No nice cases like the ones for the XS pair. Was hoping to get a folio type with an XR. Won't purchase one without a decent case. The transparent ones are for kids.

Also, clever of apple not to provide cases
. Hmm. The lack of a folio option like the one for the XS pair has put me off buying. Very clever marketing.

Coral 64GB XR delivery in 1-2 weeks. All the others available for delivery from Oct 26th to 30th. Portugal.

Coral and Yellow seem to be the least favorit option in my country.

But every model is still available on launch day, except some 64GB ones.

Ummmm.... if every color is still available, how do you know that Coral & Yellow are the least popular??
It seems like the only possible way you could surmise that is if every other color except those two were sold out.

I though the IUP allowed you to change the phone during the month you started it, I didn't know you had to wait for exactly 365 days. Are you sure you have to wait until the end of the month? We don't have the IUP here so I'm not an expert

You're right you don't have to wait but then you have to pay off the rest of the year + the £69 upfront cost to upgrade when you want. So I could technically do it now as I'm only in the 9th month of my payments I'd have to pay 2 months + £69 at once in store. If I wait until after 11 monthly payments (for me it's November 23) it's just the upfront cost.

doesn't really say anything about anything

- we don't know how many of each colour they produced, so we can't tell if certain colours are more popular or if Apple made fewer of those
- we don't know if demand is low or supply is high
- we don't know how the XS/XS Max launch 6 weeks ago will affect demand for this
- we don't know if the colour choice means more people will wait until they can see them in stores.

I wish Apple would have demo models in stores ahead of preorder day so you can get a feel for them - they must get thousands of returns from people speculatively buying a phone knowing they can return it if they don't like the colour. That would be reduced I think if they let you see them in the flesh before preorders opened.

I thought you didn't have to pay the upfront if you upgraded the phone on the same month, so I expected you to be able to pay the month on November in advance and get the phone on November 1.

In the UK, Yellow and Coral have both slipped to 1-2 weeks dispatch for 64GB models.
But still available for pick up in store lol

I think you guys overestimated the Xr, saying ‘it will fly off the shelves’.

It won’t.

It actually hasn’t been marketed very well and a lot of people aren’t aware of it.

Once it’s in stores I imagine it will sell better but a lot of people will be waiting for next years proper step up model.

This is exactly what I think. I think the XR will be a shelf warmer.

odt people buying the Xr are probably coming from an iPhone 7 or older for those people it is a huge step up. I can’t imagine the number of people going from a X to a Xr will be that huge

Of all the colours, I did not expect Yellow to sell out so quick. I figured, Red and Black would sell out first.
Yeah but I think you're assuming there's an equal number of each model available. Apple would have estimated which they would think would be the most popular and order more or less of each combination initially. So there may have just been less yellow ones available in the initial batch because apple anticipated they would be less popular. Maybe not, but it's a possibility.

I feel like it's also probably due to lower production of those colors in anticipation of lower demand, but that could just be my and my POV.

It appears yellow was the only color not available for in-store pickup, so you may be right.

Not selling out as fast as past years. I think the whole smartphone market is oversaturated. The good 'ole days are gone.

Early adopters and Apple diehard fans who want the latest and greatest drive launch day preorders. The XR is a phone that will have greater appeal to the general consumer on a regular upgrade cycle. These customers are lining up or waking at 3 am to preorder—they’ll stop in a store as they’re ready to upgrade.

I think Apple will sell a ton of the XR but it’ll be the a more persistent stream of sales throughout the year. People who just drop in to check out the iPhones will find the color variety and lower price of entry appealing and that’ll drive sales.

Yeah, I have to admit, it didn't occur to me at the time that they would produce different numbers of the colours. I suppose I'm just surprised that anyone wants the yellow at all. It's a bit bright lol.
