Apple tells you that even if you have it on your phone you still have to verify it with your watch in the instruction manual they put online yesterday. So far I've been able to use starbucks app, equinox app and nyt app on my Apple Watch. All wonderful experiences. I'm actually blown away a bit.

Curious, I was able to add credit cards but how do you add a Starbucks card if it's already in passbook on the phone? Do I need the actual card, haven't used it in at least a year. Thanks.

First impressions: maybe I'll finally lose that weight I've been meaning to. I've been chasing those 3 rings all day.

I'm really curious how the watch affects your phone battery; i.e., how much all that syncing and data sharing drags your phone battery down. I know it's only day one, but does anyone notice your phone battery dropping significantly since you synced up the watch?

I would be curious to know this as well. I have not ordered one yet, but I can tell you that my Martian Notifier seems to drain the phone battery a little bit faster than my Pebble.

First seven hours with my 42/SS/Link

A long time tech guy, I expected about as many bugs as it came with. I've bought lots of first gen Apple products and this is no better or no worse. If Apple focuses they'll get them sorted out after a few updates.

Build quality is decent, but if I don't seem impressed like many are, it's because my ultra high end Swiss watches are truly stunning. I'm not expecting the same from Apple, this watch only cost $999.00 which is less than 1% of one of my others.

Going forward I'm interested in seeing if there's a compelling reason to wear this watch. While I receive a large number of notifications throughout my day, I have a very well planned protocol in place. Handling my notifications without them being intrusive is something I've got down nicely. Having them on my wrist would actually be intrusive and irritating.

I'm going to enjoy the watch for what it is, see how things play out, and if it turns out to be useful I'll keep it. If not I'll have satisfied my curiosity.

Authorized one of mine but the other asked the dumbest questions. "What branch did you open your account at?" "When was the last time you logged in to the online website?" "Sorry if you can't answer those I can't authorize your card."

Garbage.

Do you possibly mean how do you add a Starbucks gift card? If so I think you need to load it through the app on the phone.

Force touch.

Thanks! It seems like all the stuff I'm not finding on the watch are available through force touch

I feel like it did, but I was actively on my phone checking out apps and looking up info on the watch so I can't tell if it was the watch or me. I suspect it will be hard to know unless you're not on your phone at all for awhile with notifications still coming through on the watch.

Yeah, I don't really like the way that force touch controls are not obvious. There's no way to know if there is a force touch control present or what it will do without trying, so you sort of have to force touch everything. For example, did you know you can force touch the 3D emoji to change their colors?

I've had mine for 24 hours and love it.

The build quality and overall packaging definitely have a premium feel especially given the sports relatively low price.

Rode my bike to the store and setup the workout app which should me my calories burned etc. when I was on my bike I used the music glance to control my spotify which was great and worked faultlessly.

The activity rings work well to encourage you to be more active.

When I cooked dinner I could check incoming notifications as well as use Siri to set a timer hands free.

I work as an English teacher in japan and timing is critical in my class, to make sure students are always active. As such having the "modular" face setup as my "work" face with multiple timers and a stopwatch on one screen is great. Often I assign students 5, 10 and 15 minute activities, so this is very useful.

Of course when work is over, I'll be able to switch to a less busy face. Love this idea.

Yahoo weather is beautiful on the watch. It takes 5 seconds to dL basic info and a further 10 for more info. It seems like once this is loaded for the day though, it loads much faster.

I had one issue with setting the world clock on the apple watch. My parents live in the UK so it's nice to know the time there. To add London time I had to go into the clock app on the iPhone and add it there, not through the apple watch app on the iPhone or the watch itself.

Looking forward to trying a to-do style app, but things is a little expensive for me.

For anyone who is on the fence, I'd encourage them to get the sport model if they can afford it. Using it in the store didn't really do it justice. The way it will integrate with my daily life is what I'm really excited for and that is difficult to show in store.

yes, I definitely did. I'm hoping that on a regular day, when I'm not playing with the watch every 5 seconds, I won't notice such a big drain on the iphone...

--Yes, the OS is slow. A lot of Apps take so long processing that the watch face goes back to sleep in the interim.

I'm not having this issue. MLB, Pandora, etc opened more quickly than I expected.

Now as for Amazon, it seems to only be voice controlled? That seems odd but I guess you really can't have a keyboard on the watch and who what's to go back to a T9 to type? Lol

So happy!

Love it!

  • Felt natural on my wrist right from the start
  • 38 mm is the perfect size for me
  • No problems or errors entering the passcode or selecting apps, I haven't feel like my fingers were too big or the icons too small
  • Activity rings have encouraged me to move more today, we'll see if that sticks!
  • Love the milanese strap, very comfortable and I love the look on my wrist
  • Battery so far seems good, though drained the iPhone battery today and I'm hoping that's not going to be normal
  • Display is so bright and colorful, looks so clean
  • Setup and customization has made sense and hasn't been difficult, I haven't felt a steep learning curve at all
  • So glad I got it!!!

I didn't know that! Maybe someone can start a thread about force touch discoveries.

Just tried changing the colors and the smiley face is only in yellow and red, and the heart has more colors. And discovered there are many hand motions but I had to swipe in a different way to see them all.

Here's my thoughts after pending the last 5 hours learning my new device. I really like it. The 38 is perfect size for me - female. Set up was easy but had to review the Watch videos for few pointers. 2 things that I am not pleased with (or I may be doing something wrong) Why can you only have one play list synced at a time even though the watch can hold up to 2g of music? I love my LG tones Bluetooth headset, but can't seem to find a way to switch easily between the watch and my phone with the headset. I use my phone and headset everyday but was so looking forward to being able to just use watch and headset at the gym. Any suggestions appreciated - even a new BT is not out of the question

I am repeating hearsay and haven't tried it myself, but I think you need to pair the LG with the watch AND use force touch on the watch music playback app to switch it to output from the watch for the LG. Let me know if this ends up making sense, I ended up confused with the BT stuff earlier and never revisited it.

And sadly I think it's just 1gb. We're all going to have to do some curating. :)

Does any one feel like interface feels inconsistent? I move back and forth from touch to digital crown. It would be nice to do most with the crown. On the home screen , I personally feel like the digital crown should parse through all the apps and then a press should enter the app.

Also doesn't it feel liked the real home screen isn't the app screen but rather the watch face? Why does it take three presses to get back to it? Just some thoughts.

The watch is plain awesome. Much better than I expected.

- Sports band feels super comfortable, easy to forget I'm wearing a watch at all
- Some apps do crash, but that'll get fixed quickly
- Loading times are a non-issue for me. Everything loads fairly quickly. I was worried after reading the reviews, but it's totally fine.
- Packaging is indeed huge and heavy. What am I doing with this surprisingly heavy case? Wasn't Apple all about reducing packaging material to keep weight and box sizes down? To cram more goods onto a plane and save the environment?
- Battery on the 38mm seems a bit limited. Probably the best reason to go with a 42mm would be increased battery capacity.
- Phone calls on the wrist are fantastic. Never thought I'd use that, but I love it now.
- Driving a car using the watch navigation is great! It buzzes me well before each turn.
- I can now put my phone somewhere on the table and don't need to carry it around as much to check messages, ask Siri etc.
- Controlling my Apple TV works well and with barely any lag

Overall I'm very impressed that Apple nailed this on the first attempt!

Yes to all of this. Weird implementation of a lot of formerly familiar interface paradigms. The steeper learning curve I mentioned earlier. And then the bigger picture of "do I do it on the specific watch app, the watch settings, the watch app *on my phone*, some other app on my phone (e.g, only way to push hue lighting scenes to the watch is through the hue app on your phone), or the settings on my phone (e.g. Global watch), or is it simply a hidden force touch thing?". Streamlining/editing may be needed.

My Observations

Struggles or Still Getting Used To:
- Screen turns off way too quick and locks when screen turns off. I need to search deeper to see if there are options to configure this to liking.
- Related to the above, I have to put my passcode in a LOT to do anything, including siri from wake. I'll likely figure this out with time though.
- Notifications seem spotty, more off than than not. It may be some setting, but I have only received like 10% of my texts to the watch. Any insights would be helpful.

What I Love:
- The stainless steel and milanese combo feels great!
- Battery life is great!
- Love all the customizations to watch faces!
- Siri dictation seems more accurate than my 6+.
- Taptic is awesome.
- Digging the force touch.
- The first party apps are great.
- Smoother and quicker interface than anticipated.

My first impressions/experiences-

Set up was a breeze, love the MagSafe charger. Interested to see if the reports are true about being able to use other QI charging pads.

I absolutely love the camera remote fictions, used it as more of a 007 spy playing at work but I see how it could be really useful in actual use.

All in all I'm thrilled to have it, glad I got the sport because I can already see improvements they need to make. Starting on a thinner watch body and a slight curve so it hugs your wrist better. Nothing unbearable but still changes I can see them making
