OK I'm downloading at the moment so, forgive me if this has been asked before but under the link 5'm using it says;

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A DEVELOPER TO ACTIVATE USING THE NEW GOLD MASTER VERSIONS OF THE FIRMWARE.
____________________________________
You need a developer account or get your device added onto another developers device list to get your device to activate using iTunes.

What's this about?

You will see an activation notice on the screen about communicating with development server, but it will load anyway and apparently not lock anything on your phone.

Without me going through the whole thread:D

Is the GM a load better than the final beta?

Is it more responsive.etc .etc?

Thanks

So here's a weird thing i've noticed with the spotlight search. It somehow searches deleted email titles that have been completely erased from the phone. And if you click on these supposed emails it goes to the mail app and then crashes it. Anyone else have this issue?

Could someone else test my theory? Go into your mailbox, delete an old message then empty the trash, then go into spotlight search and search for the title of that deleted message and see if it comes up?

I can't say for sure but from what I've read it seems that the messages you're deleting from your phone are still being retained on the server and that's where spotlight is pulling it up from.

I think you can set it up to where messages deleted from your phone are also deleted from your mail server.

But they aren't on the mail server either, that's the thing. These are messages that have been deleted from gmail that are still showing up in the spotlight search.

I can't wait to post my list of GUI-related glitches with 3.0 next week. I really, really wanna talk about them. 3.0 doesn't seem as polished as I would have thought coming from Apple....

Also, nobody can say "It's still only a beta!" anymore... hehe. I'm getting ready to post all of my findings. Next Wednesday, look for my thread about GUI glitches in 3.0.... 7 days remaining.

What is wrong with you?

A2DP Bluetooth Stereo Works

Man my biggest wait is A2DP .... Did anyone try stereo bluetooth streaming from iphone.... I have been waiting for this for so long ... Please someone confirm .... If it works I will get the GM now ....

I was trying to get it to work with my Motorola S805's but, the little Bluetooth icon wasn't showing up at the bottom in iPod mode.

Strangely enough, toggling the Silent switch on the side by the volume controls made it appear.

It works well. A little hinky when I lock the screen manually instead of letting it auto-lock.

i re installed the software, this time opening to set up as a new iPhone, not from a back up, and it the words of s jobs.. it screams!

So the problem here was the POP3 address that I had on my phone. I just set that account to forward mail to my MobileMe account and now everything is fine. IMAP accounts deleted fine and would not show up in the spotlight search when they were deleted.

One feature in the 3.0 software that I think is HIGHLY underrated is the username/password autofill in Safari.

My workplace doesn't support the iphone, so if I need to check my email (which is frequently), I need to log into our webmail. I've tried password apps like 1password, but they never worked right for our webmail site. It became a HUGE pain the butt to have to enter the username/password everytime.

So far, the Safari autofill has worked perfectly. I would have been willing to pay for this feature.

So I do not know what I did wrong, but I downloaded the 3.0GM and tried to install it. It is the 3G version but my phone won't boot up now. Any ideas?

I could have sworn when I first got 3.0 going that in the messages application (when messaging a contact) there was a button at the top to call that person but I am no longer seeing it after the phone has been up for a while.

Other than that this update is rocking hard. Speed definitely better and I love the screen that shows how long the battery has got left before being dead.

Oh ya, AT&T sucks donkey balls.

peace out!

scroll to the top of your conversation for any contact and the buttons are there..

I have the same problem.
I use mobileme and spotlight still finds messages that I deleted, from the server and the phone.
Also, there are tonns os WiFi disconnects.

You sure they're not just in your deleted folder in Gmail? Deleted items, by default, just get tagged as deleted in Gmail but still exist on the server, which is why you can still search for deleted mail in Gmail.

you shouldn't even have to update it next wednesday unless they come out with a newer one (which they shouldn't). this is the version that is being released on wednesday.

Think about it... it is probably also the version that is being loaded onto all of the units shipping to us next week.

i still notice some issues. hopefully they are resolved before wednesday. Battery life seems to be brutal, and messages app is quite laggy. I did open "free memory" and free'd some memory, and that was a drastic change. Maybe there is a memory leak or something i am experianceing? Im not even useing any big apps. Just facebook and tweetie.

I have tried several different download sites of the 3.0GM and every time I try to install it, when iTunes tries to verify the software, it lock up and I get error code 10. I have tried 6 times, I am restoring back to 2.2.1 now. Any ideas?

Have you tried a hard reset?

Notes

I have a question regarding notes on the 3.0. Can you now tap on a phone # to start dialing or tap on a address to launch maps? This feature should have been there from the very beginning. Thanks

I am curious if 3.0 allows you to delete not only third party apps, but Apple Apps as well.

I would love to permanently remove things such as the youtube app (Not at all a fan of youtube).
