10.7.1 problems:
1. System freezes all the time, I have to reset with power on/off switch.
2. WiFi freezes all the time.
3. Battery time (new battery) sucks big time.
4. Waking computer from sleep is not working (I see only black screen sometimes with cursor), only solution hard reset.
5. Waking screen from sleep is not working neither (I also see only black screen sometimes with cursor), only solution hard reset.

Summing things up, I should wait for 10.7.5 or 10.7.6, because right now Lion is making my work impossible. :(

Overreact much? Just because you didn't know what you were doing and messed something up in the process of reloading Snow Leopard does not mean that will happen for others. Geez, if you can't do something as simple as reload an OS properly, i pray for you in your ventures on Linux.

It's not too bad really.

Personally, I don't see the point of Launchpad for me, and Mission Control takes a bit of getting used to. I really would love the option of going back to the SL Expose though.

I thnk Mission Contorl works better with bigger screens. I quite like it on the 27" iMac, but on my MBP 13" windows are too small, and say if I'm copying a file from one folder to another, and i open launch pad, the copy progress window is sandwiched between the two finder windows and is a bit hard to get to from mission control.

The new mouse gestures are great though, I don't need to use magic prefs any more!

I've noticed Mail quitting on me a lot though (I use an exchange server), still quits after the 10.7.1 update too.

Haven't noticed any difference in battery life, all my apps other than mail work fine. SMB connections seem a lot quicker too.

Still waiting for a way of syncing two macs via a file server. I'm using Super Flexible File Synchroniser at the moment with good results, but its slow.

The only other thing I don't like is the memory usage, people with only 2gb of RAM will need to upgrade to 4gb. So those of you with 2009 iMacs and MacBooks will be limited to 3gb, and won't have a brilliant experience.

edit:
Oh actually, one bug I've found (still present in 10.7.1) is that when my background image changes, the finder bar at the top doesn't change with it. See:

I like it overall. When I brought my 2009 13" Macbook Pro with Leopard pre-installed, because of the new function keys, I lost easy access to Spaces. I had Expose with F3, but I couldn't easily make a keyboard shortcut for Spaces. I got the Spaces functionality back with Mission Control. I also like the easy switching between spaces and like the automatic reopening of apps. Occasionally, I uncheck the reopen option when shutting down, as it can slow down my Macbook Pro when restarting. I had to uncheck the "natural scrolling" option, as well, it did not feel natural.

Try using it on a mac at the Apple Store or Best Buy.

Off. Where did you get this amazing wallpaper? Could you share it? I'm sucker to visual things :)

Open letter to Steve , Apple and the Intel Cartel.

I hope you are reading this Apple ,you have made a fair number of loyal Mac End users-
unhappy,
(At least some code monkeys/jockeys and a few regular users.)
Why ,Why, Why destroy something so beautiful and something so costly.
Who comes up with your code...tell them to put down the crack pipe and write a non-destructive backward compatible(within reason) upgrade.
Snow leopard seemed to be on the right track .
Now you dumb dumbs had to go and jag it up.

Microsoft supposedly laid off 5500 people after the Vista debacle.
Let's hope it was the right 5000 or so.
I also heard they were a company who never really laid off a lot of people...ever!

A mother of a former MS employee told me an interesting story....While Microsoft was on TV tricking people into thinking Vista was Mojave...
A secret internal memo was released at Microsoft telling it's own employee's to start using the Win seven beta and drop Vista.

Seems...seems... like you are foolish enough to head down that road.

Even the most religious mac zealots are now bashing your products ,what the heck are you guys thinking.
I have not checked your company stock lately or Intel's either for that matter.
But you are going down the Microsoft crack pipe.

Don't punish your loyal End users or third party developers for that matter .
I just hate to see it happen.

Steve why o why didn't you take a chance and go AMD,
Intel is sneaky and will jack up the cost of their Chips even to you... if they continue to crush AMD.
I'm sure their road map looks promising with shrinking dies and incorporating AMD style integrated memory controllers...but now you might as well be called Appledell.

I just don't understand the logic(no pun intended) of your recent decisions- some of which I approve- some of which myself and others just can't fathom.

I hope you are feeling better Steve and see the error of your ways and leave a good legacy for your wonderful forward thinking company.

Thank you for almost single handedly ,starting the computer revolution.
Make the patches work or fire the head of OS development (I hope that isn't you).
Love and respect .

+1

Great BG, please tell us where you got it!

As far as this thread goes - Yes, some buggy things that need to be addressed and probably will. My biggest pet peeve is the downgrade in multi monitor support. When I maximize a window, my other monitor is completely useless. This can't be that hard to fix in an update, can it? Please? (I'll be your best friend)

Yes LION SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

apple seems to get more and more used to decide things in place of its costumers. How can you introduce a thing like the Autosave without allow me to deactivate this function??!! let me chose what I prefer!!
Apple also seems to think that only Apple softwares exist.
Many keyboards shortcuts can't be deactivated and conflict with others software. I don't give a **** about mission control and all that stuffs if they forbid me to use easily the software I have to work with.
On top of all this A LOT of drivers doesn't work properly with lion and you have to wait for updates of all you software/hardware you're using.
APPLE SEEMS PERMIT ITSELF TO BE THE DICTATOR OF COMPUTER WORLD, and that all the other companies have to adjust to it. This time they overreached themselves.

Quite right. Of course it has happened in the past too, but it has been much slower, and a lot of it has been possible to DISABLE or at least ignore. Exposé could be ignored, but actually was useful. Dashboard could be ignored, and if you never launched it it wouldn't even slow things down. Time Machine could obviously be ignored. The 3d dock could be disabled; they made it so the translucent menubar could be disabled (shows I guess that they do listen occasionally <3). Stacks could be ignored. Spaces could be ignored, and were very much so!

Autosave/versions can't be ignored or disabled if you're using Apple software, and resume doesn't like to be ignored or disabled as it stands. Mission Control can't be ignored if you are used to using Exposé. Its inclusion of Spaces can't be ignored or disabled even if you've no intention of using them. iCal and Address Book's interface abominations can't be ignored or disabled. Resize anywhere can't be ignored and neither can its background app click threshold, which is my bugbear with it.

Ironically, if I could disable most of what Lion added, I would happily use it! Instead, the most annoying thing I've found running W7 the last month was just now writing this post and having to pull out the character map for accents - LOL - and that's only because I'm using my MBP keyboard with no embedded keypad :).

Been a while since I stoked the flames, hope you survivors are still enjoying Lion.

Careful, critical thinking on this forum is frowned upon. Your post was negged a few times already.

Wasn't gonna get lion for ages, but got a new 15" 2.2 pro and decided to take the plunge now. I thought it was pretty buggy at first but the MBP EFI update helped things heaps. My only gripe is it does like a lot of RAM, but full screen apps and all the other additions make up for it. Oh yeah and I've had 2 kernel panics, not sure what's causing that though. I'd suggest waiting for 10.7.2 and then jumping on. Lion is all good, I never use that stupid iOS style thing with all the apps though

Critical thinking is a good thing. Whining is not.

TheRdungeon: good to see you're giving Lion a try, hope you enjoy it. I run 10.7 and 10.6 side by side and every time I'm on 10.6 I'm always ready to return to 10.7.

I find Lion pretty dumbed down, buggy and just diabolical for an 'upgrade'. I hope Apple realizes that bringing iOS to OS X was a big mistake.

One thing that is massively worth using is Safari in this, it's actually so seamless to use, the two finger animated page flicks, the iPhone like pinch to zoom. Really liking Lion, it's not dumbed down at all and you don't really have to use any of the features if you don't want to (I disabled the resume thing etc)

Totally agree with this, using my old MBP with 10.6 I'm always frustrated that it doesn't seem as smooth. The full screen apps make my 15" High Res feel like a MBA. I think it's a worthy upgrade if you use a trackpad, don't find it quite as useful when docked to screen/keyboard/mouse

Lion doesn't suck, but it still has some major bugs:
- OS hangs-up when I wake up my macbook from sleep with Time Machine disk plugged-in.
- My old rev. B macbook with 2,5gb of ram can't handle RAM-intensive apps because system hangs-up after some time.
- Safari gives me lots of beachballs on some websites, sometimes it just crashes.

Yes, Lion Really Sucks.

I updated to lion, regretfully. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed as though i was downgrading.

Why do i dislike Lion OSX so much? Well, sit around children let me tell you a story.

I bought lion OSX from the app store for $29.95, what a bargain......So i though. Naturally i installed it, the process was smooth easy, as most mac things seem to be. Didn't really notice anything different, apart from the new launchpad and mission control icons on the dock. They all seemed pretty, but quite useless. I couldn't really imagine an instance when i would ever use any of the new features, most specifically launchpad.

Well, my discoveries were soon interrupted by my first ever MAC crash. Yep, my mac crashed. That would subsequently happen atleast 3 times a day. for the week i put up with lion.- i have an iMac 27" quad core i7.

not only that, but wi-fi would randomly drop out....alot. Other annoying problems; Cams couldn't load via browser applications, like Youtube.

An intentional problem that drove me totally bananas! was the inverted mouse scrolling.........Why, seriously, whats the point? what was wrong with the normal scrolling, that seemed way more natural than this poo.

Those were the standout problems that i came across, quite major ones at that. So i'm now back on snow leopard and my iMac is working perfectly again.

Nope, Lion is great

No problems with Lion here, the best OS I have ever used. There were some WiFi issues first, but it all went away with the last update.

I only read the first line and I have a question for you.

Why the hell do you think Apple would read this on this site rofl and hey didn't ya know.. Steve is dead. He won't read it either. LOL No wonder you have trouble with lion if you think you are gonna get somewhere by writing to Apple here. You may as well wish it on a shooting star.
