I measured between a 8/9 and got an 8. But if I match it up to the “snug” hole of a sport band it’s actually a little smaller. Thinking I might actually need a 9. But the frickin things are over a month out now.

Helpful info for me, thanks. I usually use the second hole on my M/L sport band but I can also wear it with the first hole just fine. I also measured a size 6, so I will go ahead and order a 6.

I honesty think that will be perfect for you and you won't be disappointed. I wore my sport band just a little bit tigher than you but not by much, because I prefer the 1st hole 90% of the time but could go to the 2nd hole occasionally. The size 6 solo that I have now seems almost perfect, if anything it could be a teeny bit tighter but not enough for me to want to move down to a 5. So if your wrist is ever so slightly larger than mine a 6 will be perfect for you.

I’m just not sure if I’m a 7/8. So I ordered both. I’ll life with the great sport loop I have for a while lol.

I actually was really liking the looks of the new cream color but I think I’m some on the different band style.

Hi All, first time poster here - I feel after getting so much good advice from this discussion, I want to share my buying experience with the hope it might be helpful to others. I just brought home the Series 6 Blue Aluminum with Blue Solo Loop. I hemmed and hawed over what size to get - I measured between and 8 and 9 using the Apple home tool, and 7 inches using a tape measure. When I enter the Tape measure measurements into the Apple converter, it says I need an 8 for a tight fit, and a 9 for a looser fit. I was going to place my order online, and I was trying to decide between 7 and 8, as many people in this discussion have sized down. After reading here about ordering the wrong size, and having to return the whole watch if you get it wrong (and wait until November until they send it back), I decided to order an 8 and scheduled pickup at the Apple Store so I could replace an incorrect size on the spot if need be.
They delivered my watch to me outside the store, then they walked me back in the store to try on different size Solo loops. They were very efficient an accommodating. I would call myself a “watch guy”, as I have several nice mechanical watches with both leather and stainless steel bands,as well as a couple of Garmin‘s, and wear a watch everyday. This is my first Apple Watch. When I tried on the size 8, I immediately thought it felt too tight - not constricting, but not comfortable either. There was really no give, and I felt that wearing this, I would be conscious of the watch on my wrist all the time. I then tried the size 9, and it felt comfortable - I can slide the watch down my arm by about an inch, but the watch does not slide itself, even if I shake it and try to get it to move. I do see a little space under the strap when I look down the side, but again, it feels comfortable, doesn’t move, and this is the way I like all my watches to feel. I have been wearing it for a few hours now, and I made the right choice. Apple swapped the size out in the store with no hassle.
Bottom line, my opinion is that it depends on how you like your watch to feel, so I recommend try before you buy if are able, or order a couple of sizes and return the ones you don’t want. Watch feel is personal, so “size up“ or “size down” advice for the Solo Loop is not the same for everyone - it really depends on how you like your watch to feel on your wrist. Hope this helps, and thanks everyone for all your great advice.

Ordered AW6 with Braided Solo Loop which won't arrive for several weeks. I measured the far side of 7, almost 8, so I ordered the Braided Solo Loop in size 8.

Apple stores in the area aren't open for AW sales or pickup. But watch bands can be ordered online for store pickup. So I ordered a Solo Loop size 7, picked it up and put it on my AW5. The fit is perfect! Although I was afraid it would be too tight, it's the first watch band I've ever used that feels like it's not there. It doesn't move around and it isn't tight. The perfect band. Can't wait to try the Braided Solo Loop when the AW6 arrives.

I think the issue is not only how some people use the sizing tool but also how people like to wear their watch, both position on the wrist and how snug they like it.

On launch day I walked into the local Apple Store, used the in-store disposable measure tape that showed an on point 7 - and it is a perfect fit for how I like to wear my watch with a bit of play.

I measured using the printed tool (x20 after this thread) and using tape (17.5 cm) and ordered size 8. In the sport band, I usually use the third hole on the ML band, but can fit the 2nd hole. The size 8 solo loop is just slightly smaller than the sport band in the 2nd hole. So at least for me, the sizing seems pretty much spot on.

This is what my guess is, that you should measure from the end of the watch face cutout and not the center where the arrows are.

Thank you for measuring the watch band. Now if more people did this then we can see if there is a variation in size 8 bands or not. Also looks like size 8 solo loop is 155mm. which is all apple could have done from the start so people wouldnt have to guess what a size 8 is. Maybe apple wanted to sell more watches and created this confusion in the first place. What will they do with all the returns? create more wastes?

True. I like a snug fit most times. And when the sports band gets on my nerves, i will loosen it up a notch. My watch is coming with a new sports loop so, that will certainly get me by until the Solo loops late next week.

I like the direction Apple has taken with the bands. As comfy as the Solo is, it will be nice to be able to say goodbye to the sports bands (for most everything else).
I have never liked the Sports Bands. I have given all of them away so I don’t have one now to help me measure for the Solo Loop. I measure between a 6 and 7. I like my watch bands loose. I ordered a 6 in the sloo loop and a 5 in the braided solo loop. I hope that’s ok. I don’t want to go to the Apple Store with Covid going on.

I originally bought a size 10 braided loop, which was too tight, so I returned it. (I should have sold it on eBay...) With all this uncertainty, I've cancelled my order for a large band; it's just not worth the headache.

Measured using the Apple sizing guide at an 8. Also used a measuring tape, measured at 7" which suggested an 8 or 9 with 8 recommended. Ordered both the 8 braided and 8 solo loop. Braided is a perfect fit, does not move up or down but not tight at all, super comfortable. Waiting for the solo loop to arrive Friday, I expect it will fit well also.

I’ve found that the size 10 Solo Loop that I initially selected actually has a very good “practical” fit.

The initial impression was that it was a bit on the loose side, but the watch hasn’t moved at all, even through a rapid-fire pistol session, the sensors all work as designed, and the security and comfort is off the charts. I still feel a bit like I might like it a half-size tighter, but I also think initial impressions based on previous wear patterns might need a day for a re-set.

My 44mm Inverness Green Braided Solo Loop - Size 8 arrives today... out for delivery now... hoping this fits.. If not may try to sell locally to someone that can use it versus taking the time to send back to Apple. Then have to wait for stock on the next size..

UPDATE: received... should have gone with my gut and went down to a 7.. The 8 will end up being just a bit too big.. bummer.. now the hassle of returning and waiting...

I received my Series 6 Apple Watch yesterday. For those curious about the Solo Loop sizing here’s a pic comparing the 44mm Size 7 to the Sport band on the 3rd hole of the S/M size band where I wear it. I measured exactly halfway between a 6 and 7 on the printed paper measuring tool and decided to go with the 7 because traditional logic on most things is to go with the size up if in between. This 7 fits just snug, as I like it, but not tight. I feels very similar to how the Sport Band feels on hole 3. However, there is a lot of play in the band and I could have also fit well in the size 6 for a little tighter fit. The watch does not move around on my wrist at all, but if the band relaxes over time it could become too loose. We'll have to see. Here's a picture comparing the size of the bands I described.

did it end up fitting ok?

Yes, now that I have been wearing it for day, I am more sure the fit is correct (so solo 8 = M/L sport band hole 2 to me). A sport band in the snug almost too tight hole, which is good for swimming or running or working out, is too tight for everyday, but the solo loop can as tight or even tighter but doesn't feel that way because it is light and stretchy.

Nice. Yeah I ordered the Braided Loop and measuring in inches told me to order a 7 but Centimeters said order an 8. I ordered a 7 initially but might need to change the order.

So after a day with my size 9 black I decided it felt a tad too lose. Not bad, but if it gets loser over time I’d be concerned.
So I went to the Apple store and exchanged for a size 8. Much happier.
They didn’t have black in my size, but did have a dark green which I was sort of thinking of getting. So settled for that and couldn’t be happier.

Watch arrived today with the Blue Braided Loop, was between a 7 and 8 on the sizing tool, so went with the former to be safe.

Just tried it on, and it’s too loose.
Now to find someone who has a size 6 I can swap with/buy from, or endure the wait for the right size from Apple and make do with one of my older bands for the time being.

curious, what is your wrist size if you measure with a tape to compare with others here

Hole 3 small band as well. Thanks for the pic. I also measured at size 7 but was worried about fit. This is reassuring

I got my solo loop with the watch today. Paper tool had it as a size 9 and its a good fit. Same as the braided loop, despite the different materials.

Really impressed with the band, very nice and soft materials used - I was expecting it to be the same as a sport band, but its much nicer.

I got 40mm size 7. I thought it was loose. Today I received 44mm size 6, I think that might be too snug 🤦‍♀️ First time apple watch owner and I did not know what size I wanted so I ordered both. I still can't quite decide.. going to wear each for awhile and see which my wrist prefers.

I also liked the feel of the braided loop whilst I was in the store, but car insurance, new fences and curtains are all higher priority for me right now!

i have the smallest size the 44mm allows and its still very slightly loose but doesnt move around, guess i just have small wrists.
