Ordered my wife a 3. She sized as a 3 snug, and a loose 4. Originally ordered a 4 and then panic changed it to a 3. She now has a braided loop and it fits snug on her wrist. I measured twice on my wife, but knowing that it can always stretch I went for the smaller of the two. She’s happy as can be now. Make sure when you’re sizing with the strip to close the strip without a finger between the strip and your wrist to ensure you get the tightest fit.View attachment 955830
Adore that color.

Is your wife OK with the gap between the lug and the Watch? The lugs on my braided loop are too short and have too much gap on both sides and I'm returning it for a replacement.

Just got back from the Apple store today, tried on the rubber solo loops for both the 40mm and the 44mm. Here is my take

1. Forget about the printable tape, go with the "everyday object" option on the Apple site, which is that for a 6" wrist, it is a size 5. For every 1/4 inch up, add a size, for every 1/4 down, subtract a size. So get a real tape measure, preferably one used by tailors.
2. I measure 6", which is a size 5. I wear the regular size Nike sport loop with the pin in the third hole from the end.
If the pin is in the second hole, the watch would move around, if the pin is in the fourth hole, it would be snug. Having the pin in the fifth hole is impossible.
3. I decided that the most comfortable solo loop is a size 5, both for the 40mm and the 44mm. It does not stretch, and it does not move. Size 6 moves a little. It lays flat all around my wrist.
4. It is important to know that the solo loop is perfectly smooth on the underside, it does not have any bump or buckle or anything that would help to keep the watch in place. Consequently it is important to get the perfect fit. One size too small and you feel like wearing a rubber hand, one size too big and it moves around.
5. The rubber solo loop is extremely comfortable. I would get it even if I don't get a new watch.

I measured my wrist with a tape measure. The result was 14cms, the Apple calculator suggested a size 4, that’s what I ordered(braided loop). Should receive my watch next week, it was last tracked in the Netherlands 😎

Serious question, does anyone else's wrist change size throughout the day?

I have a sport loop so I have the benefit of infinite adjustability, and I definitely notice having to adjust my strap to be tighter or looser by probably a cm or more each way depending on what I'm doing.

The printed size guide had me dead center between 6 and 7. I ordered a 7 for my Series 4 and its just about perfect when I'm out and about. I could probably wear a 6 and have it be a little tighter when the weather is cold but it was just about spot on for me. I ordered a series 6 with a size 6 so we'll see which I like better next week.

Yes, everyone's does. It's why Rolex's have something called "Easylink" in the clasp that lets you extend the bracelet 5mm on hot days.

Guy at the store said he recommends people go 1 above their measured size. Turned out I needed to go 2 lower.

Measured in-store: 4
Actual fit: 2 tight, 3 loose, 4 too big, 5 way too big

They have now 12 different Solo Loops in 12 different sizes.
do they shelf 144 different boxes now in the stores plus the other bands? What a nightmare

It really sounds like a nightmare, but then at £99 ($100) for each braided one I am not surprised they are willing to make an effort.
Nice as they are, I just can’t believe the price of these things. I can afford it, but I refuse on a matter of principle.

If that's the case, I wonder how that will affect the fit of these non-adjustable bands. Will they just be too tight or too loose half the time?

Yes. right now I have a 44mm with a small size nike band on my left wrist and I have the clasp on the 4th hole, but there is a gap on the side of the band and I can fit a finger through. If I wear it tighter it looks better but presses too much on the inner wrist (veins etc). By the end of the day it will slip down past the wrist bone sometimes and I end up switching it to the right wrist for the last couple of hours. I'm right handed and have more muscle on that forearm so the same clasp hole is more snug.

I measured my wrist at exactly 7 inches using tailors measuring tape. Apple sizing guide indicates that is an 8/loose 9. According to their printable tool I am size 7, so I went with the 7 braided loop because I can't stand a loose fitting watch. Hopefully that will not be too tight but from what I read on this thread sizing down is the way to go.

My main takeaway from this thread is that people aren’t reading the directions to print the sizing sheet at 100% instead of “fit to margins/paper”. Printing at 100% isn’t the default, you have to actively select it. If you don’t your size could be off by 2-3 sizes depending on your printer. Their guide was spot on for me.

also, it depends on how you like to wear a watch, I like mine tight to I kept the measurement tight. My wife likes a watch to be able to slip up and down half her forearm like a bracelet.

If that’s your main takeaway, you might want to re-read the thread.
You don’t effectively miss measure your wrist by an inch unless you or whoever is doing it is doing it wrong in one way or another. I have a 6.5 inch wrist, to be three sizes off I’d have to measure it at 7.5 inches. A better system for those that already have a sport loop is that with the S/M end, if you use the loosest hole, you’re a size 9, next to last hole, an 8, 3rd from the end, 7, and so on.

Wow this system is actually spot on for me (but so was the cut-out). 4th from the end, ordered a 6, fits perfectly.

According to your system which you probably saw on Reddit, I would be a 6. I measured by wrist exactly with a measuring tape and the Apple website says I am a 5 having a 6 1/16” wrist.

3rd hole from the end on a S/M sport loop and a size 7 solo loop, identical fit.

I did wonder earlier if they could also have had a sizing option where they tell you to get a Sport Band and count while hole you use on the strap which would match a size, but I guess there it would depend on the size of strap used.
