I had to use my AMEX after 2 attempts entering my Apple Card that didn't work. And when I used the AMEX the app said there was an issue and completely ditched that pre-order. I kept trying for almost an hour and nothing worked. When I was ready to accept that I'd keep the 12 Pro, I checked my email and there was one from Apple with order number and all. So the app said it failed but it went through. I already see the pending charge on my AMEX and Citizens One created a new loan already for this iUP. Worst experience I've had ordering from Apple in a long time, maybe ever.

Not some users but all users did at least in the first minutes, the page launched few minutes later than announced then i wouldn't accept cards then the orders disappeared from shopping history etc etc

It worked for me but I did the preorder-preorder when it was initially open. All I did today was press a button.

I tried from both the app and the website, for two family members this morning. All failed. Was unable to change the payment method via the website (annoying), so had to key in another card via the app on two different phones. Now one of the two phones will be delayed several weeks. What a fail, seriously. LOL

had the same problem here today too... launch day delivery everything loaded but then Apple Card payment method failed. Lost the launch day delivery and now not sure I want to pay now for the late October or just wait a month before paying.

I had this issue, Did the pre-order but then it said I had one more step, it wouldn't accept apple card, had to use Amex and it went straight through... the other issue is it wouldn't allow saved credit cards, you had to manually type in the card number details.

I received a similar reply when I tried to contact Goldman Sachs, but it also said that they were experiencing longer than expected wait times and I would receive a response within 60 minutes.

The pre-order process this year was a total disaster…by far the worst it’s been in the last 5 years. I managed to finish my order after nearly 3 hrs of trying and a half dozen different error messages.

I don’t mind needing to use a different card for the payment today, losing out on 3% for one payment won’t kill me. But the fact that it delayed me so much that shipment slipped up to 3 weeks for me is kind of angering. Hope they can speed that batch up.

Happened to me too multiple times. Ended up switching to another card which work immediately. I’m pretty sure you can edit your card for the IUP through Citizen’s One later.

The most annoying part of this preordering was my pre-order-setup thing they did didn't work on the actual order and it disappeared from my account so I had to go through the whole checkout process manually at which point it complained a bunch of my details were wrong.. long story short I'll get my phone in a month haha
Same here. That stupid pre order that I set up two days ago was no longer on my account when I went to order it. What a waste of time.

guess I was one of the lucky ones ... worked for me fine at 8:02 EST ... but looking at online forums a ton of people had the issue ... wonder why its only happening for some.
Apple uses a ton of different servers, I'd suspect if some had no problems and others did, that something happened in the communication between Apple's store servers and their card processor connection on some of the locations.

I had this issue, ended up entering my Discover card for the loan instead of Apple Card, as it wouldn't let me use their card at all.

I got screwed, force to get from verizon instead. Unfortunately had to pay off my phone through apple.

I had the very same problem. Contacted Goldman. After three hours they indicated they had no issues and my card was fine. Lousy service.

On my first attempt, I was repeatedly getting errors when using the Apple Card.
Quite the app and tried again with the same thing on the second attempt. However, while I was trying on the second attempt, I got an email saying we’re processing your order.

Similar Apple Card-related problems. I completed the "pre-order" process on Wednesday (with Apple Card as the payment method), but when I tried to complete the order this morning, the site said my bag was empty. After 20 minutes of refreshing in hopes that the pre-order would show up, I decided to start over. When I did, and selected Apple Card as the payment method, I got repeated "bad gateway" and "something went wrong" error messages whenever I tried to complete the transaction. Finally, after several attempts to go back and re-finalize the transaction, it went through. Then, about 40 minutes after the sales began (and just a few minutes after completing my new transaction), the pre-order finally showed up properly and wanted to be completed. I'm now ignoring it for obvious reasons, and working with Apple Card to get the original authorizing amount dropped from my card (and the actual charge for the taxes removed). Not the smoothest launch ever...

Used the Apple Store app to get preapproved for the Apple Upgrade plan, all seemed well when I did that 3 days ago. I used the app to get on at 5am, and thought like in past years it would be a click of a button.

Nope, big nope. Apple Card "had a problem" and I fiddled around with generating a new Apple Card number, that didn't help things. Ended up having to use my Costco Visa, so 1% back on each payment vs. 3%. Even with time lost, still got a 9/24 delivery, whew! I don't dare try to change my payment method, at least not until my order arrives.

This happened to me as well, had to use my debit card, which I did not want to do. I tried to have Apple change the payment after the fact, but the rep couldn’t edit my order for some unknown reason.

I like many others ran into this issue and missed out on the delivery window.

what’s most frustrating is I’m on the iPhone upgrade program and prefilled everything so it should have been a one click completion at 5am. My iPhone 12 Pro Max is on my Apple Card with the upgrade program. When I tried to complete the process this morning it kept giving me a error with my Apple Card asking me to put in a valid card number. I was thinking “that can’t be right” it’s Apple and I have a Apple credit card this should just work. So I kept trying thinking if Apple Card wasn’t working no way any other card was going to.

anywho while not the end of the world, it’s annoying. I lost out on 9/24 delivery I’m somewhere second week of October and ended up paying with my trusty American Express card and worked immediately.

gotta say I’m seeing less and less reasons to use the Apple Card..

The obvious "make-good" here is to open up some of the walk-in stock that Apple keeps on hand for retail locations to Apple Card/IUP users like us. I'm not holding my breath for that exactly, but it would make a lot of sense.

Hey guys! This definitely happened to me. Here’s a quick tip. When you get your “Loan Approved” email from Citizens One, login and add the new loan to your account and change your payment method back to your Apple Card. Love you all and happy iPhone day! ♥️😊

Finally worked for me after about 5 hours with my Apple Card. Luckily my local store had them in stock for launch day since shipping times slipped to October.
