Just went to try out bands in the Apple store.

My measured wrist size is 15cm, when I put that into the Apple store app it tells me my band size is 4 with the 40mm watch.

Using the Apple measuring tool in store it measured me at size 4.

Tried on in store
Size 5 - way too big.
Size 4 - just nice for daily use, possibly a little bit on the loose side for running (I usually make my watch a bit tighter when I run).
Size 3 - just a tiny bit too small

Sadly they didn't have any watches with solo loops in stock so I bought the watch and will order the solo loop separately. Will get a size 4 which seems the right size for me!

So for me at least the Apple website has been accurate.

I orderd the Braided band size 7 and it was loose. Since Apple makes you return the entire Watch to get a new band I decided to sell it on fleabay.

In searching I found people were getting, not asking, $150 for the band that sells for $99 on the Apple Store. Why, who knows. Anyway since I tried it on I listed mine as Open Box and sold it in a hour.

Problem solved.

I have been to 2 Apple stores since Friday and neither store was doing this . They are allow customers to exchange the band only. In fact I returned 2 AWs yesterday- 1 SS with braided band and 1 Titanium one with a braided band. I opened the SS one just see if I made the right choice and to see /try the woven band on. When I got to the store I asked to buy the band I tried on and employee returned the SS watch only and sent me on my way.

Right, so my braided solo loop has finally arrived. I ordered the watch separately with normal white sport band to avoid having to wait.

I printed out the guide and made sure the credit card fit exactly.

I measured my wrist so that the paper just met the number without pulling it tight and it was bang on number 10.

It fits just with a tiny bit of give. When I say a bit, I mean it won't move on my wrist but it doesn't feel tight. This is how I like it anyway.

Took the Blood Oxygen test a few times and it worked fine. Same with ECG.

I was really worried before this arrived as when I pulled the measuring tool tight I was showing an 8. An 8 would be quite tight and uncomfortable.

So you don't need to have a really tight band, it would be your preference ultimately.

It does look nice. It gives you the impression that it will loosen over time?

I used the print out and got a size 7, I also got a size 7 using a measuring tape (16.5cm).
However as I was close to being a size 6 (at 16.4cm the recommendation is for a 6) and based on this forum thread I went for the size 6 and it is a perfect fit.

Oh I have the same measure! Did you try the braided as well? I posted it before: my braided size 4 40mm was loose, comfy but it moves too much in my wrist and the sensors wouldn’t work fine. So I returned it, too big for my taste. I can’t stand a watch moving around freely.
Next week will arrive another size 4 that I ordered before, but the solo silicone model. So willing to check if that version will fit or if I’ll need size 3 in that one too.

I don't get that impression right away but lets see how it goes. It feels quite sturdy even though there is some flex.

I can get a really snug fit by moving it just a few centimetres up my arm.

I'd suggest in your case 5 for solo loop and 4 for braided... NExt weel I'll get my size 4 solo loop and Ill leave my comments here.

Finally i ordered the solo Loop 4 becouse i like the watch tight... I hope it does not tighten too much for 16cm :-(

SS gold AW4, I thought about getting series 6 in same but I don’t like the new gold, too yellow for me! I like the bronze gold from prev 2 versions!
Agreed, both the golds do not look right, the aluminum gold looks like the rose gold, on the screen anyway. And your AW4, is it a 40mm?

Is it dirty already? I see some dark smudges along the left side edge. Is that just the camera or what? Did it come that way?

My experience with the braided loop would be to size down one. I measured a 4 but 3 is the better fit. Apple needs to sell the watch and band as separate SKUs. Especially now that they’re selling bands that need a more precise fit.

I want to order a band but currently my Apple store is “appointment only” or “curbside pickup” and it just seems like a hassle to get the wrong size and to back right now

My experience today visiting my local Apple Store.

Interested to try both solo and braided solo loops, I measured my wrist at home to 170mm tight fit. Once coming to the actual store, I did measure with their size checker. A relaxed fit gave me in between of 7 and 8, while the tight fit was spot on 7. While trying the bands, the best fit I got was:

Solo loop in 7 (size 6 could work too, and although I like a snug fit this one might have been just a tad too tight)

Braided solo loop in 6 (braided size 7 was actually super loose)

For comparison, I wear my 44mm sport band s/m on the 3rd hole from the last (so 5th away from the watch) comfortably, and a hole tighter when going running or swimming.

Hope this helps you guys with your decision if you're not able to visit an Apple Store. Unfortunately they didn't have my sizes so trying my luck again tomorrow.

Anyone have 15.5 cm wrists? Curious what sizes work for the new loops for my wrist size. The tools seem useless. They say 5.
Me. But the recommended 5 is too large and the the watch moves around a lot. 4 is much better! I'd like to try 3 but you can't get that in 44mm.

Anyone wear Lokai bracelets that got a solo band that fits? What size Lokai and Regular Solo Band fits you. I am large which is 7in = 17.78cm. Which Regular Solo Band size it that? Per the tool, 7" is a size 8

It does seem like folks with larger sizes tend to me more to the measured size, whereas folks with smaller wrists tend to go down a couple sizes.

I'm thinking the reason for this is particularly thin folks will have wrists that are stay more narrow (or rather not increasing as much) going up their forearm - the place most under tension will be the outer edge of the strap. I think Apple is accounting for the average body type in their measurements. As well, it seems that the difference between each size is the same amount, so for larger sizes there is actually a smaller percentage differential (ie. going from a 1->2 is going to be a much larger apparent jump than from a 10->11).

If they added say a height and weight measurement in addition to the wrist measurement, they could likely have more accurate estimates. Either that or an outer/inner wrist measurement. But I'd think the latter might be somewhat confusing for most to do accurately.

I got the solo loop size 7 and it’s super loose.

Apple Support chat said to start the return/refund process, buy another one will take months. Another other option is go to an Apple Store to change it, however that isn’t possible (None Apple Stores in Ireland). They said the Authorised Resellers isn’t an option.

Anyone has got any other option by Apple?

Given how long I've had them - the one I wear most for five years - if they were going to stretch, they would have already done so.

Respectfully, you're missing my point completely. Given how you prefer to wear them, you haven't subjected them to any stretching force, so why would they stretch?

Unlike one that has been worn as snugly as Apple recommends - and so also unlike the Solo Loop, which is designed with that more pressured fit in mind - plus the stretching that's involved in putting it on and taking it off.

I'm a big Apple fan and have been a staunch defender and champion of the Apple Watch since it launched, but I fear this Solo Loop has trouble written all over it. As I said previously, time will tell - and I'd love to proved wrong.
