That's only if this is actually true. It's all hearsay. I'll believe it if someone reputable can duplicate it. No, using your hands to bend it is not the same thing. You can probably bend most phones if you force it enough.

Well seeing as Unbox Therapy bent their phone I would 100% state it's a real fact, but you carry on choosing to ignore Apple would make a design flawed phone if you wish.

Agreed, like those people that complain about house hold appliances failing when they do something with it because the manual says not to do it otherwise.

Were in the iPhone manual does it tell you not to sit down with a phone in your pocket?? :)

Been carrying my note 3 for almost a year in my front pocket exclusively, no bent phone....

I bought my Note 3 upon release, very close to one year later it's as perfect as day one. I dedicate a front pocket to my phone, have been for five years and many phones, not
one has bent.

Sadly I literally was going to order an iPhone 6 plus today when I saw the bent phone, then others at Starbucks and Twitter.

Pay a premium and burn my upgrade for a weak vulnerable first gen big iPhone????

No way... Two decades as an Apple customer and they create this deal breaker???

Hello Apple, anybody home....

So what? Who is to say that "Unbox Therapy" are being totally truthful, and who's to say they are a 100% honest, "de facto" source of all gadget knowledge, ever? Do we know them personally, to vouch for them? Nooooooo...

Seen the odd video of them around. Maybe if you live in California/L.A. or some other hipster-tech-centric state, they're "famous" - the rest of the (internet) world has likely never heard of them. If I saw The Guardian or BBC doing a bend test, THEN THAT would be legit and credible.

So what, so what, so what... and finally... so what? There's life outside California and outside YouTube channels - these people are unheard of, in the grand scheme of things. Ask a random member of the public:

"Have you heard of <insert X, Y or Z, niche tech YouTube channel name> ?" - expect sideways glance

"Have you heard of the BBC?" - expect "Of course! Who hasn't?"

Of course any metal phone can be bent with enough force being applied - did you see his hands shaking?

The question is whether it can be duplicated by normal use. The guy in the MacRumors story claimed to have bent it in his suit pants, which will be much harder to replicate.

That was forcing the bend with the hands. Absolutely not the same as putting the phone in your pocket.

First I need to say that after looking at my iPhone 6 plus it has a slight bend in it also. I'm restoring and shipping off to Verizon tomorrow for a refund

But what this is really about. I'm actually looking forward to see the new Samsung commercials on this :)

Are you kidding? Because you heard .001% of the people complain, it must be true?

It matters not one bit to Macrumors members who have an agenda or who haven't thought their argument through, properly, whether or not they sound silly, so long as they think they're right, that's all that counts... supposedly.

Did you even watch the video? Did you ignore the bit where he showed the phone as it was after being bent in his pocket? Go and watch the video.

Sigh, well seeing as Lou has his own professional gadget review and news website, he has an office and employ's people, he gets invited to all the big launches, I would go by what he states a hell of a lot more then Mac Rumors, then again I guess you are going to claim the Mac Rumors story is fake also then? Because it surely must be with your ideology?

And again, I guess you never watched his video in the first place....? When the BBC run the story on it's technology section I'll post it here, would you believe it then or claim they are making it up also?

I'd imagine using a rigid plastic case on an iPhone 6 or 6+, like those made by Tech21, would add substantial resistance to bending. These cases are also fairly minimal in overall design so as to not ruin the aesthetics of the iPhone. Tech21 products have a strong reputation. I have a Tech21 case on my 15" MBP to protect it and consider it the best case made for that purpose.

One of my buddies cracked his note 2s screen the second week he had it. Had it in his back pocket said he bent over to pick something up and he herd the screen crack. This can happen with any big phone. Keep them In your front pocket.

So what happened to 'premium build quality' ? Polycarb would've been better but of course its not as shiny and expensive looking.

Apple only makes this worse with those huge needless bezels. The 6+ is comically large for what it contains.

I can tell you certainly haven't use polycarb phones and iPhone 6+

I'm sure he's a nice bloke and very well respected, but the majority of planet earth won't have heard of him, regardless of how much YOUR lense upon the world is tinted with shades of YouTube channels - take the perspective of a random person in the street, WORLDWIDE... "Who? Unbox-whatty?"

I don't even care about the poxy "bend gate" hysteria, it's a hyped up crap storm that noone cares about outside a VERY VERY VERY small minority of clued-up phone geeks on forums like this. My point is CLEAR, to ears willing to listen - noone explains HOW he bent his phone INITIALLY, before he re-bent it on video. Noone knows... and to be frank, I care not a bit.

I'm off - this is a losing thread.

Here you go for those of you that haven't paid any attention to the beginning of the video, LISTEN to what he says!

We saw the video - no need to post it again. Still a load of speculation. Wake up man.

Well to be fair, pretty much every iPhone I've owned has had poor design issues with them, I had a white 3GS and had the "known Apple Issue" of the plastic cracking around the volume and power buttons, then I had an iPhone 4 which many people complained about the back glass, then we had anttenagate and the home button broke after about 18 months both of these were "known Apple Issues", then we had the iPhone 5 which had edges that chipped and scratched after being brushed on a table lightly and the power button would break after a few months, again both these were "known Apple Issues"

So yeah, that has been my experience with the iPhone, in fact they have been the most poorly made phones I've ever owned and I've owned a lot. So bending iPhones is no real surprise when it's Apple...

Would I buy another? Well if the iPhone 6 had OIS I would be tempted as the camera is very very good...

Sounds to me like you keep buying iPhones?

I haven't had any of the problems you speak of and I have had every model since the first iPhone.

Using your theory in my experience, would mean all iPhones are incredible because I've had none of the issues you have spoke of.

Oh, and of course all the millions of iPhones sold every year is just a bunch of bad engineered phones!

Wow.....

LMAO too funny...

Mean while iphone 6 users love their phone.

As highlighted in a few reports shared in the MacRumors forums, a small but growing number of iPhone 6 Plus owners have reportedly bent their phones after carrying the devices in their pockets just days after launch. In one instance, a new iPhone 6 Plus was bent during a day of dancing, dining, and driving to a wedding.

This potential for bending is of course not unique to the iPhone 6 Plus, with reports of bent iPhone 5 and 5s handsets surfacing in the past few years. As iPhones get thinner and larger, however, storage of the handset in a pocket becomes riskier. Unlike smaller phones that can slide out of the way, pressure points from sitting or bending now have greater potential to cause the longer iPhone to flex in a way that will damage the device.

To prevent bending, iPhone 6 Plus owners may want to remove their iPhones from their pockets before sitting or bending. If a pocket is unavoidable, then customers may want to place their device in a roomier pocket that allows the device to slide out the way. A rigid case may also provide protection from flexing or bending, as well damage from dropping the device.

Just so you know, currently his channel has 1,120,688 subscribers, and the video will be reposted again, and the video is posted as a FEATURE story on 9to5mac:

So whilst the 9to5mac staff believe him, you refuse to, and I have no idea how many visitors 9to5mac get.. but all of a sudden your defence of he's a nobody so he must be faking it is suddenly collapsing. Have a good day.
