My 10.5” is also showing this spot. At to go via the AppleCare route as there’s a possibility that the replacement will Los experience the same issue.

I’ve had my 10.5 for a little over a year and either don’t have this issue or it’s just not noticeable at all thankfully. A little ridiculous that something that cost about $1000 with keyboard and pen should have widespread issues. At least these don’t come bent out of the box though, so I guess we 10.5 owners should be grateful lol

Probably apple intended to do this to get people to buy apple care.

Wouldn't be surprised if the increase in Apple's services revenue is from sales of Applecare+. Maybe Apple's insurance business is why Warren Buffett has been investing lately.

Man, you need AppleCare as a necessity these days.

absolutely necessary. At one point i wouldn't have recommended applecare as the these devices don't fail. But now considering the quality issue lately i started recommending it as a must. And on the computers side. i stopped recommending Apple computers altogether. Hell expensive to repair and non-upgradable at all, not even by Apple.

I've had this issue as well. I Was told out of warranty - it's very disappointing because I only got this in June 2017. It's not that old. I checked this in September 2018. It's very annoying.

Hadn't spotted it until I sold my 10.5 via Kijiji back in early November. The guy who bought it used to work at the local Apple store noticed it right away. It really was very minor and he didn't think his Mom would notice. :)

I have a white spot like this near the lower left corner when holding it in portrait mode. I assumed it was due some sort of stress I could have subjected the display to, although no obvious times of stress to it come to mind. It never occoured to me that others could be having something similar. Feels like I've had it a long time so I'd have never thought that I'd get any support from Apple on it.

Which model does everyone have? I have the 10.5" 512GB Wifi+Cellular.

With how flimsy the body is on the 2018s, I wouldn’t be surprised if those do it too. I’m going to wait for the second iteration of the new design.

At 1:50-> Isn't this exactly the same thing happening to the 2018 models as well?

Apple's screens are crap. I've had iPhones, iPads, macbooks and all have never had a perfect screen . Red tints on the iPhones, discoloured patches on the iPads and the reflective coating on the macbooks. Now with the bent iPad issue I see no reason to buy an apple product these days. Currently using a Note 9 which has a PERFECT screen, ice white, no banding or discoloured spots, battery life that lasts forever and a camera that is amazing. Using a custom water cooled pc that runs crazy fast and all for less than a beefed up Mac mini.

Apple are done in my opinion.

Man i purchased apple care right after reading this article and the thread in the forums.. i just picked up a 10.5 up.. ****.

+1 10.5 iPad Pro here. Finally! So glad this is showing as a real problem. I had hunch this wasn’t my fault! Hopefully this gets some momentum and Apple is made to right this issue.

Between this and the infuriating keyboard issues of both my work and personal 2017 MacBook Pros... Plus now seeing they are ok with new iPads shipping with defects (the bend)!? This since 2002 Apple user is ready to throw in the towel!

My iPhone X is pretty much the only thing of any real quality that feels like it is worth what I paid for. Apple will never again be what it was during the golden years. It wasn’t perfect, but... I never felt truly cheated until these recent very expensive fails.

Apple seems keen on lining up their tv/movie content deals and all that. Or their new campuses. But yet they do nothing to address this clear decline in quality! It’s just so mind boggingly irritating how crappy these hardware issues are and how they just continue to put out expensive garbage.

It makes me sick to think about a $1000 iPad and a $4000 laptop (and then another $4000 laptop if include employer’s)... nearly $10k worth of just shotty hardware all less than 2 years old. Hell the lap tops are still less than a year! Just INFURIATING.

Add my iPad Pro 10.5 Wifi 64GB to the list :(
I have several spots with different sizes and different brightnesses…

Let’s hope Apple recognizes the issue and tries to turn us into happy users again :(:apple:

Honestly... what hurts the most about these issues (and the MacBook Pro keyboards) is that it sucks the joy out of buying Apple products. Because now you have a splinter of worry in your mind. More not “if”, but “when”.

And it doesn’t matter that you have Apple Care! Because you have to deal with scheduling a Genuis Bar appointment and then gotta make the time. Plus they’ll likely be behind schedule. And if lap top, ain’t no way it’s getting swapped/fixed right away. Lost time and maybe even work. It’s a terrible experience even if it is replaced or fixed. And that’s if your lucky enough to live near a store!

So yeah. These failures have sucked the joy out of getting new Apple products. Ugh. Just wish there was somewhere else to run. :-(

There is .Windows 10 isn't half bad these days, my PC has tons of power and is silent, and my Note 9 is amazing .

Yep. Just got apple care for first time ever on our Mac mini. That said our 3 year old first gen 12.9s are doing perfect. Our imac 2013 wouldn’t have made it with apple care because the lcd gave up the ghost at 3 yrs and 1 month.

The 10.5 that I had had a very quick battery drain. I found out when I bought it it wasn’t even 100% capacity out of the box, it was 98%, but I figured that wasn’t a huge deal. Well, I checked again lady night and it was already down to 96%.

So rather than exchange it for another and worry about the same issue, I just decided **** it and exchanged for the 11” Pro. I figured so long as it wasn’t bent out of the box I’m cool (it wasn’t). I don’t want to have to worry about this moving forward.

Add my iPad Pro 10.5 Wifi/4G 64GB to the list too
I have same problem with you guy, mine is already out of warranty. I hope Apple to give us a free repair or replacement program.

Mine too. Has had the spot for quite awhile (since beginning of this year at least). I bought my 10.5 (256 LTE) within the first week or two of launch.

How is this not a manufacturing defect at this point? I love using my iPad, but this plus the even bendier 2018 models is making it hard to like Apple.

My 2017 12.9" had a small version of this at the bottom left corner, however the device became defective not long ago and stopped working altogether, after some really bad customer service i wrote an email to Phil Schiller, later receiving a call from Apple executive relations and to cut a long story short, i got a new iPad Pro within a couple of days :D

If anyone is having issues and experiences bad customer service, i recommend sending an email to Tim Cook or Phil Schiller, you will likely get a phone call from the executive relations team who will resolve the issue for you :)
