Nahh I ordered online and got mine yesterday. Best of all I didn't have to stand in line with people like the OP.
I wasn't expecting anything for free, I was just asking why some people are getting it (free covers/keyboards/$100) and CSRs were denying that it was going on. The main focus of the email was to ask why the hell were all the different CSRs giving me different stories about my shipping info and denying it was delayed. While Steve Jobs admitted it was delayed, he didn't comment as to why I was being told different things
Cool story. Doesn't change the fact that you have contacted customer service "5 times" even though the iPad is not late. If you ordered on Friday the 11th, today, Thursday the 17 is the far end of the quoted 3-5 business days that it will ship on.
Please, if you're not so entitled, tell us why you have contacted them 5 times already, and why you're asking people to comp you free stuff?
When you check your order status on your apple page, what breakdown of dates does it say? I would like to see a screen cap of that.
I ordered Friday at 12:45am pst, was quoted ships between 3-5 days and delivers by March 18-25. I still have not received a shipping notice, and I am still confident that I will get mine within the quoted dates.
Is this **** for real? You would think that given his situation with cancer and being a very busy person to say the least, that you would even be honored he wrote back. Unless I'm missing something here..
I've said it already (maybe in a different post) but I'll repeat it again. I called because my neighbor who ordered the exact same thing (after me) got his shipping info on Saturday (i believe) and got his delivered on Thursday, while mine, which was ordered at 12:46, was still showing "not yet shipped" (changed to prepared to ship 2 hours ago). I called in on Tuesday and I was told that mine will ship tomorrow (wednesday) for sure. So because I was suspicious of this guy's promise and it was already the next day I called to see what's going on since I was told my order would ship by then. And then the BS began which is why I kept calling and kept getting different stories.
And not to bring your hopes down, but according to CSRs the 5th day is actually Friday... Apparently they don't count last Friday, because they are "cool" like that...
So I believe any normal person would understand why I would be mad when THE SAME EXACT ORDER was shipped and delivered next door to me, while I wasn't even allocated an iPad with my name on it by that point.

But you're still not past the quoted time by Apple, correct?
It doesn't matter if every single person on your block got it before you as long as they are within their quotes.
I am sorry, but you sound a bit spoiled and entitled. Just face it. You have not one person agreeing with your attitude towards this in this thread yet you persist.
You ask for free stuff when nothing has been done wrong to you. You want what others have, but for no reason other than the fact that they got it and you didn't. That is the very definition of entitlement dude.
Just think of your neighbor as lucky and you're just normal. Instead of the other way around and that you got shafted and Apple owes you something.
Why would I expect anyone to support my point in a forum that consists of apple fans that are true to their leader no matter what. I agree with your point that its still in the quoted time, but its not like I am demanding something more than what others get, I am just asking as to why I am not getting the same thing, when it was clearly achievable. (case and point - my neighbor) I would have dropped the whole thing if one of the CSRs told me it was delayed or there was a problem, which is why my neighbor got it and I didn't, but they kept insisting that everything was in order and things were getting shipped on "first come first serve basis" (obviously not). And as far as the reimbursement for my cover - it was more of a hope than a demand. I just asked if its possible, since others are getting it and they just denied anyone was getting it at all (again, false). So I am guessing all those people are lucky.. and I am normal? Ok, maybe they are lucky, but I am unlucky (not just normal) and it would have been nice if they admitted that, instead of denying it (Which is why like I said earlier, I am glad Steve Jobs actually admitted to their delay, instead of denying it)
What does this have to do with being a fanboy? The logic would apply to any situation that you acted like this.
Oh, you have heard of a very minor few random posts of people who bitched to CS about their iPads being late (which they were not) and decided that you should have that too. That is ENTITLEMENT. The vast majority are getting exactly what they payed for and nothing else. Why is that unfair to you in some way?
Achievable by being entitled and persisting.
You are not unlucky. You are spoiled from the sounds of it. Like I have already said, I have not received ANY of my order yet. I got two iPads coming, 2 cases and a dock.
If they don't ship by Friday, I will maybe say something. If I don't get them by the quoted time, I will definitely give them a call. What I won't do is try to get something out of them for nothing. Why would I expect that? Why should you?
You keep bringing up that you only called to find out because your neighbor got his. You should not have called in the first place is the point. No matter what twenty different answers CS told you, you were in the wrong to be congesting their lines inquiring about your iPad that was well within the quoted shipping time.
You should look up Louie CK's bit on entitlement. Or the episode of Louie where the guy is yelling at the airline check in. Hilarious stuff.
Lastly, I am not going to debate you on this anymore. Have fun trying to justify your behavior to yourself and others. Maybe one day you'll "get it". And by get it, I mean your iPad, of course

Because he is making it personal and commenting on things that have little to no relevance to the topic. But you are right. I shouldn't dignify some of the people with a response (but it sure is a nice break from reading haha)
I think its safe to say that all has been said and done and a mod is more than welcomed to lock this thread. I feel like the more comments are left, the more convoluted the conversation would become. Anyways, thank you all for the comments (the good and the bad). I don't think it turned out to be very productive, but its just a forum thread after all hehe.

I guess I've learned my lesson about sharing what I might think would be interesting to apple lovers and quite frankly the consequences are not worth it. I'll think twice about posting something I think is useful/interesting as it turns into the usual "omg, you are wrong... no, you are wrong... _insert unrelated topics_ etc etc". I am tired of repeating myself and answering people who didn't even bother to read what other people and I have already said. To those that are completely missing the point or lack the mental capacity to understand it and still think that my email was about me demanding "freebies" - its your loss. To those that actually had something useful to say, whether it was to agree or disagree with me - thank you for stating your opinion and presenting your arguments.

Yeah Steve was lying Apple CSR's are allowed to give $100 in complimentary stuff for disgruntled customers.
