I'm seeing a little more battery drain on my XR - however it's way faster and smoother than it ever was on 15.

Perhaps Apple is spinning up the faster processor cores more often to achieve this - which would explain the extra battery drain, if so.

Whatever the case, losing a little more battery life for the same level of performance that I last saw on it on 14 and 14 seems a reasonable compromise for a 4 year old phone. So count me happy in this regard.

If I have one criticism, it's that lockscreen editing seems less well thought out than it initially seemed from the WWDC demo.

At sundown (ditto sunrise), not being able to trigger another darker lockscreen image or to put a dark filter on, seems to be regressive compared to how things worked from 13-15.

My 14 pro drains more or less 15% overnight while on standby. This is with the always on display off.
i check the battery app and all it says is Find My app.

I've run into a couple bugs with Messages and Music. Sometimes in Messages, the app simply stops responding. I have to terminate and restart it.

Yesterday, Music stopped outputting audio any time it moved to the next track in my playlist. I could see that the song was playing by the progress indicator, but no sound was coming out.
That happens to me maybe 3 times a week. I am not sure what the source is and makes me double guess if my headphones are not functioning. I am also not aware of a fix, it just goes back to working when it wants to.

Well of course they’re still unaddressed, there’s only been one patch.

I don’t know about problems with the new phones but 16 sure is buggy on the “old” ones.

The patch schedule is pretty standard for Apple there’s just so many bugs this year.

I upgraded straight to iOS 16.0.2. As far as I can tell, no battery issues [or any issues at all] so far on my iPhone 13 Pro.

I also do not and have not had FB installed but I was experiencing battery drain. Someone suggested disabling the Home Screen search feature and strangely that seems to have fixed it (or at least helped significantly… it is still too early to say if it is truly fixed).

This might actually make sense since some people are having issues slow and/or non-function spotlight search. Maybe the problems are linked. I'll try disabling this. Thank you!

Yes rushing out 16.1 is the way to fix all the perceived problems.

Yeah we are having these problems because Apple put themselves on a schedule they can’t meet and that no one actually asked them to do.

At this point their secrecy is hurting them I think because they need to separate the OS from the hardware a little more. No reason to sync OS releases 1-1 with hardware releases. Keep the hardware exclusive features for point releases and just release the major OS updates when they’re ready.

Two freezes/restarts on home screen and sometimes bugs in whatsapp: camera not working or layout problems.

Battery drain is most likely related to the Facebook app that is doing who knows what in the background for hours upon hours. The background activity is happening on iOS 15 as well for that app, and they released an app update at the same time as iOS 16 was releasing.

My wife got 14pro. First week battery was dead by 5pm every day. She kept telling me she was in meetings all day and didn’t use her phone. I kept saying BS, because the battery app was showing lots of Facebook activity 😂. We turned off background refresh for Facebook and problem fixed, she went from wanting her XR back to loving the 14. May not be a the fix for everyone and maybe it’s and Apple issue or possible Facebook issue. But needs to be fixed

After putting on my Airpods Pro 2 I'm sometimes finding the screen of the phone won't turn on and stays black. Happened to me three times so far. Just hit 16.0.2 so hope that was in this list of fixes.

Mostly it has been fine for me with the exception of two things, one of which is a major problem and the other a minor annoyance:
  1. Battery life on my 13 Pro Max is absolutely horrible. On iOS 15 it was utterly amazing, but now on a busy day I need to charge it in the evenings. If I'm travelling, this is really problematic. In a year on iOS 15, I'd never used a power bank once. On iOS 16, quite often.
  2. Swiping to the camera on the Home Screen works about 40% of the time. Otherwise the phone seems to think I want to swipe up through my notifications. This happens even if I swipe above the notifications. They move slightly, the camera doesn't open.

My issue as well and I don't even have FB. I work in a sensitive environment where I can't have my phone out at all and I hate to see when I come off from work that my phone dropped 20% for no reason.

I can confirm my 98% battery health iPhone12 Pro Max has some serious drain after iOS16. Off charger at 8am-sh and it barely makes it to 7pm with only texting, and a couple of hours of web/socials.

Very interesting. I had 16 on my 13 ProMax a week before my 14 ProMax came. Neither has had any battery drain issues in my own experience obviously others are having varied experiences. I just looked now and my background refresh for Facebook is off, probably always has been ;-). So your suggestion should be tried by folks may fix this issue for some.

That's ridiculous, sorry you're experiencing that
