What frosts me is that when looking at the 27" online, you can click on the "Buy Now" tab. What comes up? The old 24". Very misleading considering they lead you to believe you can order the 27" now.

I usually am very relaxed when surfing the Apple site, but I cannot remember that kind of thing ever happening to me on the Apple site before.

just bought a new u2711 for $849 at dell for my work rig

had a 27" 2010 Imac for a week, that yellow screen sucked big time

2009 Mac Pro Quad Core new in box and u2711 = $2,600:D:D:D

I have a 3008wfp at home, best monitor I have owned

I just need a nice monitor for my laptop. I personally don't care if it isn't directly compatible with any other style of input. Yeah it is $1000 which isn't cheap, but the other two 27" monitors on the market that have the same resolution are actually MORE expensive. I kind of like the fact that it is optimized for exactly the purpose I am going to use it for.

Exactly. For people who only intend to use it for Macs can reap that $100 savings benefit without worry.

All I need this monitor is for my Mac Pro and will only be using it for Logic and gaming on the side.

I don't care if it doesn't have every digital connection on the planet. But to those who do need more options, then there are other options out in the market.

I... I've got some bad news for you fellas.

*breaks down in hysterical sobs*

I... I... d-d-don't t-think we're g-g-going to s-s-see a new C-c-cinema display this week...

*runs away delirious, screaming*

I C-CAN'T GO ON LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!

As we didn't get the 27" Cinema Display this tuesday, we at least got the new "iCanttakeitanymore", together with the Nano version dubbed "iHavetobepatient"

The wait is killing me. I sold my 24 the day they announced the new model. I was hoping to have my 27" by now.

Worst monitor I ever had. First one had dead pixels, replacment broke in 5 hours. Now have a nice 30 inch ACD (the one that is EOL'd) and love it. No gloss simple design... (and have a happy postdoc who has the dell replacement on his desk)

The store just went down!
It's actually happening

... not.
Now that was funny, wasn't it?

Waiting for both the 27" Cinema Display and the 5870 Upgrade Kit is just killing me..... GAH!

Watch I have a feeling Apple will delay the 27" due to "Manufacturing issues" as they always do....

At least you're not one of those folks who wanted the white iphone ;)

I bet 5 bucks that Steve stops by on this forum at least once a day and laughs out explicitly each single poster in this thread while staring on his brand new 27" ACD and using a second one as a tea pot trivet.

It's almost like Apple doesn't care about Mac users anymore! Damn Apple and their iOS LOVEFEST! /sarcasm

I am sure it's just a matter of lining up enough production so that retail stores can carry it. Next week, everyone will get their 27" and it will be awesome!

As for the 5870 upgrade kit, I am starting to worry about that one.

Looks like Apple changed back the 27" Display BTO option back to the 24".

noooooooooooo

well at least we know they have the sku data loaded into the store. that's a good indicator that it can't be far off.

i agree with whoever mentioned that they're probably trying to get some out to the stores for a simultaneous in-store and online launch.

i'd bet next tuesday.

my MacPro comes tomorrow so I'm very, very hopeful we're close!

Is the LED technology in the 24 and upcoming 27" visually superior in any way to the current 30"? I have the 30" right now but was considering selling it for the convenience of connecting the 27" to the Macbook Pro and built in iSight. Thoughts?

Anyone have an idea what this new 27" display from Apple will cost? also how will I get 5.1DD sound out of my MacBook Pro that doesn't have the audio compatible MiniDisplay Port.

Also will I be able to hook up my PS3 and Xbox 360 to the display?.

This display is Mini Display port only. So if you are trying to hook up a device that doesn't have that output (PS3 or 360 for example) you are out of luck. There are converter/scalers available from companies, but they all cost $100+ and it's a bit of a pain to use instead of a display with built in HDMI input.

As for the cost, the list price (in the US at least) is $999 USD.

The display doesn't do 5.1 surround because it only has two speakers in it, it shows up as a sound device in OS X.
