Many people like the new loop bands but if you’re a runner the wrist would probably not get any air at all and it would be so sweaty 🥵 so probably not a a good band for someone who runs a lot and the wrist gets sweaty.

Isn’t that how all watch bands work? Haha. You can get a size up for a looser fit or down for a tighter fit. I can tell you the sizing from the store is spot on and it’s easy to move around when you want to, but doesn’t go anywhere if you don’t. It’s magical.

Just received my braided charcoal band, size 8 for 44mm. I normally wear my M/L sport bands at 3rd smallest hole.
The size 8 fits exactly how I like it. Not too tight. Has just the slightest amount of play but cannot turn off my wrist. But not tight enough that it’s going to leave a weave imprint on my skin. Might be not quite tight enough for a long, sweaty run and get good HR measurements, but probably wouldn’t wear this for that activity anyway (I wouldn’t want the weave getting sweaty gross).
My wrist is just about 6 7/8”.
Pics attached. The woven band is shorter, but obviously has less slack than the less flexible sport band.

Which is consistent with my experience, I'm a 6.5 and the size 7 is perfect. ~1/4" increments with the sizes.

I run a lot and prefer a band like this to the sport band or sport loop. If it gets dirty, just rinse it off with cool water. Unless I end up being hyper sensitive to the materials in the band, I don’t see it being a problem.

I think this is going to be a problem. You might measure as X but some people like a certain feel. Tight or loose. I don’t think it is something people are considering when measuring. I see lots of returns.

Actually I prefer it a little tight. I do running a lot and it’s much better for an accurate heart rate measurement. What’s more, I’ve noticed that O2 blood measure needs that tightness to be precise. In my 24h experience with the S6, wearing a not-super-tight sport band gave me around 91%. When changed to the sport loop and fastened it just tight, all measures were around 98%. So...

Measured at home - 9
Measured in store - 8
Purchased braided - 7 (it's crazy stretchy)
Purchased silicone - 8 (very little stretch)

Measured at home: 8
Measured in store: 7
Purchased braided: 6

I tried on the 7 and it was loose despite the Apple store measuring paper showed me exactly in the middle of a 7. I’d highly suggest trying your band on before you leave the store in case you have to return it.

Love that band but I sent mine back because I didn't like the gap between the lugs and the Watch. This is not how it's pictured on the Apple website. The lugs just seem too short. But maybe that's a function of the braid design?

Apple's sending me a replacement but I just may cancel between now and then if they are all like this.

(Funny how I became picky when the price became $99. :))

I went in to my Apple store today to try on the braided loop. Measuring my wrist at home suggested I’m a size 5 and this was confirmed in the store when they remeasured for me with one of their tools.

however upon trying the 5 it was too large and the 4 was about right.

So for me Apples size guides are one to one and a half sizes too large.

Oh really? Could you share with us the cm or inches of your wrist?

When I run, my wrist gets pretty damn sweaty. I usually wear a sport loop and about 1/3 into my runs I have to crank down on the size to keep it from slipping or losing a heart-rate signal, and loosen it back up again the moment I stop (or it hurts my wrist). I just can’t see myself wearing the solo loops for running given how much I adjust the size while running.

My quest for one band to rule them all will continue.

I am on the same quest.

The Solo might not be my go to band during winter, when I have on special skin tight Under Amour running clothes to keep me warm. I will have to experiment.

By the does the watch settings show how often and at what intervals the watch records SPO2 in the background?

15.5cm

I’ve got really skinny wrists. Wear a S/M Nike band with pin in the 4th hole on my S3 (although on the S6 it seems the 5th hole is better!).

Oh mine are smaller LOL I’m 15 cm exactly, but also uses 40 mm S/M 4th hole from the top on all my watches (fits comfortable, can go also on 3rd but too tight). I picked up size 4 so now not sure if it will fit me or it will be big, now that I read your case 🧐

Haven't seen any "actual" reports so far...

Except for iJustine, but I mean, what she did with the sizing tool was actually a mess, she hadn't even cut it out properly...

I've used both options: Sizing tool and also manual wrist measurement. Both options resulted in size 7 (16.5 cm wrist size). Bu I won't receive my watch and band before Wednesday, 23rd...

Edit:
I see @Sparkie_e has posted an actual report. Makes me nervous right now...
iJustine is like Alicia Silverstone in Clueless, that”s why

I was chatting with Apple Support about my SE order and casually asked if I could book an appointment online for my local Apple store and try the bands on there and they told me they're allowed to do that. Obviously check your region to see if your store(s) has re-opened.

I used a measuring tape and that calculated to be a 9 -1/2 so I ordered a 10 as I prefer a looser fit. I ended up doing in-store pickup yesterday and used their sizing tool, which also came back 9 - 1/2. I kept the size 10 and I’m very happy with it.
When you use a sport band, where do you have the pin?

I’d say you’ll probably find it ok the loose side of snug. Shame the 44mm don’t go down to size 3!

I just did the online Apple sizing guide again. My wrist is 15.24cm and it suggest a size 5 for me. Earlier in this thread, several posters were suggesting using the sport band pin method with the paper guide, which could give me a size 6. Lol

I just canceled my size 6 orders and placed new ones with size 5. I am positive I got an accurate measurement with the cloth measuring tape. I will find out next week if Apple is correct.

Since new watches should be arriving today, was wondering if we could get some feedback on Apple’s solo loop sizing accuracy

I printed the sizing chart (checked the scale with a credit card), and ordered a size 8. My watch doesn’t arrive until Monday.

Anyone mind posting how the solo loop fits compared to the sizing chart? I.e., sizing chart said I was a 7 and it fits tight, loose, perfect?

I measured just between an 8 and a 9. I tried both on at the Apple store today. The 8 was a little snug, the 9 a little loose. So I’d say the tool is very accurate. iJustine had not cut out the tool carefully, and, as usual for her, was a bit cavalier and flaky.

The problem is, even if you measure right, it can "feel" loose or tight depending on individual preference, which is why the guide can get you close but you may end up going a size up or down.
