Is not real...

Steve is more like
"You can cancel your order anytime" or "Wait for you turn" :)

So apparently Steve Jobs has bigger things on his mind than your iPad 2 not being delivered on time, like Japan, and he is making sure they get plenty of "Freebies"

To Our Team in Japan,

We have all been following the unfolding disaster in Japan. Our hearts go out to you and your families, as well as all of your countrymen who have been touched by this tragedy.

If you need time or resources to visit or care for your families, please see HR and we will help you. If you are aware of any supplies that are needed, please also tell HR and we will do what we can to arrange delivery.

Again, our hearts go out to you during this unimaginable crisis.
Please stay safe.
Steve and the entire Executive Team

Steve Jobs Offers Support to Apple Employees Affected by Earthquake

To OP:

Oh boohoo. I bet you're one of those people that demand a gift card at your grocery store because you have to wait 1 extra minute at the checkout line.

Oh, and since you wasted a section in this forum and made me waste my time reading and typing this, I demand a $15 reimbursement. I accept paypal.

You guys can flame me all you want, but when u stop drinking the kool aid for a second you might want to take a look at the fact that he completely ignored (or rather, conveniently choose to neglect and not reply to) the first and major part of my email, which was about CSRs telling me different stories and BSing me about my shipment info. At least, unlike them, he admitted my order was delayed... At the end of the day, I give him props for even replying, even though he didn't answer my main question

Who cares? It's a big company, and Steve isn't going to know the procedure of every last little thing that customer service does.

If you're unhappy, cancel the order.

Steve NEVER sends an email response this long, if this is real it is a first. That's why i am finding it hard to believe.

Concur. I'm finding this one very hard to believe. Steve just doesn't send out paragraph responses.

I think Steve would have responded more like this: "Sorry. Cancel your order or wait. No freebies."

Cancel my order because? I am glad you can read and retype what he told me, but my complain is not with Apple Products themselves, but with the Customer Service Representatives... If I didn't like his products, I wouldn't have ordered them in the first place...

Agreed with above poster. I mean to put things in perspective while some people are whining about not getting their iPads in time, other people's lives have been destroyed by a devastating tsunami.

Then just sit and wait. With your 5 calls or whatever, you're VERY likely to get an email asking for your input. Fill that out, and move on.

Move on with your life please now caller.

Paragraph form? its 3 sentences.... and why the hell would I bother making a fake email and going through all that trouble of taking screenshots and all that of me getting bashed? Doesn't make any sense. But believe what you want. I couldn't care less if you think its real or not...

This has gone on long enough. Typical of the Entitlement Generation, expecting a CEO to bend over backwards because you cannot wait for your shiny new iPad and think CSR have lied to you... bodies are being found in the rubble in Japan right now, think of how lucky you are to not be one of them instead of the injustice you feel has been done to you over a piece of tech that will be outdated in possibly less than eleven months.

This isn't a flame (and most of the replies here haven't been to be honest) but a few points:

1) Steve Jobs is on a leave of absence from Apple.

2) Even if he wasn't you can't realisticly expect him to know what the customer service people are saying to individual customers. He's the CEO, there will be people under him to deal with that side of the business.

3) Have Apple actually gone past the shipping window they gave you when you ordered? If they haven't then, frankly, you've got no grounds for complaint.

4) If you still want to try and blag freebies or complain don't go from the top down, go bottom up. Talk calmly to a customer service agent and, if you're not happy with the response, ask to escalate the call. That's just about the only way you're going to get anywhere but, frankly, you're on pretty dodgy ground with this one so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Ahhh yes entitlement... speaking about people you know nothing about. Here's just a few words of my privileged life: Grew up in a poor family (of two engineers with masters) in Bulgaria and because of the corruption and concentrated wealth there was no future for me there. My mom got an amazing offer to come to the USA, since they needed her expertise and even got us all green cards. Came to the US, lived a horrible first year or two until we get settled, get $ and everything. Went to one of the worst schools in California (taken over by the government, gated, the whole deal). Oh and I started learning English 1 year before I came to the US at the age of 15 (my 3rd language). Worked my a*s off and got into Berkeley and now I am in the top 4% even though I am still having a hard time with the language and competing with all these bright people. Never owned any gaming devices (and even now I see them as a waste of $ I can put into better use). And even when I do have $ now, I spend it wisely and have 2 jobs while taking 5 classes... That's the overly simplified and short version. And now the goal is not to show off or be like "look at me, I am awesome". Its just to prove a point about not making assumptions and statements about people you do not know.

And about comparing this to Japan, its just sad... How is that even related... trying to win sympathy points? good for you

You don't look any better for it. I only mentioned Japan to see if that would put your problem in perspective for you. Apparently that did not work.

Yes, why not put that into the perspective of Chernobyl/WWII/Black Death/_insert disaster here_ ... Now Japan doesn't seem too bad according to your logic...

Okay and Chernobyl/WWII/Black Death/_insert disaster here_ doesn't look too bad compared to an Ipad2 arriving a few weeks late with CSRs lying to you about when it's going to get there and why not etc whatever?

So I emailed Steve Jobs (sjobs@apple.com) telling him about all the bs I got from his Customer Service about why people that ordered after me already got their ipads while mine was not even shipped and how they gave free items to some, but denied that to me and here's what I got:

Photo%20Mar%2016%2C%2010%2059%2023%20PM.jpg

an obvious lie, since so many members here did get "freebies"

Really, you sent him an e-mail because you want a free item or some extra service based on the fact that this thing is selling fast. They are trying their best to get it to people, this despite the fact that people in japan, where some of the iPad specs are made are going through a lot of drama. Still that aside. This happens in retail, this isn't the first product in history to sell out and people wanted to wait on it. Get over it and wait and leave Steve alone or just cancel your oder and get a zoom or something. I mean really hasn't steve done enough by bring this product out to people, you'll get in soon, stop acting like a little child with the whining.

@diamornte

I am glad you see how your logic is flawed. ^

Although i do have to admit that my examples: japan made a bit more sense than comparing my email: japan

The Japan part is not just a sympathy thing. Japan is a supplier of Si wafers and various chips for many electronic products. According to CNN and Digitimes, Toshiba-Japan produces 35% of flash/NAND memory used in tablets. Their production is cut due to power outages. This is after reduced production earlier this year due to other issues.

"Toshiba holds a 35% share of the global NAND flash market, supplying chips to consumer electronics vendors including Apple and flash card companies such as SanDisk, and for many new tablet devices.". http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110314PD210.html

Chose to neglect? He's a CEO of one of the biggest companies. He doesn't need to even look at your email, let alone reply to you. Go email a CEO of another big company and let's see what happens.

Dude you need to see a psychiatrist. I'm out. Good luck with your quest to get free stuff.

which is why if you read more than the first line you would have seen the "At the end of the day, I give him props for even replying"

Ok let me try to break it down then..

you said

my email: japan -> tiny issue

i said (according to your logic) I can just as well say

japan: big disaster -> tiny issue (trying to point out that anything is RELATIVE)

at which point you say (idk why) that

big disasters: my email -> tiny issue (contradicting what was said, aka if "email < japan" & "japan < big disaster examples" => "email < big disaster example" which is indeed correct and not the other way around)

However, my point had nothing to do with comparison and everything to do with relativity. I simply pointed out that using your logic you can make anything seem unimportant. My email is not the biggest concern of the universe atm. No one has said or tried to argue that, which is why I don't even understand why you brought up japan in the first place and why you tried using sarcasm to mock me when I clearly agree that my email is insignificant in the bigger picture.

My quest was to understand why I was getting BSed... the free stuff was a bonus I wasn't expecting to get anyways. Take care man... hopefully now what I was trying to convey makes more sense

I have less than zero respect for anyone who expects a free iPad because of product delays.

Wow. Beyond spoiled. Beyond hopeless.

I'm sure I must have misunderstood the OP and he really wasn't expecting such a thing.
