I've got this on my first gen iPad Pro 12.9". Unfortunately mine started doing this not long after the first year warranty stopped. Disappointing to see this in a recurring defect.

Yeah but what can Apple do in this case? Seems like a design flaw. If they replace these devices, in 1 year they'll have the bright spot again.

Refunds anyone? Getting a new iPad Pro?
Really makes me wonder since I’m in the return period if I should return mine and get a 2018 instead, but honestly I feel that could do the same thing. I’d hate to have to rebuy accessories.

Ive got a day 1 10.5" and luckily no issues here, just looked at full brightness, 'every day' brightness and minimum, no spot that i can see. #countyourselflucky

My iPad Mini 2 has been a trooper. Works great.

Is it just newer Apple stuff that has all the issues?

Finally I can say: Thanks EU! Got mine covered just after the 1 year Apple warranty ended under the mandatory 2 year EU consumer protection law. Apple Store Genius admitted it was a fault not caused by me, got a new one. Picked it up a few days after and new one isn't showing any signs of this.

But: Apple needs to do something, it's obviously NOT the users fault...

Thank goodness the UK are in the EU......oh.

Exchanged mine for a replacement in May, under the original warranty. Easy process. Been a known issue for a long time. Not sure why it's popping up now.

Damn, seriously? I was thinking of returning the 10.5 because I just got it and I have until January to return it, but where is there to go? The 2018 Pros are more expensive and could get this problem (and I always like waiting for the second iteration of a new design), the 2017 12.9 also has this problem even though it isn’t as widely reported, and now the 2016 9.7 does too? Very disappointing. Especially because the 10.5 is the perfect compromise of screen size and portability! Only the 2018 11” matches this but who knows if this will have the same problem in a year?

I totally agree, I love the 'IDEA' of the new iPads and had my pocket book convinced that it was going to be purchased soon. It looks so good, and has some great technology.

I used to be an early adopter, (since the inception of Palm phones) purchasing something new each year, I love the idea of bleeding edge tech. Sadly I have not purchased anything new since the iPhone 7 Plus, as I have seen a sharp decline in quality with new items. I am losing my patience and faith with every passing year when it comes to quality.

Thing is I’m not sure where else to go so I keep coming back to Apple. I can’t stand curved screens so no Samsung (tried a Note 9 and couldn’t even get a damn screen protector on there), I’ll never trust LG again after the G4 and Nexus 5X, Pixels are just dull and too expensive plus Google is an unreliable brand now (plus I had an original XL and I just ended up hating it after a few months, still need to sell that thing...), what else is there really?

I like Apple phones and tablets (computers are a different story), but then stuff like this happens and it’s annoying as ****.

My 10.5” had this exact issue. Took it to Apple over the summer and they replaced it on the spot. I have since sold it after upgrading, but the replacement did not exhibit any signs of this issue. The only good thing is that the replacement is still under warranty.

But still. The 10.5” display issue and now the 2018 iPad Pro being bent. WTF is going on at Apple?

Hey Phil, why don’t you use some of that courage of yours and own up to these design flaws?

That's where the GPU daughterboard sits underneath the LCD panel. I'm guessing too much pressure overtime causes a mura on the LCD panel.

Had this issue, used my credit card warranty to cover the payment of an out of warranty iPad.

10.5 iPad btw

My 9.7" iPad Pro started showing a similar issue about 18 months into owning it. I managed to get it replaced at an Apple store here in Australia for free in the 23rd month of ownership (our devices here are more or less covered by at least a 2 year warranty).

My first one, bought at launch, started showing this issue about 6-8 months later. The warranty replacement started showing it after about 8-9 months.
