I'm going to try running with SBSettings off but have wifi and bluetooth on and test the results. I might actually end up getting bettery battery life leaving them on instead of using another app to be able to toggle them off and on with ease.

Well after testing this last night my battery still only drains about 5-6% overnight. Which is almost half the amount as having SBSettings on my phone.

Iphone was in locksreen mode since like 8am this morning.. Took it out to send 2 texts.. Dropped straight from 100 to 98..

Just have 3G, PUSH on 1 gmail account. brightness is at 50%..

I also have openSSH but its turned off according to Sbsettings..

Im usuage of about 25min, and standy by of 4hours 57mmin and my battery is reading 94%...

No winterboard.

Wtf is going on?

It doesn't matter whether or not sbsettings reports openssh is on or off, it doesn't matter.

Try changing that Gmail account off of PUSH and onto fetch every hour. Also try doing a battery cycle, you know kill the battery charge it to 100% then repeat this a couple more times.

Send a few texts using biteSMS.. Now im at 89% with a usage of 39min, standby 5h 29min..

Somethings clearly not right here..

EDIT: Just removed OpenSSH see how it goes..

So, all apps other than skype works like they should with 3209?

Yep. Even Skype should work it just won't background properly. Not a big deal.

I really do think 3209 is the solution to my problems.

But to each his own, and Saurik has a point.

What is this supposed to mean?

So now im down to 80%.. I had to respring due to the toggle change in sbsettings so now i lost my usage stats until next charge..

but either way battery is draining infront of me lol..

I typed that in a hurry, what I meant is under normal operation openssh actually drains no battery and it lays dormant unless something knocks on port 22.

However, have frequently experienced openssh in a bugged state where regardless if it is on/off in sbsettings, it drains a rediculous amount of battery constantly. I have remedied this by just reinstalling openssh (but it could happen again in the future) or uninstalling it.

Well im down to 62%.. and all ive been doing is txting using biteSMS 4.98...

I used like safari for like 2minutes not even..

Sbsettings is removed and so is OpenSSH.. i did a reboot.. still seems to be happening..

That does seem like higher than normal battery drain, unfortunately it seems you are having a different issue. :(

I don't know why you consider this a problem.

Considered normal when your usage is at like not even 2hours.. and your standby 7h that your down to 59%? Thats normal?

Also its normal that you see it go down 1% everytime almost every time you unlock it to check the txt msg ~3-5minutes..

I have about the same battery usage as you, and disabled OpenSSH and downgraded MS to 3209.... It's a shame... I mostly used it for text message too and I noticed it's around 60% after 2h of usage (of texting !) and 7h of standby. And same as you, when I "unlock" it to see some texts, sometimes I see it drop 1% ... I'm beginning to think our battery is simply dead and it isn't related to the jailbreak but I don't want to change it to Apple so they give me one without 4.0.1 SHSH saved :(

Well i drained mine completely..

Its charging now through the wall. We'll see how it goes after this..

SbSettings and OpenSSH is still removed.

I sure hope its not a dead battery.. As i dont have apple here around me and i sure dont want to pay 35$ for the early replacement fee and neither do i want to be without a phone..

guys question. last night i played plants vs zombies for exactly one hours before going to sleep and battery went from 70% to 36%. is this normal?

I dont think that game is too intense on the phone... I dont know how it went down soo much.

So i fully drained&charged battery.

So i dont know if this is better but.. after about 1:45h standby, 44min usage (Almost all which was a call while on 3G) Also being connected to wifi. My battery dropped from 100 down to 94%.

I left it overnight.. 3G, wifi, PUSH 1 gmail account.. and i was down at 91% (seems good??)

Now the phone is at 10h 31min standby, 1h 1min usage and at 89%.

Does this seem reasonable? The usage on it has been minimal tho i didnt really send any txt msgs and thats what seemed to have drained it yesterday really quick so im gonna keep monitoring the battery

sometimes batteries have some kind of bugs from bad use and practically looses some percentage although you are not using the phone. mine e.x has a loose point between 95%-90% and from 90% and so the phone's battery is fine.

as for the plant vs zombies i googled and found out that the game generally has a serious problem and read a lot of reports for draining batteries playing this game. i know, looks simple for doing that damage but obviously it's not.

I'm not sure some of you understand the rated battery life of an iPhone 4 (or any iPhone for that matter).

Here is the rated battery life for an iPhone 4:

Talk Time - 3G 7 hours / EDGE 14 hours
Web Browsing - 3G 6 hours / WiFi 10 hours
Video Playback - 10 hours
Audio Playback - 40 hours
Standby Time - 300 hours

Overnight, after 8 hours, you will lose 2.7% battery (8/300). If you talk for 45 minutes on 3G you'll lose 10.7% (.75/7). These are all approximate numbers, with some days getting better and some getting worse. If you do several of these operations (like talking on 3G and then surfing on 3G), you need to add the losses for each time spent divided by the rating for each operation. The bottom line is if you're around the type of battery loss rated for your phone, you're fine. I normally get from 6-7 hours web browsing on 3G and 10-12 on wifi, however, I never let the battery get to cutting off, so those are approximations, since the battery loss increases the closer you get to 0%.

Im starting to think what the real drain here is when wifi is ON and searching but not actually connected and there even seem to be networks it finds.

Iphone sitting on desk, not touched. 2h added on to standby drops another 2%.

Which is the same setup as at home, only at home its connected to my wifi while here at work its not connected to it. And overnight for like 8hours it dropped 3% total.. while at work 2h standby it dropped 2% alone..

EDIT: I connected to my works wifi, when i connected it the battery was already at 86%.. So i recorded the usage time etc.. And we'll see what happens now that im actually connected to it.

battery is awful!

left phone with wifi off and some other things off last night at 40%, woke up and it had 25%

i have bite, sbs, lockinfo, winterboard

this was on a brand new iPhone 4 with ios 4.0.1

all these you mentioned dont matter. i have them too and managed to not lose any percentage.

something i want to ask you. How is the reception at the point you leave your phone in the night?

3g about 2/3 bars...

no idea what battery goes down so much :(

well then try my solution. before sleep just put it in airplane mode. and see if there's any difference. i am sure you'll be amazed of the results.

i had bluetooth, wifi, data, 3g, push email and phone off and the loss was 0%!!!
