19 year old college student (20 on tuesday). The unibody is my first mac and i love it to death. I bought it myself.

Ive been thinking of selling my macbook on ebay and trying to get hopefully 1300........ i would like, thats still 100 savings from tax plus 130 from live cashback, anyhow i was thinking of selling it to get a macbook pro because of the better screen, bigger screen..., better graphics card since i game a little, and the better speakers. But im not a pro, most things I read online say how great the macbook is and i agree, and they say the macbook pro is for well pros... but i just kinda want something better.

So what do you use it for, im only 18 and dont really need it, anyone else out there who just kinda uses it for everyday stuff and a little gaming or w.e, please justify wanting it :)

also, with cashback you can get a new pro for around 1550 on ebay which would be amazing, thats cheaper than the 2.4 macbook

I'm 17 (18 in a month) and have had my MBP for just over 2 weeks. I use it for the normal stuff (web, iTunes, iPhoto, Mail, IM, etc), I also dual-boot Windows XP using VMWare Fusion and regularly use Handbrake and graphic design programs that are quite CPU intense (doing my designing seems like a breeze, but oh my does it easily heat up the CPU and extra 30 or so degrees).

I also bought the computer and everything that came with it (sleeve, iWork 09, AppleCare) with my own money that, yes, I fully earnt myself through work - it was $3650 altogether, and everyone is brand spanking new, but I was lucky and did get a good deal (it normally would have cost $4000).

I'm 42 and counting... lol

Switched from Windows around 2003, bought a Powerbook G4, then a iMac (white) which I gave to my partner, and more recently I bought iMac Aluminium on release day in August 2007, and MacBook Pro in December 2008.

Love them all, probably don't use them to their full specs, but I enjoy it so much compared to what life was like 'on the other side'.

Him and many other posters have already flaunted that fact, so I guess the damage is done.

i'm 23.... This post is making me feel old

im 21. and this post makes me feel old. i dont want to be you right now. :D

my first mac when i turned 20, a mac pro 08. (i did use my then 8y old P4 2.4 single core for audio fer 3 years, it just couldnt cope with it anymore.)

after almost a year i bought a unibody mbp, my second mac and my first laptop. :) its nice. but i guess 12years of desktops left a big mark that wont wear away that easily. especially now that the given mark is 8cores big :D

im a logic (ab)user.

You know, I didn't know that they had rules for age....

theyre on almost every decent forum on the 'net.
you have to "Agree" before you sign up. its in the first disclaimer, but i guess not many people read it.

Im 20 and the UMBP is my second mac, the first one was the whitebook:).
I use it for Music production(Logic), and everything else(web, gaming, itunes, iphoto...)

Love it to death and the fact it syncs all my photo albums and music library with my Iphone is pure win.

35 (or is it 36?), recent Mac user. Always had pc's (worked for +15yrs in ICT), really love this laptop. Find myself using my pc a lot less now (gradually switching to 100% mac).

I'm reading most of these posts and am seeing some pretty young kids, how do you pay for these 2000+ machines?.As for me the good ol Burger King helped me :)

This thread was just referring to MacBook Pros, nay? I don't think that any of that other information was all that necessary.

Anyways, as for the OP's question about money. If you consider 19 to be young, then I believe I have a very keen business sense. I buy and sell photography and computer equipment regularly which is how I raised the money to get a MacBook Pro. Legally I am unemployed though, save for a few photo gigs and some tech support here and there.

Sorry for the list... my first language is french. :)

I think being unemployed is a good thing because you spend more time using your computer at home. Like using your computer in a productive way... not gaming.

I'm employed & self-employed.

I wrote a thread about it here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/666333/

18 and Unibody 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro
I first had an early 08 Penryn but it had various issues so Apple replaced it with a unibody.
College student first year.
