Heads up, folks.

I measured my wrist 4 times with a new tailor cloth measuring tape. I measured 6 4/16” inches. Apple stated I was a size 6 (for the Solo) and if I wanted snug a fit, to order the size 5. This article indicates I would be a 6 with the s/m sport band.

I happen to be looking at a new order on the Apple site earlier and saw my local store had reopened. I hustled over and tried on the size 5 Solo loop thinking it would be snug; it wasn’t. I ended up leaving with size 4.

If your local store is open, I encourage you to go try the bands on in person. If the local store isn’t open, size down. The difference in sizes is very small. If you don’t, you may end up having to do 1 or more returns.

After getting sized for 4, I immediately canceled the size 5 loops I had order over the weekend.

I have a 44MM Graphite.

I got 44mm size 6 braided today and it just fits pretty well.

I didn't use the sizing tool, measured my wrist as 16.4cm and apple recommends me size 6/7.

I also took a photo of M/L sport, S/M sport, S/M Nike, and size 6 braided maybe this could help someone who is not clear about the actual length of the size 6.

The braided band is just slightly looser than the sport band or I should say it is more stretchy than the sport band.

I was one size out but it wasn't terrible. Happier now I have my 8. Happy I changed the colour as well. Glad you got what you needed.

BTW the white bands were the most common in stock if anyone is struggling to find their size. But I'm not keen.

Couldn't these bands have been made with holes in them like the regular sports band, but with the stretchy material? That way, there's no need for so many sizes. You buy the band, pick a hole that gives you a good fit. Then you take it on and off by stretching it over your hand, without fiddling with the holes again. Also solves the problem of what if the band loosens over time.

so how are these supposed to fit? are they supposed to be very snug or have some slight looseness to them? not that it matters as if i want a smaller band id have to use a size 3 and thats for 40 mm lol

White does look good but once it gets dirty, that won’t be the case.

What color did you get?

Glad you like your new watch.

You want a snug fit. With weather changes, your wrist size may change. And if you are an active person or planning to be, you don’t want a band that can slide on your wrist.

Mine fits snug but not so tight that it feels uncomfortable. Just snug enough that if it did stretch a little bit over time it wouldn’t feel loose on my wrists.

so then what should i do if its not perfectly snug and i cant go any smaller? i mean its snug to the point i can shake my arm and my watch stays in place but i can definately tell there's some give.

Depending on when I measured I got a 7 or 8. I went with an 8 before thinking I should have got a 7.

8 fits. Not snug but not loose. Seems good. Initially, it caring for the silicone material after being used to the sport loop. Need braided version.

If the watch isn’t moving unless your arm is violently shaking, i wouldn’t worry about it too much. I believe you may be able to go smaller sizes if you get the 40mm watch.

Give the solo a try. If you don’t like it or it doesn’t fit right, you have 14 days to return.

Since I measured at a 9.5 on the paper measuring tool, I was expecting my size 10 to be too lose when the arrived. Most people were saying get the smaller size if you are in between sizes, but I didn’t know that when I ordered.

But the bigger size works fine on my wrist. The silicone is slightly sticky and it stays in place.

If your band is slightly too big, I suggest wearing it for a day and see how it goes.

yeah im aware theres smaller sizes for the 40MM watch but i have always liked the 44mm due to the battery life and screen size even though i admit the 44mm looks big on my wrist lol. i moved the watch slightly further up my wrist then normal and now it fits great

  • 2 Days after AW6 announcement, printed the paper measuring tool. Credit card confirmed good print/size.
  • Followed the instructions and was a size 9 - ordered a size 9 braided loop
  • Started to see vloggers posting sizing issues...
  • Used my printed paper measuring tool (again) but pulled tight this time and was a size 8. Cancelled size 9 braided band and ordered a size 8
  • Read this thread (7-8 pages deep at the time) and cancelled the size 8 and ordered a size 7 braided loop - based on the size down recommendations.
  • Based on more posts in this thread, decided to also try a cloth measuring tape and came in at 6 14/16 inches (17.46 mm) - Apple recommended a size 7...
  • Given everyone's feedback to go a size down cancelled the size 7 and ordered a size 6 (WTF)
  • So far, no skin off my back. Ordering and cancelling is point and click.
  • Randomly checked my local store today for a braided size 6 in my color and they had one. Ordered it - in store pickup.
  • At the store - I asked to try their in-store samples first and used Apple's in-store measuring tool. It's like the printed paper tool but made of a plastic material with sticky-backing on the watch shape part of the tool. I came it at a 7.
  • I tried on the in store 7 braided loop and it was "just" barely snug - on the edge of loose. Not terrible and if it never stretched further, it would be perfect.
  • Tried on a 6 and it was nice/snug and comfortable. Not too tight at all, BUT with a little space to grow.
  • Left the store with my order - a new braided loop size 6 in the box. Canceled my earlier size 6 order.
If you want a braided loop - and there is an Apple store near you - my recommendation is to put the band size/color you want in an apple.com shopping cart - for the braided loop, consider looking for a size or two smaller than the printed paper recommendation. Check in every once in a while during the day for in-store availability. I randomly checked around 3:00 PM today and the band I wanted was available. If you find one, go in to pick it up and ask to test sizing first - with Apple's in-store samples. This approach beats waiting until Thanksgiving for one of these puppies and you know what size you are because you actually put one on.

hopefully these bands take a while before they stretch out because i cant get any smaller unless i also exchange my watch for a 40mm. if my band relaxes over time its going to be to loose and i would have to buy another one lol idk you be the judge does this look right?

I changed my band for a 7 from an 8 via Apple support. Hopefully it fits better. The 8 actually felt wonderful but wasn’t *just snug*. I had the same issue with the sport bands before. If they weren’t snug the watch kept unlocking. Sport loop solved it with infinite adjusting.

I thin one size down will also.

So I originally ordered an aluminum with a braided solo loop. I measured at 8.

Then I decided I wanted to splurge and get ti instead, and ordered that. Measured again but I got 7. So I ordered a size 7 solo loop.

Well my aluminum arrived today and I couldn’t resist seeing the braided band so I tried it on. It fit pretty well. It was a hair looser than snug. I think it is prob fine but one had major issues with AW locking of band isn’t snug, so 7 is prob better, though it was super comfortable at 8.

And I went with the regular solo loop however after feeling the braided I’m really tempted to pay the extra. It’s very nice.

When you return the watch with the braided loop you can ask to buy the band which is what I did on Tuesday.

I ordered both the SS and Titanium watch because I didn’t which one I wanted- The SS was with the braided band and Titanium was available with a sport loop for in store pickup.
When the SS was delivered I realized I wanted the titanium one but loved the braided loop. When I returned the SS at my local Apple store I asked if I could buy the braided band I had opened and tried on and they let me do it.
