No more serious than people sitting on their car hoods and expecting them not to bend or dent. Seriously, would you put a banana in your pocket and do all that and then expect it not to be deformed?

Anytime you put an object in a small space (relative to the object's size) and then move that space around or bend in an unusual (for the object) way, then there is always a chance of an accident.

This is no different than putting a credit card (which is flexible) in a wallet, then getting pissed when it's bent in a curve after a month.

I have no sympathy.

Dude you are comparing Apple to banana o_O

It makes for a higher end product, a nice machined chunk of aluminum is much more desirable then molded plastic.

When I pay for my iPhone's I know its a nice piece of machined aluminum high end product! If its made by Apple i know my user experience and ease of use will be the best!

Your reply is very interesting, and please take a while to consider what you said, and what had happened to made you think that.

What you say above it totally fabricated, and an effect of being influenced, so please, just stop and think why you think this.

Why. Is Aluminium a more desirable product?

Think about it. As there is absolutely no reality to this statement.
It is a very abundant and very common metal on the earth.

Why do you think Aluminium is desirable?

What if Plastic was rare, Apple used Plastic, and other brands used Aluminium, would you then be on the mindset to place great value on Plastic and it's benefits over the cheap and soft Aluminium used by other Brands, where with Apple, it's plastic products, rare, could be solid colored, Strong, could bend and deform, even throw on the floor and only a tiny mark, no dent.

You would quite correctly say then how you loved the superior feeling and benefits of the Material Apple use.

Think about why you think what you do, as it's a created illusion.

Only an Idiot would put a $1000 electronic device made of aluminum and glass in your pocket and then sit on it. #commonsense

htc m8 is made of aluminum and glass. its durable. i never put cases on my phones. i dont baby my phones and my htc is still rocking along.

let me rephrase what i am sure you meant to say..."only idiots would choose aesthetics over functionality" aka apple. too bad a bunch of people are too blind to see.

i've had many iphones. i've stood in plenty of opening day lines. but im not a blind apple fan boy. i call it like it is. i dont make silly excuses like omg you're sitting wrong!

apple clearly died with steve jobs. stop being in denial.

If you can feel that much pressure on your leg you should clue in and realize that you're risking damage to your phone. I usually wear casual pants with big pockets so I can sit down without hurting my phone or my private parts, but I find it simply isn't comfortable so I usually take it out and set it on a desk/table/etc. near me. I don't like walking around with a lump in my pocket either so if there's anywhere else (jacket, backpack, camera bag, bike bag, etc.) to stash my phone I'll do that. In the car I stick it in a cup holder or the little console between the seats.

Will there ever be iPhone released without any issue? I think the last iPhone with no issue was iPhone 3GS (..or atleast i don't recall any issue with it)

Does anyone have any idea of Samsung note (any version) bending ?

Well I skipped iPhone 4 and got a 4S as my first iPhone, never had any issues with it, even after I dropped it down a flight of stairs without a case it survive with out damage and it landed face down (i gave my 4S to a friend, and they are still using it without any issues), I skipped iPhone 5 and upgraded to 5S and so far not had any issues with it, even after I dropped it twice without a case, still no dame apart form a tiny mark on a corner, the only issues I have at the moment is caused by iOS8. SO maybe the iPhone 6S will be better than the first lot.

Except your beloved HTC M8 has also have had reports of the phone bending too, its happened to alot of devices (HTC M7/M8, Xperia Z1) etc.

Ten points for you. Steve would be proud. This is the same excuse he used to justify Antenna Gate when denial failed.

For clarity, you're saying Apple is as crappy as HTC... Got It!

Two things are infinite, the universe and stupidity... and we do not know about the universe...

Just common sense not to seat on your cellphone.

These iPhones are bending in *front* pockets--you'd know that if you read even a fraction of this thread.

It's a common and accepted practice to place a smartphone in a front pocket. This is a design flaw plain and simple.

Saw my first Plus today. It's a DVD case. Why anyone would even want that in his pocket is beyond me.

Cue the : "BUT IT'S NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT....."

Actually that isn't what I am saying, but good try to deflect the situation though, this has happened every year starting with the 5, some reports of it bending, does not mean at all all devices are like that,

Apple's phones have the highest durability in the industry and the next closest reliable product is Samsung, which is 3x more likely to break.

and so is the 6/6 Plus according to durability tests and also SquareTrades own testing on the 6/ 6 plus naming it very durable phones. Also your beloved M8 has had reports of bending too.

pockets are irrelevant - theres lots of delicate expensive things you can break if you keep them in your pockets.

I wanted to ascertain the strength of other Apple products compared to this one.

Is this thread really turning into a debate about what to and what not to put in our pockets. It does appear that there is a weak point in these phones.

Are you really trying to set up Apples defense about how we are now putting our devices in our pockets wrong......

Very nice. Now, did you see HOW much pressure he had to exert in one place, to get that bend? His thumbs were going WHITE! Sitting in loose fitting pockets or reasonably tight trousers = not a problem, unless you envisage being kicked in the thigh by an angry horse :D

He should re-shoot it with a new one, using a strain gauge attached to the fulcrum.

Agree 100% and after he tests it, he should do the same on an iPhone 4. If it takes considerably more force to break, them we will have our answer. If it take 1/3 the force to bend I would say the iPhone 6 is a POS. Just my opinion.

Not just plus

I checked my 6 after seeing a video of a guy bending his 6 Plus - sure enough my 6 is bent too.

If you can imagine the phone in my pocket and sitting down, with my thigh pressing the centerline of the phone vertically, then twist the phone left or right and you've got a Diagonal warp. I have a DIAGONALLY *&$#!ing warp in my phone.

I have only sat down with the phone in my pocket twice, and already noticed a lot of pressure on the phone with the corners tilted left or right. I since took it out every time and then put it in my cargo pocket.

I also noticed that in the CARGO pocket, it had a lot of pressure and was further tilted because of gravity and movement of my leg. WTF!

I contacted Apple and they said they would reimburse the AppleCare fee IF and WHEN they determine it is manufacturer related. The Apple Chat support guy said he had never heard of this problem. Well, you're about to hear about it a lot! I'm extremely cautious with my phone and I'm sure tons of other people are having the same problem.

Absolutely Wrong! So off base!!!

My aluminum influence comes from the automotive field of building show cars long before my Apple aluminum products! We use machined billet aluminum for high end nice parts. This goes back to the early 90's for me!

Billet aluminum wheels being one of the most popular in custom cars, even forged aluminum!

It has nothing to do with the availability of aluminum, it has to do with how high tech CNC machines make the parts.

We use titanium more and more now as well!

A ton of company's have built their business around this influence!

Please think about that, or ask me where my influence comes from first, before you post something you know nothing about!!!
:cool::apple:

No, it is just one of the many reasons such large phones a a bad idea. Most pockets are to small to hold a phone that big. I've seen many people in the part forcing a large phone into a tiny pocket and trying to sit down.

It's even worse when you see a guy who can barely fit into skinny jeans attempting it.

we aren't even talking about bend tests. we are talking about simple every day use. if the iphone bends when put in certain pockets or if you sit a certain way then its clearly a flawed phone.

honestly ever since job's passing, has there been a product that has wowed you? the fact that there are multiple commercials mocking siri and yet apple cant even update siri speaks volumes to how badly apple lacks in talent and in the innovation department.

After seeing that video.....I dunno.

This seems to me that it might.....MIGHT.....be a serious design flaw and horrible quality assurance failure.

oh lord. and what about plastic phones that break?

you cant change physics. dont bend it.
