After 3 days of very slow wifi on my iphone 6 i was able to get it fixed by changing from WEP to WPA-PSK on my modem settings. Previously i had tried resetting network settings, resetting my modem, i even did a restore on itunes without any luck.

I was worried it was my iphone 6's hardware as my Ipad Mini Retina wasnt affected with wifi issues with ios8. Happy the iphone is usable now, having to use internet only on data was heart breaking.

I just did a ookla speedtest at home on iphone 6 and am getting about 40.76 mbps. This is on home wi-fi with wireless 'n' standard on an older router.

Concur with the slow/sluggish behavior after ios 8 on iphone 5, especially when loading macrumors... also feels like being a bit slower on other sites as well.
When trying to load macrumors with chrome ios it seems a bit faster than safari? so not sure if it's wifi or safari? could someone confirm this?

Also youtube for ios seems to load/buffer videos slower and orientation is noticeably when swithing between potrait and landscape, but this could be the youtube app...

IPhone 6 slow on 2.4ghz Ssid on new AP extreme

I upgraded iPad Air, iPad 3, & 2 iPhone 5s to IOS8 and they all worked fine on the 2.4 SSID but would switch to the 5.0 SSID on next use. I Upgraded to 2 iPhone 6 and they seem to only work with the 5.0 SSID and would also switch to 2.4 the next time I used them.

I finely had to tell each device to forget the offending network and that is working now for a few days. The iPhone 6 is also connecting to my AirPort Extreme at 364mb and Speedtest reports speeds of 64mb. If I use the 2.4 SSID I'm lucky to get 4mb.

This data is meaningless if you dont provide your connection speeds.

And I thought it was just me. Glad to see that others are having the same problem so it will be heard and fixed sooner.

The easiest way to check is observing your receiving and sending light in your modem.

I'm not sure how about you, but here in Indonesia we still use modem + router where the sending and receiving data lights still can be seen.

I'm using iphone 5s, ios 8, and having the same issue with wifi, mainly on whatsapp and instagram, and also sometimes safari.

I tried testing the update feed on instagram, but when i observe my modem, sending and receiving light is not constant or no data at all being transmitted.

I am pretty sure it is not the modem/cable/router problem because when i play my PS4 online using the same connection, all the sending and receiving lights are on and never stops.

Another test is to stream youtube HD videos via my galaxy note 3. its streaming and all sending and receiving lights are on non-stop.

But when i'm streaming videos on my iphone 5S (ios8) the lights just stop and no data being transmitted.

Luckily I have an ipad mini retina still running on ios7, tried streaming the same youtube videos and all lights are on.

so those that are saying the data is slow, its not slow, its just that somehow a bug in ios8 cannot send and receive data from wifi, and it constantly drops connection.

anyone know how to revert back to os7 without losing data on my iphone? please help.

Experienced my first issue with wi-fi tonight. Was trying to watch a movie from iCloud and the wi-fi on my iPad 3 was cutting in and out the entire movie. Wife was also having issues with slow wi-fi on her iPhone 6.

I am running an AirPort Extreme in my office that is relayed to an AirPort Express in my living room. Running AirPort Utility on my iPhone 5, it's the most wonky thing I've ever seen. If I stand close to the Express, it shows the internet connection and the Express, but not the Extreme. If I walk into the office, it sees the Extreme and not the Express.

Basically, something in iOS8 is killing the signal and I hope they get it resolved soon.

My iPad is super slow. Facebook I message everything is super slow n I cannot share a picture from photos app. The Facebook closes saying that it cannot login.
I think I should not use iPad for next three months with these kinds of bugs

I have airport express too. My macbook works good n my cheap moto g works perfect. But the iPhone of my flatmate n my iPad air is not working. Some serious WiFi issues with iOS 8

Yes, Speedtest on my iPhone 6 really cranks out some speed. 19.02Mbps/3.88 Mbps on AT&T 4G. Wifi via a new Time Capsule with wireless n tests at 47.72Mbps/5.10Mps.

Unfortunately actual wifi in my home with the TC and iPhone never more than 10m apart is pretty dismal. My 2012 MBP wireless n easily beats it.

Count me in the slow wifi crowd. Speed tests on phone show 1 Mbps while the laptop pulls the usual 25 Mbps.

I'm experiencing slower WiFi, but it looks like it isn't as severe as what others are experiencing. My iPhone 5S is downloading at 10 Mbps, while my MBP is getting 15 Mbps at home.

Edit: Wow, just tried it at work and my iPhone 5S is getting 0.50 mbps, while my MBP is getting over 20 mbps...

Totally disabling location service all together really helps a bit. Dont know why. It's less droping than before. Temporary fix.

My Wi-Fi speeds seem to be fine currently but I did encounter a few issues regarding it.

At one point my cousin wasn't able to find any access points, even after turning Wi-Fi off, then on again. A few minutes later he was able to see them. However during this exact time, my phone was able to find them without any issues.

And the same happened to me in another location. My phone wasn't able to pick up anything. Though there were access points in the area that I've connected to before. When finally connected, it displayed my cellular signal strength as opposed to Wi-Fi signal strength.

(We both were using iPhone 6 with iOS 8)

I don't know if this is slow wifi related but ever since iOS8, I don't seem to be abld to upload attachments to here from my 5s.

Maybe try changing QOS setting on router

Found changing Quality of Service QOS setting on my router solved the problem. Disabled WMM as I recall.

I can't upload photos anywhere in Safari in iOS 8. Ironically uploads work fine in Chrome, so Safari is just buggy.

Found a solution

Changed my WiFi encryption settings from WEP to WPA-2. The signal stops hanging now. Able to use the YouTube app works -- videos stream beautifully.

My issue isn't the speed of WiFi

My issue is that WiFi keeps dropping and switching me to LTE on my new i6. My son's i5s is dropping WiFi too, and he just depleted his data plan for the month a few days before the billing cycle. In places where I had no problems with continuous connectivity, I have many problems keeping the connection, and my son seems to be having the same issue since he upgraded to iOS 8.

Hmmm.

Definitely something going on with 5Ghz networks - my 6 Plus just hung on "Checking for Updates" when 8.0.1 came out, as soon as I said "Forget Network" and joined my 2.4GHz one (same house, same router, same ADSL connection), it found it straight away.

Ever since I changed to 2.4 band, I have not encountered anymore wifi issue.

I didn't see any bug fix for wifi from 8.0.1. I'm staying away from it now because of reported issues.

8.0.1 Wifi still stalling. And when I switch to 2.4, all of my bluetooth devices & wifi connection go berserk..
