That's what I'm going to do. I'm not sure that loan payments ever garnered the 3% as it is a non- Apple Pay charge to the card by a third party. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know!
This is what I ended up doing also, although Citizens One still doesn't show the new loan. May not until I actually get the phone. Not that worried about it now. Really had me pissed off at 8 EDT this morning. I chose to do an in store pickup, though because it said I could have it next Friday instead of shipping being as late as mid October.

I can confirm that even loading the Apple Card into the Citizens website will garner the 3%. Ive had the Apple Card for 2 years and have always had the iUP payments through the Apple Card. And always shows 3%.

You should get an email confirming that your loan has been approved. It will have the loan number and you can add it manually.

I had this same problem! So I changed cards so I could finish the order process. Later I’ll just have to switch the card back on the Citizen’s One site. Not very Apple, but also very much a ‘first world problem’.

I concur with @jimmysalg. I have been getting a 3% instant cash back every time Citizens charges a payment to my Apple Card.

Hey guys and gals I have a question for anyone who has an Apple Card. So I applied and was approved for the Goldman Sachs Apple Card. I bailed on buying an iPhone 13 Pro Max. Will I receive a physical Apple Card in the mail or is a purchase required to activate the account?

No purchase required. As a matter of fact the card should already be active and ready to use on your phone.

because the problem sounds like it’s with the iPhone upgrade program, maybe Citizen One is the culprit?
Well there seems to be other posts where people who spoke to apple where told that both Goldman Sacks and Citizen One where having issues! As a matter of fact there where people who reported not being able to use the Apple Card without the iUP program!

Still stuck in Apple Card limbo here. Confirmed with Apple many times today that iPhone Upgrade Program is failing to authenticate preorders using Apple Card. And if you're pre-approved, there's not way to change the payment method. so... just hitting the button over and over and over and over.

Seems to me like the people getting the shaft here are precisely the customers Apple should most not want to lose.

Hey thanks for the info. I set up my Apple Card on my iPad since I don’t own an iPhone and ordered the Titanium Card. It should arrive in the next 5-7 days.

I ordered right at 8:03am EST (5:03am PST) when the store went live for me. I had all the details pre-done the day before so it took literally 15 seconds to place the order. I had zero problems. Some of my accessories already shipped.
I mean, good for you, but your experience seems to be in the minority. Most of us had to bang our heads against the wall trying to figure out what was happening without the benefit of knowing that it was a systemic failure. I woke up at 5:45 am here in Denver, and finally gave up and used a different card after about 15 minutes of attempting my Apple one to no avail. Thankfully I was able to pull the transaction off in time to maintain a 9/24 delivery, but I was on the verge of giving up.

How? I didn’t even have the option… :(
If you live in the US you can buy Apple Gift Cards that you load into the iTunes/AppStore/Apple Store account and they can be used for everything Apple.
At Target you get 5% on everything, if you have their RedCard CC, even Gift Cards.
At the checkout to the preorder there was a note to use the Credit/Debit button to use Apple Account Balance, which I did.
In the next step I just selected my account and was done.
Hope that helps.😎

Failed for me this AM for 45 minutes, went to sleep cuz I figured it was just broken. Woke up a couple hours later and tried my non-Apple card and it worked, of course my shipping date slipped by a month! UGH.

I switched the card on Citizen One, but doesn’t Apple collect the sales tax on the phone? If I’m not mistaken, only the monthly payment will be charged via Citizen one and sales tax collected from Apple which would be on the other card instead of Apple Card.

I just received this email from Apple which is extremely kind.

Every year I buy five phones for myself and my family. We all pre-qualified and ordered early but we all came away empty this year for the first time.

My Apple Card is working again, but Citizens One is still rejecting my "loan" despite 811 credit score and pre-qualifying. I called them and they said some information couldn't be automatically verified and they can do a manual review within 1-3 days.

Maybe I'll call Apple tomorrow and see if they can help.

This is so unbelievably infuriating!!!!!!! I initially saw a Sep 24th delivery date but after spending 5 minutes screwing around with Apple’s dumb Apple Card bug and entering another card, my delivery date had moved to October….

I am never waking up at 5AM to buy a damn iPhone ever again…

Sorry this happened I feel for you.

For what its worth, Apple usually beats their delivery estimates.

You're definitely doing better than me.

It was a cluster F**ck. I got up at 4:45 am and pressed the button at five as soon as I could. Then spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the phone on another card. Banished to OCTOBER!!!!! I did it right and all I got was wronged! So sad! (meanwhile, millions of people don't even have a roof over their heads. Perspective). But I still want the damned phone!!!

One more data point -

I had the same frustrations with Apple Card and IUP. After three or four failed attempts to get the Apple Store to accept the Apple Card as payment (ridiculous), I just paid for a phone outright. I’m lucky I was able to afford that. I won’t be using the IUP going forward because it sucked big time. Operations should have been able to anticipate the demand and it was a complete failure.

Oh, and I got the email from Apple apologizing for their snafu. They invited me to complete my order through the IUP. I went through some of the motions because I was curious about delivery date. Mid October! I will cancel the IUP and return current phone when the new one arrives.

Same issue here.. pre-order was in the system but kept getting denied with my Apple Card. Then I was told my application for a loan was denied (even though it was already pre-approved).. then I tried with my regular Visa card and it still failed. I gave up. I'll just keep using my iPhone 12.. I'm over it.
Wait another year! Today's Apple does not care. Bill Gates would have cared!
