So... No white iPhone 4?

I find it hilarious that people that have no intention of getting the white iPhone continue to pop in to white iPhone threads just to talk about their black iPhones. We get it, you guys couldn't resist throwing money at apple the very moment they started taking orders, rather than holding out for what you really wanted.

seriously though, are the media members just retarded or are they specifically instructed NOT to ask about the white iphone in their invites or something?? I hope it's the latter, cause it's pretty ridiculous that not a single person asks about it.. and I highly doubt there isn't a single person attending the event today who isn't curious about it (as someone mentioned earlier in this thread).

I don't understand this logic. If the white one was released you couldn't exactly return your black for a white one, and obviously you couldn't wait for the white, so you bought a black...so why did you wait until now to convert it? Wouldn't you have done it day one?

It is a pretty odd situation. I've gone through every apple news site I know of and I don't see a single report of anyone asking anything about the white iPhone. A few apple execs are usually wandering around the floor after these events and I find it really hard to believe that interest in the phone is so low that no one thought to bring it up. Really odd.
 
I'm also one of the persons who are desperately waiting for the white iPhone 4.

To be honest I really don't know what to believe at the moment.

Problems with the colors may be a quite serious problem for Apple, if this problem ever was existent, but there are some repair stores who are selling white parts and in my opinion I've never seen outstanding mismatched parts. And - four months for fixing a problem regarding color? I don't think so.

For me there are some possibilities:
1) The white iPhone 4 is delayed because Apple needs to produce enough of the black ones to calm most of the people ("black is more popular") and will release the white iPhone afterwards. And there may be some, or even many, people who are waiting for the white one - but most of the people don't care so much about the color and just buy the black one. In the end I feel quite weird that I wait so long only for a color, sometimes..

I've had the black one just at the beginning (with a contract) but experiencing the antenna issues, I was disappointed and on top I was having an expensive two year contract. When I read how to get a cheap and "Lock-free" iPhone from UK I just returned the black iPhone 4 and thought: "Okay, so now you can also wait for the sexy white one, too."

2) Apple is working on another, modified version of the iPhone 4 (antenna fix, new features, CDMA, whatever..) and will release this version along with the white one.

3) The white one is cancelled.

I just hope Apple will release it this year. Because of Christmas it is quite possible.. Christmas presents = $$$
But who knows.
 
the more i think about it the more plausible it sounds that it is the colouring.

a friend of mine on another forum pointed out that at one point Jobs had some white iPhones infront of him, and he noted that they were different in colour (shade of white)

My belief is that its taking a while for the factories that manufacture the Apple parts to get a uniform colour across all the production lines, thus some iPhones will look different to others in terms of the 'whiteness'.

Until the uniformity of the white colour is present across manufacturing then it is just a waiting game.

I think its perfectly reasonable for Apple to delay the white iphone until a later date until this is rectified, 4 or so months is pretty reasonable imo. heres to hoping something is announced soon though.....
 
Why's everyone moaning just wait Steve already said later this year , it's nearly 8 weeks to Xmas we won't be waiting much longer beats the last few months. If not then go get a black one and stop moaning.

There were a bunch of white iPhones on hand at the iPhone 4 launch event. Those in attendance were allowed to hold/photograph/video the white iPhones. Not a single mention was made by ANYONE that has seen and held the white iPhones in person about any color variations. I don't know why apple is delaying it, but certainly the color is not the reason. They had a large batch of white iPhones that they felt were acceptable to be handled by the world media. They have the color matching down.

well when i first got my black one there were some issues with it and i just got a replacement. if the white one was announced i could've sold this phone and bought a white

The plausible reason I believe the white iPhone to be delayed is due to production. Currently Apple is selling every black iPhone they can produce, as such they will have to either invest in more manufacturing ability or diverge production runs to create white iPhones. As their current market base for white models is only speculation, I doubt they would invest in more manufacturing capacity. Which means that if Apple expects the white model to move at even 10% of the rate of black models, a very low estimate to be sure, they would need to make phased production runs to build enough supply for the release.

true but its also possible that all of the first ones were made at the same factory.

Goddamn is that dude hideous.

That being said I hope it drops by November 7th. I just got invited on a Disney World trip by my sister and her husband and I'd love to be able to take a handful of high definition videos along the way. Not to mention that the iPhone would eliminate the need for me to drag my Canon along. Plus the handful of WDW apps that would come in handy.

Urgh. C'mon Apple, dammit.

It won't be till after Thanksgiving. If it was the 7th they would made it public yesterday.

Black Friday is a good guess I think.
But they have to ship it earlier to be sure that on Black Friday the white one is available or, at least, ready for preorder. But because of the popularity and the high amount of sales on Black Friday let's hope the white one will be available until then.

We've waited for so many months, and this last two months (worst situation, but okay..) won't kill the patience I think. - If it won't be released this year, I'd be very pissed off.. But I don't think Apple would leave out the change of a high amount of sold white iPhones for Christmas. On top of that the production and shipping situation of the black ones is getting much better (UK 1 week).
 
I still prefer black because how it contrast with videos, but I gotta admit, that white iPhone 4 looks hot! The mag cover even put pink to match it perfectly. A white version shows less fingerprints and something different in a sea full of black phones. A couple years ago, I thought the G1 was unattractive, but the white model with gray backside was easily the best-looking.

My mom is getting a 3GS on her next upgrade, but I've been trying to tell her to hold out for a white 4 with a pink case. She is not the type that needs to stay cutting edge first, so a $99 3GS seems fine with her though.

Heck, even if the 5 come out a few month later, it won't be like a major update. I predict we get a "White Christmas" for the iPhone 4 this year.
