl on twitch using that exact mock iPhone!!!!!!!!... With the center camera like that. Apple has never done that before right? I asked her what phone she had- she said iPhone. I'm going to find her on Twitch again tonight and take a screenshot if she is on. She had like 2 viewers..

She's a fake, too.
