Skyrim Official System Requirements

Any chance I can run Skyrim on my MBP with these specs?
Mid-2011 MBP
13''
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB RAM 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
 
I haven't played Skyrim yet, so I don't know the performance hit. Most Wineskin or Cider games will take anywhere from a 10 to 70% hit... it depends on the game and what function in Wine are still lacking. I'd say on average your looking at around a 15 to 20% hit.

I haven't tried Skyrim yet cuz its SWTOR beta weekend... and I have yet to play that on Windows as well 🙂
 
I said I was coming back when I had tried it for a bit, never happened though as this game is so awesome I got sucked in. It is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. Still it is running quite well on my iMac 3.1Ghz I5 with 1 GB 6970.

Well see ya going back to sky rim XD
 
My 8GB 2009 i5 iMac 27 seems to be just below the recommended specs HD 4850. I seems like it might run but not at the native resolution.
 
^^It'll run fine at native with most settings on high, just turn off AA (you don't need it at 2560x1440) and overclock your GPU. It's basically a pimped up, better tuned version of the old Gamebryo engine, despite what Bethesda claim it is. The recomended specs seem way off, a quad core is recomended but the game only sees 2 cores, crazy.

From what I can tell the 3D engine isn't particularly demanding, more of an upgraded Fallout/Oblivion engine then a Metro style system hammer.

I've actually had a quick look at the fps now and I'm getting 60 in many places dropping down to low 30's when theres a lot of action on screen.

Still pretty good, considering.
Also - when you say OC'd, do you mean using the catalyst drivers? Or are you actually doing something more sophisticated?
 
MSI afterburner for overclocking, combine that with SMC Fan control and you should be able to get your card running faster then a stock 4850 desktop version.
Relevant for most people! The recomended system specs are utter bollocks, plenty of people running this on old 256MB cards from the 210 GT era, don't expect high res/settings but it should run ok if you tone down the graphics. Reading through that thread someones even running it on a GF6600 GT 128MB so you can safely ignore Bethesdas clueless 'requirements'.

Leo Laporte was playing it on his MBA earlier today. I think he's using a 2010 MBA, but I'm not 100% on that. If an Air can run it, then the actual requirements must be pretty low.
 
Skyrim on low-end early 2011 Macbook Pro

Hey all!

I just wanted to report in that I picked up Skyrim the other night and am playing it flawlessly on Medium graphics settings, with high textures and high shadows at 1440x900 resolution! My Macbook Pro specs are as follows:

Core i7 CPU 2Ghz
4GB DDR3 RAM 1333Mhz
ATI Radeon HD 6490 Gfx with 256mb GDDR3 RAM (I refuse to call it AMD 😛 )
Catalyst 11.10 drivers
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64-bit

I know the minimum specs on this game call for 512mb gfx cards but I think Bethesda was exaggerating a bit, since my card is running it just fine on Medium and its a 256mb card. So to any who are wondering, YES, the low-end early-2011 Macbook Pro CAN play this with only a little bit of stuttering every now and then!

ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY FANTASTIC GAME TOO! 😀

Thank you so much for the input- I have the exact same computer except with the High Res Anti Glare option and 8 GB of RAM. I'll probably play at 1440 x 900 to keep it a little smoother.

Can I still play it at full screen, even if it's not running on native resolution?

On my MBP with 6750m the performance is shockingly good. I run the 6750m at 800/900 in windows (High, 900p, no AA, 45-60 fps) but the cider version on high seems to run almost as well. I don't have a frame counter so I can't say for sure.

I really wish that New Vegas would run this well too - then I could ditch bootcamp.

I'll do the first play through on windows - but I will play it many times on the Mac.

Seriously. Awesome. Game.
 
help me out guys, i would really appreciate it!!

alright so, i have been reading you guys talk about what macbook will and wont work with skyrim but i havent seen my specs up here yet and i have been trying to really get it working well but it's just not going to well...

i have a late 2008 macbook (aluminum) with upgraded specs
8gb ram
500gb HD
parallel 7 with windows 7 home premium running
2.4ghz intel core 2 duo
Nvidia Geforce 9400M-256mb

so guys.... im really like dumfounded at why it's just not running well at all and i put it to the complete most low settings i could and its still just slow...

could it be parallels 7? cause other wise windows 7 works really great i dedicated 3gb of ram like it told me to for windows and idk im just really shocked its this bad...

any tips by anyone?? and settings i should tweek in parallels?? it dosent even say its using the nvidia graphics card in parallel it just said its using the parallels display adaptor card? idk what thats about but

should i just try bootcamp? i really love parallels so much better so any tips would really really be appreciated as i am LOVING the game but cant really play it at all bc its lagging this much!!!

For 3D games forget Parallels, either use Bootcamp or play in Mac OS X via Cider or similar
