Some people may be measuring over that protruding little bone that sticks out on the side of the wrist (and more so on skinny people) but actually wearing the watch band higher up the arm past that little bone? Or maybe even the other way around? I don't get why there are so many different reports on the measuring and what size fits.

Third pinhole from the end of the band. I can squeeze to the fourth pin also for a more snug fit on the sport band but find that uncomfortably tight. The 3rd pin gives me some breathing room.

No I did not try measuring it as i don’t have a soft measuring tape at home to wrap around. I used the apple provided printout tool and made sure it was the corrected size using the credit card guide. I’ve attached pics of what it looks like, and i wrapped it snugly (note in the photo it might look squeezed but that’s cause I’m pressing my wrist against the table in order to take a pic with my phone lol). Also the apple in store tool showed size 7 too. Even the sales associate said they recommend going a size down, and gave me size 7, 6, and 5 to try on.

7 was a loose fit, 6 was comfortable with some breathing room, 5 was snug but not uncomfortably so. I opted for 6, but placed an online order unfortunately since they didn’t have the band i wanted in stock in store.

follow up - received my solo band in size 6 and attached photos to show fit compared to sport band s/m on 3rd pin

Snug fit with minimal movement. Given apple’s update on the solo loop potentially expanding over time I’m happy with the fit

The Apple sizing tool said I should be a size 6. My wrist measures approximately 16cm. I was using the very tightest hole on the M/L sport band (which I preferred over the S/M for some reason). Watch came today and the fit is spot-on! As others have mentioned, extremely comfortable!

Has anyone bought both solo loop styles? I'm wondering which one stretches more. It seems that size is one thing, but if one stretches more than another, then it might be wise to have a smaller size for that type. (Photos would be great, especially if there is a visible difference on the wrist.)

When I ordered I was guesstimating my size as I had no printer or measuring tape. I went with 40mm size 7. Then I started second guessing myself thinking maybe I wanted the larger Watch and ordered 44mm size 6. (As the 7 shipping times had slipped) I got the 7 braided today. Too loose. So hopefully the 6 fits & I like the 44mm 🤪 I’m thinking I may possibly be a 5 🤦‍♀️ Anyone have luck swapping the band at the Apple store?

I just want to add to this discussion that what has been previously stated in regards to Apple's measurement tool is true, at least with the braided solo loop. I measured a 9 so I ordered a 9. Received the watch today and unfortunately it is way too loose. I'm not even sure if an 8 might still be too big.

Problem is of course now I'm faced with returning the whole watch and waiting until late Nov for a replacement or purchasing a smaller band for $100 and still waiting until late Nov to get it. Either way a very poor AW6 experience for me.

Measured my wrist to 16 cm, Apples configurator says the braided solo loop is size 6, but that is way to big. I have to change it for at least 2 number down and get a size 4.

Can we have some pictures of the watch on your wrist

Just adding my 2 cents. I measured right at a 10 on the paper tool so I ordered a size 10 braided loop. Then read this thread and stressed that the band would be too big. I received it today and it fits perfectly. Not too tight and definitely not loose. Watch does not move when I shake my wrist.

I ordered the braided loop. I printed the Apple tool and ensured it was printed out at the correct size by putting my credit card in the area shown.

The Apple tool showed my wrist to be 7, so I thought to be safe I will order a 6 & 7 (as I have read some people say about going for a size less than shown).

Well the straps arrived today and the 7 was way too big and so was the 6. I'm now returning the straps and I have just ordered size 4 and 5 (size 4 is the smallest size in the 44 mm strap).

What’s the size of your wrist in cm? (Where the watch sits)

Yeah I measured 9 so I bought a 9 sized black silicone solo loop and it is just right for my wrist and my 44mm S5. But, your pic of the green braided loop looks so good I am going to get one of those as well:)

Well, Apple just updated its instructions for using their online tool now saying to pull it TIGHTLY around your wrist where you wear your watch. Under the original instructions where I left no air gap but not tight I got a 6 and my wife got a 5. When we received our bands both were huge on our wrists sliding up and down... I tried her 5 (one size down from mine) it was much better but still too loose, I was fairly certain then my right size was 4. For my wife I predicted based on what I saw she would need a 3... also 2 sizes down.

Well we redid our measurement using Apple's new instruction to wrap the paper band TIGHTLY around the wrist and I got 4 and she got 3... both 2 sizes down... just as we saw with bands and as this forum thread predicted. I ordered the new sizes but have to wait a few weeks unless I feel like tracking them down in Apple Stores...

PULL THE PAPER BAND TIGHTLY AROUND YOUR WRIST. Use tape to hold the "face" in place to make that easier. If you split two numbers pick the smaller number.

Ordered the 44mm Aluminum Space Gray with Charcoal Braided solo loop on announcement day and got a projected delivery date of November 12-18. The measurement tool put me at size 8 but very close to 7, while a cloth tape at 17.2cm was calculated as a firm 8, which I selected. But, after reading all 21 pages of this thread my thoughts are:

* FFS, I've ventured down one very confusing rabbit hole.

* When it eventually arrives in mid-November, more likely than not the band won't be my correct size. Based on some users' experiences I may actually be a size 6. Who really knows? Will it stretch beyond usability over time? Again, who knows?

* The nearest open Apple Store is 276 miles away so I'd have to ship both band and watch back to Apple around Thanksgiving time, and fat chance I'll get a watch back in the midst of Christmas buying time.

* I concluded that I'm stressing about something not at all important and remembered the adage K.I.S.S., "Keep It Simple, Stupid."

I cancelled my original order and instead selected the 44mm Space Gray Nike edition with the Anthracite/Black Nike Sports Band which will most definitely arrive in my correct size because I can tighten or loosen it to my heart's content. I save $50 and it will arrive October 8-15.

I immediately relaxed and will never have to waste another minute of my life measuring my wrist or thinking or caring about this totally avoidable mess.

Amen. This will be my first Apple Watch and I am truly excited. No hard feelings and good luck, folks!

yeah i used the household object route and according to that i was a size 7 but when the band arrive its way to large for my wrists i could fit it almost to my elbow lol im thinking im a 5 but theres like none in stock right now so i was wondering if theres any way i could make the band fit? like sewing it or something

I received my watch and solo loop today.

Prior to ordering I used the paper apple tool and wrapped it around my wrist to a point that I’d feel comfortable had it been exactly like a real watch, it measured a 7.

With the sport band I would wear it at the 3rd loosest hole with the S/M band.

Suffice it to say, the Apple tool was spot on and the size 7 solo loop fits me perfectly.

Could someone please clarify approximately how much smaller each size of the loop is? As I mentioned earlier, 9 is too big for me. I can easily put my index finger between my skin and the underside of the band. I’m wondering if I need to drop to 8 or 7. I definitely don’t want it too tight though. Thank you

Helpful info for me, thanks. I usually use the second hole on my M/L sport band but I can also wear it with the first hole just fine. I also measured a size 6, so I will go ahead and order a 6.

I measured using the printed tool (x20 after this thread) and using tape (17.5 cm) and ordered size 8. In the sport band, I usually use the third hole on the ML band, but can fit the 2nd hole. The size 8 solo loop is just slightly smaller than the sport band in the 2nd hole. So at least for me, the sizing seems pretty much spot on.

Watch was delivered today. I measured as an 11 for the solo strap and wear the M/L sport strap on hole 3. Solo fits perfectly, maybe a touch tight, but knowing it will loosen some it will be perfect. When I measured the 11 circle was dead center. After seeing all the incorrect sizing I checked again. Glad I'm not dealing with a return.

So I originally ordered an aluminum with a braided solo loop. I measured at 8.

Then I decided I wanted to splurge and get ti instead, and ordered that. Measured again but I got 7. So I ordered a size 7 solo loop.

Well my aluminum arrived today and I couldn’t resist seeing the braided band so I tried it on. It fit pretty well. It was a hair looser than snug. I think it is prob fine but one had major issues with AW locking of band isn’t snug, so 7 is prob better, though it was super comfortable at 8.

And I went with the regular solo loop however after feeling the braided I’m really tempted to pay the extra. It’s very nice.
