Ordered at 8:01am est, I lucked out I had zero issues with using my Apple Card to pre order my phone.

I couldn't use my Apple Card for the initial IUP payment, same failures as reported. I switched to a different card and it worked fine. Wasted 20 min trying though.

As for the rest of the IUP payments, I discovered with previous iPhone loans that the Citizens One web site allows the payment to be updated. For the new loan that operation isn't available yet but as soon as it is, I'll make sure the Apple Card is used for those.

I had many friends unable to order for a while who were on IUP. I did ACMI and had no issues right at store opening. This year my car was pre authorized during preorder setup on Tuesday, don’t remember that from last year but maybe that helped matters for me.

Tried about 5 or more times and eventually CitizenOne said they declined me and I would get a letter explaining why. I was already preapproved and had it picked out. I switched to a debit card to lock it in...so couldn't use my AppleCard...

I am on the iUp as well, did the preapproval as soon as I saw it, still failed to take my AppleCard.

guess I was one of the lucky ones ... worked for me fine at 8:02 EST ... but looking at online forums a ton of people had the issue ... wonder why its only happening for some.
Same here. I (luckily) got in a 8:01 EDT, had the pre-order thing show up, and paid with the Apple Card.

Some years it has been 10-20 minutes before I've gotten in so I guess I was fortunate this year. And I got the 1TB.

Yeah, it's been happening to me all morning for my preorder (after my wife's went through just fine on the same Apple Card). I've tried many times in the app and once or twice in a browser on my Mac. After waiting over an hour for Apple Card support chat, they said "the transactions are actually not even making it to the Apple Card. They are not even in our system. Apple was having a processing error with the Apple Card, you may need to use a different card unless they are able to fix the issue." I'm not going to use another card, so we'll see how long it takes to get fixed, but hopefully that's helpful to someone...

I used Apple Card on the pre pre order, and it went through and charged me the tax back on Tuesday. I don't have a charge for the actual phone yet, but my available balance has dropped $1600.

I see the card balance too at 1808.38 as a pending charge. I didn't see the tax charge until today though which is odd. Maybe in a few years they'll get this working. It has only been since 2007 that they've had ordering issues every release, so it isn't as if they've had much time to get it working properly. 😂😂😂

Thankfully, I did not have a problem with my Apple Card. But I did have a problem with Safari. I had to clear my cookies, and it still never loaded. I tried the Apple Store app and Safari. Safari and Chrome were stuckstore, stuck on “Almost there…”, and Safari got there last. The app wins. Loaded the store at 5:01a PDT. Received a confirmation email time stamped 5:06a.

Kind of sad Apple still can’t figure things out.

I was able to purchase one device using Apple Card, however, the two Apple Upgrade (Citizens) devices kept failing telling me I will get an email from Citizens in 24hrs why my upgrade could not be completed, granted this is after pre-approval. In the end I ended up buying the two devices on Apple Card Payments but will not be able to leverage the Apple Upgrade Program and loan forgiveness.

Same for me, though using my ref Cc and not an Apple Card. Had everything pre-registered the day before, moving from a 12 Pro via iUP. ~6:05ish am (MT), I was tapping to complete transaction and saw a few of the OP error messages. By about the 5th attempt, it went through. Now my order is Processing for a 9/24 delivery date. Was a little bumpier than LY. But still, they make it about as easy as is possible to Hoover up my monies. THAT is their secret sauce.

This happened to me. Best part was this is the response from Apple support.

Finally got through to Apple Card/Goldman phone support and they said there was no record of a failed/declined transaction. They didn’t confirm but certainly sounded like this has been all they’ve been dealing with all morning.
And this is the wealthiest tech company on the planet…

I had completed the pre-approval process earlier in the week, but it barfed on me this morning so I'll just wait for the phones to arrive in the store and see which color I like and order my Pro Max then as I had planned to order the Blue model, but since I have to wait, I want to see them all in person.

At first I was told Citizens would email me in 24 hours like you.

But now I'm either getting beyond that or not getting that far because my Apple Card authorization is being rejected instead.

I choose to consider any new failure message as progress.

I had this problem! Got started finalizing my order just a few minutes late and simply could not get the order to work with the Apple Card. On the second try with another card it went right thru.

Folks, I just got finished talking to an Apple Senior Advisor. They assured me this is not a problem at all because they have not received any reports of an issue with using the Apple Card for iPhone pre-orders. They assured me that if this was a problem, they would know about it before any customer would, because Apple literally talks to millions of customers a minute. So, if you’re experiencing an issue, you will need to restart your device. If the issue persists, you will need to erase and reinstall the AppleCard OS only. To do this, you need to plug your Apple Card only (not your device) into iTunes and complete a Restore. Be sure to set-up the Apple Card as new - do not restore from a backup. If the issue persists, they will need to initiate an RTA to Engineering. Because this is a known issue, Engineering will need Apple Card logs. Because you cannot access those, Apple’s official position on the matter is that no further support will be provided until you provide the logs you cannot access.

But Cook claims and states regularly that Apple provides industry leading customer service and everything they do is to make the lives of its users easier. How can this be?

Yeah I had an issue with my Apple Card as well. Kept telling me that there’s an issue with my Apple Card. It finally went through but then citizens one denied me and said they’ll send me an email. I think this is either a glitch on their part or because my credit is locked. Either way I can’t even order it because all nearby stores are now showing unavailable and since my billing address is a PO Box with AT&T I can’t get it delivered.

Amazing after 10 years Apple still can’t figure it out

Apple Card worked for me, not for my wife (different Apple Cards). I set hers up with another card, and will change the payment options after the dust settles.

Her iPhone 12 Pro MAX had a cracked back, so I didn’t want to get caught in the backlog waiting.

It still won’t take my card info and now it pushed my delivery date to Oct 25. 😬

Huh?

Anyway, it took 3 tries for my Apple Card to work. Got the same error. But it went through.

I thought I had this too until I clicked on the "For Me" tab and my pre-order was waiting there.

What happened with me is, I had it on the for me tab and I went through with it and during trying to pay it said my session timed out and boom the pre-setup was gone.

At that point I then had to go through the normal checkout process and it kept saying my address was wrong even though it's the same one I always use.. anyway turned out they put my last name into the first name box..

All-in-all quite a frustrating problem as their pre-setup said I was all good to go but in reality it didn't confirm basic things like my address was correct.

I'm glad they're trying new things but boy was it frustrating to have that delivery date of September 24th showing all through the checkout process (even when paying with Apple Pay on the payment dialog) only for it to jump to late October once I got my confirmation email.
