I had the same issue, tried a hundred times with different combinations of billing and shipping address to see if that was why it was failing. finally I got in touch with the Apple support iMessage thing (which was broken all morning). The message representative told me to just use my regular card and Apple would "make it right" and all I had to do was call the Apple billing department to fix it. The Apple billing department has no idea what's going on and has no way to fix it except for me paying off my entire phone today.

I tried to go into my CitizenOne account and change the payment method but it won't let me. I called CitizenOne and waited on hold for an hour they don't know what's up. They said "maybe try again later".

So far, no way to do this with an Apple Card except to cancel and re-order in which case I get my phone late...

EDIT I tried to CitizenOne account again and this time it worked. I had to login, "add a new loan" using my new iPhone loan, and change the payment card. So now I'm good I guess except for that $6.50 premium I paid on the first payment and taxes due to Apple's screw up!

There needs to be some sort of compensation for the amount of time wasted… Especially when customers adopt their products (IUP and Apple Card) for a “seamless” experience.
And even though it’s a first world problem to not get a phone on launch day had everything gone smoothly people would have. Now it’s a month out when some people will show up at a store day of and walk out with a phone.

IUP is so fubar this year.
Now the the Apple Pay is fixed the shipping has slipped to late October. Yet they still want to charge me for the 12 month enough though by the time I get the phone the I will have payed the 12th month

Wow, I had no problems at all. I did the pre-pre-order on Wednesday and the only thing that went wrong for me was that the calendar reminder didn't break through my overnight Do Not Disturb.

I thought my phone would wake me at 4:45 to be ready to place the order, only to wake up at my regular 5:30 alarm and go "OH CRAP!" But I was pleasantly surprised to see that the delivery date is still next Friday. I almost always end up pushed back.

I hope Apple comes up with some way to make those affected whole.

I have one tiny store near by me that even pre covid was hell at launch due to its size. Debating if going into the covid crockpot is worth it sigh.

hahahah. Sorry to hear that. Knowing apple they probably set up a nice organized system for pick up? And I'm not being sarcastic LOL.

Apple System's page says the issue is resolved, yet I still can't order... Very frustrating.

I tried Apple Chat: but they're trying to tell me you can't use the Apple Card with the iPhone Upgrade program...

I'm quickly losing faith in this company......

3% x €1000+ x millions of preorders

What a shame this “error” has saved Apple Card tens of millions of dollars. Oh well…

Exactly right! Time and money wasted, both. 100% agree.
Could not agree with y'all more. I received a small token of compensation when I spoke directly to an Apple support representative (not sure what it is yet, it's being emailed to me). A lot of it had to do with me being polite, considerate of her time, and respectful of her as a human being. Sometimes, people have a tendency to go straight into torch mode when calling into customer support. Those folks on the other end of the line are humans too. While I am fuming mad at Apple as an entity, I am still appreciative of the individuals who are trying to help me when I call into them. I think most of my friends here on the MacRumors forums are savvy, in the know types of people who would not lower themselves to the level of being troll-like on the phone.

My Apple Pay (not Apple Card) order initially said it didn't work, with no charge on my credit card, but I get a confirmation email. What does that mean? Should I retry it?
you'll get a notification if your cards decline and will give you 24-24 hours to update card before order is cancelled

I ordered right at 8:03am EST (5:03am PST) when the store went live for me. I had all the details pre-done the day before so it took literally 15 seconds to place the order. I had zero problems. Some of my accessories already shipped.

I had this same issue. Had to end up using a different card. My order was showing on hold till about 2PM, but now it has updated and shows I am still supposed to receive my phone on the 24th.

I called Apple with the issue. The first person had never heard of the Apple IPhone upgrade program and then the supervisor told me to call Goldman Sacs.

Add me to the list of people who tried to unsuccessfully check out at 5AM using their Apple Card. After 4 failures I gave up and used my Chase Visa.

It's so stupid that even if it DID work, you still had to to manually go into Wallet, view card info, copy the credit card number, return back to Apple Store, paste it, enter the expiration date and CVV. What kind of integration is that?

Not to worry. Tim Cook has said there are great updates to Apple Card in the pipeline. You’ll be amazed what you can do with the Apple Card Pro. It is the most pro Apple Card that Apple has ever made - it will completely change how you use Apple Card. After all, everything single thing Apple does is for the customer.

Same here. I'm on the Apple Upgrade Program and my apple card was rejected, twice, until finally used another card.
Should also add that I was able to update the Citizens One Loan later, but of course my payment at pre-order is still not on the apple card.

A lot of the stores seem to still have launch day pickups! I ended up just doing that instead since shipping times slipped so far!

Same. I placed my iUP order at 5:50am pacific and it was showing October 10th for the ship date (even though others were still seeing Sep 24) so I switched to in-store pickup and got a release day appointment to pick mine up. There’s an Apple store very close to me so it’s not much of an inconvenience.

I'm guessing you can still go in and change the payment method on the Citizen's One loan for the iPhone upgrade program to the Apple Card after the fact. Just not sure if that would still garner the 3% on every monthly payment.
That's what I'm going to do. I'm not sure that loan payments ever garnered the 3% as it is a non- Apple Pay charge to the card by a third party. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know!

Tried pre-ordering on AT&T's website and kept receiving the error "We are unable to verify you your payment info" when using my Apple Card at checkout. I tried a couple times with no success. I then tried again using a different card, but kept receiving the same error. I finally gave up. Anyone else having the same problem when trying to pre-order on AT&T's website? I tried calling support, but wait times are just too long... So I've just given up for now.

had this issue at 5:10am this morning, tried for 10 mins and finally accepted..
I got the error and tried again. Ended up getting two confirmation emails and two charges for $1,100+ on my credit card. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I got billed twice and ended up getting two confirmation emails.
