Electricsheep (awesome screensaver) doesn't work :(

Growl works fine with everything so far(adium, etc), but I noticed that growlhelper keeps giving an error every few seconds in console:
8/19/09 3:11:54 AM GrowlHelperApp[539] *** attempt to pop an unknown autorelease pool (0x10a5a00)

I read that USB Overdrive doesn't work?
ooo what about logitechs stuff. device manager

what about office.
and the adobe suite.
im guessing all of apple's apps work in sl.

sry for all the questions. this is the first time i have seen a discussion or article about this.

I wonder how long it will take for updates to come out for these apps. There's already a few apps that have already had updates to make them compatible with Snow Leopard (XSlimmer is one).

Someone get back to me on this, but I can't get any of the Apple Events to stream in QuickTime X.

This build is seeming to feel like its unfinished. QT doesn't even have a preferences!

The WWDC09 stream from Apples site streams perfectly on QTX.
Apps that don't work for me:

Crossover 8
tsMuxerGUI

My 2 favourite apps don't work

Xmarks for Safari (1.2.1)
Istat's menu meters

iStat

I asked the Dev of iStat about it on Twitter and his response was...

@oo1005 No released date yet. We're working hard to make sure it's released before SL, if possible.5:37 AM Aug 13th from Tweetie in reply to oo1005

Also Filezilla works fine.

Multi-clutch is broken :(

Also, double-clicking on the title bar doesn't minimize anymore??

Any word on Chax? I can't imagine using iChat without it!

Sadly, Chax does not work.

Also, my HP LaserJet P1006 stopped working. The printing queue returns some sort of error from PrintJobMgr. I installed foo2zjs drivers from OpenPrinting.org to get it to work again.

EDIT: New drivers from HP (released 15 Aug 2009) did not solve the issue. PrintJobMgr unexpectedly quits whenever you queue a job.

Flip4Mac works.

It works, but the import speed for large media files (i.e. HD) is considerably slower than in Leopard - even the latest beta as of the date of this post. e.g. a 1.5Gb 720p WMV normally takes about 10-20 seconds to import in Leopard. It took about 10 minutes to import in Snow Leopard...

Do any Unsanity haxies work? (Particularly FruitMenu and WindowShadeX.) I'm guessing not.

Just to add my HP LaserJet 1020 does not work either, I've tried all the old "tricks" (old 1022 drivers) and none of them work. Same issue with PrintJobMgr which apparently needs Rosetta to work (which it auto-downloaded, kinda cool) but it would just hang on add printer. I'll try the foo2zjs tonight.

No love with Cyberduck either.
Download the latest nightly build, it works just find under Snow Leopard:

http://update.cyberduck.ch/nightly/alpha/

I've noticed that anything with Growl, slows the system like crazy. When I get an IM, it slows Adium from getting the message, as well as the whole system. tsmuxerGUI doesn't work. MacPorts 1.7.1 doesn't work, but the SVN does. Steermouse only works in 32bit obviously, since there aren't any 64bit drivers. Myihome streaming app for my Networked Media Tank opens, then quickly crashes. SABnzbdX opens, then crashes. MediaInfo Mac opens, then crashes. Everything else seems to be working for me. Opera, Office 2008, Transmission, MacPAR Deluxe, SABnzbd+ (but this is because it's Python), MPlayer OS X Extended, Handbrake.

DreamWeaver CS4 crashs,,,, often when inserting objects, photos,,,,
no!!!!!!
what about illustrator

I asked the Dev of iStat about it on Twitter and his response was...

nice. good job man.

dam.

Apps that do not work or crash out:

Leopard Cache Cleaner
Any APE app (fruit menu, windowshadex, mighty mouse etc.)
Certain versions of firefox seem to crash out more than others
Mac Cleanse
Sticky Windows
Any utility that adds right click menu options from what I can tell.
SmartScroll
Mostly I am finding it's the 3rd party system utilities that need updates to work right. Mostly the programs that put control panels in the system preferences panel are iffy at best.

works:

-firefox 3.5.2
-camino 1.6.8
-frostwire 4.18.1
-world of warcraft (patched to 3.2)
-warcraft III and the frozen throne (patched to 1.24)
-starcraft and brood war (patched to 1.161)
-diablo 2 and LOD (patched to 1.12a)
-duke nukem 3D (powerpc)
-doomsday (classic ID games)
-scummVM (classic lucasarts games)
-transmission 1.73
-roxio toast 10.0.2 titanium
-vlc 1.0.1
-remote desktop connection for mac 2.01
-synergy 10.5 beta
-folding@home
-perian 1.1.4
-secrets (preference pane)
-microsoft mouse 7.0
-growl 1.1.6
-caffeine 1.0.4
-the unarchiver 1.6.1
-appzapper 1.8
-smartreporter 2.3.9

not sure:

-flip4mac, because i havent used .wmv so far

doesnt work:

-safari adblock (developer said snow leopard support is coming)
-menu meters (i emailed the developer and he said there will be an update for snow leopard)
-cyberduck (developer has stated that snow leopard support is coming, but use alpha builds for preliminary support)

i have others, but i didnt try them as yet. i will be updating the list as i go along! :)

Why would some programs do not work? I think all regular programs work, except for add-ons and plugins, since a 32bit plugin/add-on won't work on a 64-bit application.

The base line of the system is the same. All they did was clean up the code.

Well, it appears that most of the apps appearing on this thread are not really that important (at least for me). I could care less if SL breaks a screensaver, a game, or any third party software that controls the system. The ONLY app listed so far that has any value to me is Dreamweaver, but I'm sure Adobe will fix that before SL arrives or soon after. I suppose the same thing will happen for all the professional applications.

I'm more interested in apps like, CS 4 design, After Effects, Lightwave/Maya, FCS 3, Nuke, BBEdit, and drivers for Epson scanners and printers... etc. I'm especially interested to know if Final Cut renders faster. And finally, I'd like to know if Safari is snappier. :D
