So glad I found this thread.

My 6+ crawls on wifi (zips through on LTE) when I try to update apps, browse using safari, use the Amazon app, etc.

My 5s, still on ios7, is blazing fast on wifi (as are my two ipad 3's and my laptop).

They need to fix this asap. $400 on a phone that is almost unusable on wifi!!!

No need to change router settings. Temporary fix is disable your cellular data while you're on wifi. This fixed the slow and dropped connection on my iphone 6.

This data is meaningless if you dont provide your connection speeds.

I'm a newibe when it comes to analyzing networks. However this statement confused me. I use Ookla on my iphone to test speeds. Is the data from Ookla not telling me what my phone is seeing in terms of speed from my router? Thanks.

Now that i have 8.0.2 i tested to see if Wifi worked well with my modem settings on WEP, still not working. WPA-PSK do work but what will happen when i connect to wifi on a friends house that dosent have WPA2... :(

cause wifi on wep will not go to n or probably even ac speeds its against ieee specification, using non wpa2 aes will go down to g/a speeds..this is well known..set up the router properly with proper security for the sake of ur data & speed, or get a new router if its so old it cant even support wpa2..like really if the latter is true, a used $15 n router supports wpa2..

My Wifi (I have a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH) connected to a Motorola Surfboard SB6141 on Time Warner Cable's broadband (30Mbps down and 5Mbps Up) and after installing iOS 8.0.2 I get between 30 and 33Mbps over 802.11n with my iPhone 6 Plus. I wasn't getting those speeds with 8.0 (more like half that).

Updated to 8.0.2, wifi still slow on iPhone 6 but not iPad Air using same router and settings....any ideas?

I originally had a 6 Plus and now a 6. Both drop my wifi connection and won't reconnect, only a reboot or reset network settings fixes it :( I am using one of the new AC Time Capsules. I hope apple fix this soon.

All apps seem much slower over wifi on both iPhone 5s and iPad Mini. Same apps over LTE are fine. I thought my wifi was acting up, but both computers in the house are fine. My wife's iPhone which hasn't been upgraded to iOS 8 is also fine. Also noticed when in Safari on wifi the spinning activity icon next to the wifi icon rarely if ever goes away. Normally it's only there during page loads.

Same thing for me. Seems like any app for me on wifi is slow occasionally. I have An AC router and when it works it flies, then there's times I get spinning wheel and pages don't load, apps don't refresh or connect. Mail will get stuck connecting, podcast will search forever etc. especially if I have other apps open.

If I go to LTE all is good, everything else on my network is good.

iPad Air - JB 7.4 all good
iPhone 6+ - wonky wifi which is the only problem I'm having with it
iPad mini retina - wonky wifi
Apple - wtf, really?

Just tried this and it works! Temp fix I suppose, but I don't want to be doing all day on my phone, iPad is easy as it stays home mostly.

Yes. It works. Since yesterday until today. I never have a slow wifi connection and not even one dropped connection anymore.

This temp fix applies only to people who still has the wifi signal but the internet connection becomes slow and often dropped. This is not a fix for people who lost the wifi signal and cant find the wifi signal anymore until a reboot.

I reverted back to 7.1.2 due to this wifi issue, and looking forward to come back to iOS 8 once this problem is fixed. But I think I'll wait for one more release after 8.0.2.

No Problems Here

I have an iPad Air and an iPhone 6 Plus 64GB, running at home with Verizon Quantum Internet through an AirPort Extreme router. I am consistently getting in excess of 80 GBps download and upload after the IOS 8.2 update. (Ookla) This is about the max speed of my network. On its best day, my MacBook runs at about 85/85, same Internet speeds both wired and wireless.

So, I'm happy. Finally, an Apple phone as fast as a laptop.

As a sidebar, I did not have any problem downloading the 8.2 update on either device.

For the interested geeks out there, I only use my Verizon router as a portal and to run our FIOS TV network. I use two Apple AirPorts in a roaming network (big house) to run our wireless network and we have a LOT of IP addresses running on it (TiVos, security, ROKUs, computers, iPads, etc., etc.) my internet service is Verizon Quantum with 80/80 advertised speeds-they recently speeded up upload speeds to match downloads.

My experience running all Apple hardware and software has always been good with Apple devices. When I had my last Windows PC, it was crap with everything Apple. I hate Windows.

Yup add me to the list of ios-8 wifi woes.

My iPhone 6 and 5S work fine but my iPad air and iPad mini retina are having a nightmare with my BT home hub 5 router. But they both work ok with my apple extreme router.

Hope Apple release a fix soon.

iPhone 6 user here since launch day. The wifi is bad and extremely noticeable even on the second day. The wifi on my phone often gets disconnected and goes uses mobile data. I have to turn off and on the wifi on my phone. It's quite annoying. I turn off mobile data when I'm at home to prevent my phone from using it when the wifi gets disconnected

Not any better on iPhone 5s.

About 20 feet from router:

missing info. what router? what band 2.4ghz or 5ghz? what internet plan do u have? do u get the full speed with a different device or on ethernet? are other devices using the wifi at the time of test (local transfers DO COUNT)?

people with wifi issues should test with the app called wifi sweetspots, it tests throughput between the device & router & doesnt use ur internet connection at all completely ruling it out

That's with the 2.4 Ghz band (Linksys E3000). The 5 Ghz band works fine, except my phone won't stay on the 5 Ghz channel and keeps switching to the 2.4 one. The range of the 5 one is about 75% of what it was under iOS 7.1.2. To get reliability with 2.4 I need to be within about 10 feet of my router.

My Internet connection is 100 Mbps by 10 Mpbs, but my point of that post was the 61% packet loss. For me the problem is dropped packets. iOS 8 does not handle interference well at all. I used to have no problems with 2.4 despite a number of neighboring networks, now there's no 2.4 channel that works reliably on my 5s running iOS 8. iPad 2 and iPhone 4s work fine running iOS 7.1.2.

Wifi hotspot doesn't appear to be that accurate. When I tested with my iPhone 5s, it would fluctuate between 30 Mbps and 1 Mpbs with the phone lying on a flat surface.

Are these the same issues we're talking about?
I thought the main issue was apps like Safari slowing down to a degree that youd get timeout messages.

Gave it another shot last night, reset Network Settings, worked for like 15 minutes, then back to timeout.
Speedtest couldnt even perform at that point as it already timed out finding the nearest server.

Hard to determine where the blame might lie, between the phone and the router. I just upgraded my r8000 with the latest beta firmware and it is fast and stable. No dropdowns to 2.4 ghz band. All four 8.0.2 devices work fine on the N band.

Since the problem started after upgrading to iOS 8, is say the blame lies squarely with Apple. Never had any problems under iOS 7.1.2.

Add me to the list of happy 8.0.2 upgraders. I can now watch YouTube videos, browse Reddit, etc. on wifi without wanting to pull my hair out. Hopefully it lasts.

iphone 5S, clean install of iOS 8.0.2, and wifi is excruciatingly slow
some of the apps give a network timeout as well.
