Easy win for Apple here - disable Apple Card payments on iPhone pre-order day, those customers switch to another card and Apple doesn't have to pay the 3% cash back.
I find it hard to believe a company with hundred billion dollars in cash is worried about 3% cash back from the people who don't default.

I had problems with my Apple Card. I just kept trying until it went through. And it did. Took me about 20 minutes though.

This happens too much and its so annoying.

And to have issues with another apple product is just not on.

I remember going through this during 12 Pro Times and I was so annoyed.

Plus they don't care about the 3%. They WANT people to use the credit card...they make money when customers don't pay off the phone on time and are charged 10-20% interest.

Day 1 iPhone ordering experience is just like M. Night Shyamalan movies or Weezer albums. Every one is worse than the preceding one.

If they want me to the use the card then maybe the card should work. They better be making calls today to switch people to AC on existing orders without messing up ship dates.

I'm surprised mine worked since I only applied for the card yesterday

Me too (but Tuesday). Maybe that's why we got through OK. Because back on Tuesday, my card's available credit dropped 1599 and the pre pre order email said I had been "authorized." (no charge though for the phone yet, just the tax and the available credit drop)

This happened to me too. Tried 3-4 times and finally just used my normal card. Missed out on $6 cash back, but at least my order is in for 9/24. I’ve already updated the payment for the loan with citizens one to my Apple Card. Once I get my phone I may take the issue up with Apple and see if they can just give me some App Store credit or something similar, or I may just chalk it up and move on. Way more important things going on in the world. 🙏🏻

Not a great line of thinking take 6-7 bucks times how many orders they "saved" that money.

No way in hell one of the richest companies in the world should get a pass because there are things going on in the world.

Make it right Apple.

I got a similar error but I see it in my Orders page that it is processing. We will see, I don’t want to double/triple/x times over buy. I’ll just wait to see if it errors out or not.

Damn. I guess I should feel BLESSED lol because I had no issue with the pre-pre-order the other day and no issue with the pre-order today. All on Apple Card monthly installments (not iUP).

I have been going back and forth with Apple for almost 4 hours now, and the best they can do is tell me "try back in a couple hours". Ship dates are now slipping into late October. What's the point in having an Apple Card if I can't purchase Apple products from Apple....

Not disagreeing with you at all. There’s a reason why I said I ultimately used my “normal card” and that doesn’t happen to be my “Apple Card;” they’re not ready for prime time. I still consider the Apple Card to be a novelty. Do I want my $6? Yes. Will I lose sleep over $6? Nope.

Why an I not surprised. Is it Goldman Sachs, or an intermediary glitch? The wife has 'the card', and has been disappointed with it. It has been refused at random points for no apparent reason. *shrug* And the 'sharing' part is rather onerous...

Happened to me. Delivery date slipped to October while I was trying to get this to work. Eventually switched to a different card and it went right though. Very frustrating though since I had gone through all the pre-approval steps and it should have just taken a couple minutes once the Apple Store let me in. After I received my notification for the new loan, I logged in and switched my monthly payment account back to my Apple Card. Hopefully they will have their issues all figured out by the time my next payment is due.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro pre-orders started today, and while many customers have successfully placed their pre-orders, some have experienced issues when attempting to complete their purchase with an Apple Card or Apple Pay.

Some customers have turned to Twitter to express their frustration with the pre-ordering process, sharing screenshots of errors that they received, such as "there was a problem with the card details you entered" or "something went wrong." Apple's system status page does not yet reflect any widespread issues with the Apple Card or Apple Pay, but it's clear that quite a few customers have been impacted by the issues this morning.

In the U.S. and the U.K., some affected customers are trying to place their pre-order through the iPhone Upgrade Program, but this is not always the case.

There isn't a clear-cut solution to the issues for now beyond switching to a different payment method, but for Apple Card holders, this could mean missing out on 3% Daily Cash. The pre-ordering issues have also resulted in some customers missing out on securing their preferred iPhone 13 configuration for launch day delivery on September 24, as delivery estimates have already started slipping into October for some models.
