Charged the case yesterday. It drained only 2% (from 100% to 98%) between 9pm yesterday and 9am this morning. But then, today between 9am and 6pm it drained 7% (from 98% to 91%).
Great! I'm now on my third load cycle. Experienced a constant Charge of the case for 6h, then dropped 20% in 1h while being unused all the time.

Hi,

got my airpods on 29 dec. I listen to some music with the airpods and then charged the case and the pods to 100%. Over the next 2 days I only checked the battery life:

Day 1

Time Pods / Case
00:14 96 100 go to bed (iphone not in airpod range)

07:20 100 96 (wake up iphone in range)

08:11 96 96

10:32 100 86

12:55 100 86

14:13 95 86

16:15 100 70

17:15 97 70

18:37 100 62

20:54 100 54

21:55 97 53

23:47 100 46 go to bed (iphone not in airpod range)

Day 2

08:17 100 46 wake up (iphone in range)

09:17 96 46

10:43 100 29

12:00 96 29

13:26 100 19 not @ home

16:46 100 18 back @ home

20:38 93 4

Everytime the iphone is in range of the airpods the battery drains. I hope Apple can fix this with an update.

After discharging-recharging mine and noticing less drain all of a sudden, similar to post above, the case dropped dropped from 57% to 32% in one hour with no usage.

I have also acquired a second pair in the hope that they would perform better - not looking good far either

This is a very interesting post. Think I might try similar and leave one of my pairs out of range and see how it performs.

First open after more than 21 ours, still 98%, IPad and AppleWatch bluetooth was turned off at this time.

Next open 2 ours later 95%, IPad and AppleWatch bluetooth was still turned off.

one our later still 94%, turned now IPad and AppleWatch bluetooth on
IMG_2457.PNG

again one our later with bluetooth on (iPad and AppleWatch) only 85%

@22.31 still 85% but AirPods are charging. Turned now off IPad and AppleWatch bluetooth
IMG_2459.PNG

17 ours later still 79%

so i get the most power drain when my IPad has Bluetooth activated. Bluetooth off my IPhone was always activated @ this test. AirPods are all the time stored in the case.

^ very interesting......my iPad is more or less always in range of my iPhone and AirPods and always has Bluetooth activated. This is another data point and worth testing too until an official line from Apple is released.

Update:
Charged them yesterday to 100% @ 23pm

Now the pods have 100% and the Case 95%. iPhone was about 7 hours in night not in range and 90min I was away for a walk.

"not in range" means more then 15 meters? In my apartment i am not able to get out off range, only 80qm with 4 rooms.

I took my Airpods off charge 5 hours ago and having just opened them for the first time today, both case and headphones are still on 100%. They've been sat in the lounge (where I have too) and bluetooth is on on all my devices. Doesn't look like I have a problem with mine :)

One point worth making is that obsessively checking the battery is likely to actually reduce the battery life as when you open the case, the AirPods will wake up and connect (which is how you can see the power level), and probably don't go back to deep sleep for a while

All of the above is what I'm getting. My case will last less than 2 days with no use.. And only checking battery every 8 hours or so. Been on the phone to Apple Support and in store.. None have the training to deal with such an issue - I am on my 3rd set now and all have behaved the same way.

I'm wondering if resetting the iPhone might fix this problem. For example, the "turn-off" signal may came from the iPhone. I currently have no strong WiFi connection, so may anyone try this?

Managed to reset the iPhone and had a small success as I experienced no Battery drain between starting the iPhone after restoring (no Apps and media loaded but iPhone being functional - AirPods automatically connect via iCloud) and checking the Case status 6h later after I woke up. But then it drained 10% in 1h without any usage. Seems to me being a software bug, like the iPhone tries to constantly connect to the AirPods.

Last night I turned all my Apple devices off (MacBook Pro, iPad Air 2, iPhone 7 Plus & Apple Watch 2nd Gen). Left AirPods on the side in case - all 100% and 8 hours later I turned everything back on and checked the AirPods - 81% so they are draining even without any Apple Devices on.

On the phone to Apple Support for a third time and third set - I have been told that I have to either change them for a 4th pair or a refund. He kept stressing on the phone that I should consider the refund option! WTF!

Rather than deal with the issue and get it investigated they are just trying to loose you as a customer. That awful and the first time I have had bad customer care..

They said there is no where higher to go and he kept stressing that you only get 24 hours out of the case. I said listening time not standby time but he is standing by it that I am lucky my case last 2 days in my bag with zero use as they should only last 24 hours! They are just not listening. And this is the highest tech support apparently!

Come on Apple - sort it out!!

Since resetting the AirPods and re-pairing I've had stellar battery from the case. It hasn't been on charge for 4 days and still has 30% left (that's with use of the AirPods in between).

What exactly did you do? First unpair? Then 15 sec. on the Button? Then re-pair?

Just opened the lid (with the AirPods inside), held the button on the back for 15 seconds (until the light in he case flashed amber) then released it. Closed the lid, reopened and up popped the connect card again on my phone. Connected normally and that was it.

I followed this:

"Still can't set up your AirPods? Press and hold the setup button for at least 15 seconds, until you see the status light flash amber a few times and then flash white"

That's an interesting report and solution. Thanks for the follow-up.

Mine drop 30% in 6 hours with no usage :-(
Have tried resetting and also running AirPods as well as case to zero before giving them an all night charge... with no joy :-(
Apple don't seem interested- spoke to apple care Europe and she basically said I need to take them into a store (closest Apple Store is 1.5 hours away!)
Not impressed.
