Who tells you that it’s not fixable?! It’s a simple bug, nothing else.

Why should apple respond to this garbage?!

If there is a problem, apple will fix it with an Softwareupdate within the next days, or affected devices will be replaced.

This gate sht is driving me crazy. Is there nothing else to worry about?
Why do you assume it can be fixed via software? Had it not crossed your mind it's a hardware issue?

Why? For reporting a issue for some users lthat means they charge their £1000+ iPhone! He is calling Apple out, he would do the same to any company if he thought it was wrong and he is looking at price here too. Hell you would expect more major bugs with a £200 phone but it seems not with Apple at the moment. Yes you expect the odd issue but not things like the LTE, WiFi, camera beauty mode and to top it off you can't charge the thing to experience the bugs anyway!

It feels like people on here are more worried about what their friends will think of their expensive phone because they and users on other platforms might see Lewis Hilsenteger's video and laugh or something? I mean its made by Apple and its so perfect and its never Apples fault if it goes wrong, but some on this forum would laugh like mad if were Samsung having the same issue. People really need to see constructive criticism for being just that and also the guy makes healthy millions from YouTube so yes he will make a dramatic video, its his job too. What he does do is call out any company, Samsung, Huawei etc if they are trying to pull the wool over people eyes, he is not just after Apple, the guy is pretty fair tbh.

Hilsenteger is just calling out faults on devices so users about to spend hard earned cash don't get a lemon, or in this case so people don't get caught out not being able to charge their phone, making it a pretty expensive paper weight. If you are offended because it upsets your iPhones public image, or your daily worship of a trillion dollar company that can do better, you have more problems than the phone has right now! Apple is letting to many bugs and hardware issues out the door and is riding on its name and lofty status and not caring about its users way to often these days. (yes I have a iPhone XS, iMac, iPad etc so I'm not a hater) I just don't like what I see right now from Apple.

Or his job is just making Youtube videos and getting lots of views? Don’t be so naive to think that he cares about any of you.

Well, same on iPhone 7 Plus since the introduction of USB accessory check. Would be less worth mentioning, if Apple didn't state that the device should charge if the accessory is not approved by user when introducing the feature. Anyway, I will not be very loud about this bug, as personally I havent't reported it to them yet. But still worth mentioning, as it clearly indicates that Apple doesn't check that the features work as advertised.
Let’s not pretend it’s possible to test every scenario.

This is the same tired argument as the bug that crashed iMessages.

When you sell 250M iPhones/yr, there will be a few issues, some more serious that others. If this impacted every iPhone, this would be front page news every day and Apple would have to address immediately.

This is clearly specific circumstances impacting only a subset of users.

Just a data point here, my XS has had none of the noted charging issues. It has reliably charged since receiving it.

'Serious problem'. It's a bug lol. Talk about clickbait. I'm not a huge Apple defender, but this guy is desperate.

It is a serious problem. It isn’t a huge issue to you because you’re not the one who Is traveling in a differen country where you don’t know the language, the area nor how to get around and your flight is in 5 hours.

Your brand new $1800 iPhone XS MAX is your guide.

You thought it was charging the night before and only come to find out that it’s in 8% battery and you have to leave the apartment in 20 minutes.

Yeah, not a serious problem eh ?

It is. And it’s BS.

Oh i have this happening on Mine. I am currently on vacation in the US and I blamed the crappy loose sockets there

Haha, the EU standard is by far the best plug you can get, the UK one might be stronger but it's too bulky, US is indeed one of the worst ones, and the states supposed to be all in on safety, well, not on their plugs.

As for the issue at Hand, my Xs has no problem charging, what it does have is bad call quality, I bought a (Folio) case for it, microphones are all free but people complain they can't always hear me well, I found out you shouldn't flip the lid to the back, this causes the microphone on the back in between the lenses to be (partly) blocked so call quality goes down the drain, if I mover the microphone which is nearest to my mouth (underside) just an inch people also complain, will be going back later on this week.

I'm cornfused by your post.

Under what circumstances? How often, and can you "make" it happen, or is it mostly randomish?

It’s consistent. Make the screen dark, plug in cable. Nothing happens. Touch the screen or raise the phone BOOM-phone vibrates, makes the charging sound, and the charging icon gets bigger. If you just leave it sitting there the phone won’t charge.

A few defectives iPhones I presume; still what a huge song & dance:rolleyes:.

Storm in a tea cup;my Max & 6 others i know of have no charging issues!!

I don't have one of the affected models and the phones do seem to have a fault but let's get things in perspective. It will be reported and I guess Apple will fix it in software or replace faulty phones.

This guy is not exactly Woodward and Bernstein. He is a bit over the top. Maybe he should be 'charged' with being a bit of a drama queen.

How Apple changed after Steve.

https://www.siliconvalley.com/2018/...fter-steve-jobs-death-former-engineer-claims/

“Many talented employees who’ve given part of their life for Apple were now regularly being disciplined and terminated for reporting issues they were expected to (report) during Mr. Jobs tenure,”
Wow, that is an eye-opening article, and confirms the kind of cynicism and over-the-top greed that I (and many other long-time Apple users) have felt has damaged Apple for the last few years. Remember how Apple got away with an income tax of 0.005% in Europe? But, Tim Cook is such a wonderful and caring liberal. Give me a break...

In all fairness, Mojave has been a pleasant improvement over the lacklustre High Sierra. However, I'm not touching iOS 12 anytime soon, because new iOS versions tend to decrease battery life. It took many updates to iOS 11, before its power consumption was at an iOS 10 level.

He might be a drama queen, thing is, he makes heaps of money with his channel.

1. Ireland
2. They didn't/don't get away with it. (Eu gave Apple a huge fine)

Looking at your post history, 1) you do not own a Xs or Xs Max and 2) you have been doing nothing but bashing the new phones, probably to justify you sticking by your X. Congrats on coming up with one of the most wild scenarios I have ever heard.

Also, who does not check to confirm their phone is charging before they go to bed? I have done this on all my iOS devices, dating back to 2009 when I had my 3rd Gen iPod Touch and my ****** LG flip phone.

Yup been there. Severe situation of you are also replying to work emails.

1: They got away with it (notice past tense) for several years, and Apple taxes much of their European income via Ireland, because that's how they get to pay the least amount of taxes. But they can always celebrate some X awareness day - ie. PR stunt. That said, Apple is far from the only American company doing shady business in Europe (though Apple took tax evasion to the next level), but at least EU pays attention to these corporate abuses.

2: Sounds promising, thanks for the heads up. Apple definitely upped their game this year, but still we see these unnecessary bugs. Don't get me started on Apple's software support for the iMac Pro for first 6 months, which was very uneven..

Yup, that's right, let's see what comes out of the case Apple/Ireland put up against the EU, if you go for other cases I give them little chance to win this case.

That's true of course, and nothing's gonna be perfect. However, we pay a large premium for Apple products, which have gotten increasingly more expensive over the last few years. Therefore, people tend to expect more from Apple, whether the expectations are reasonable or not.

You got that right. They all have bugs. Just bought my 1st Galaxy ever an S9+ back in May and this is hands down best amd nicest android ive ever had. Better than my LG V20 series and the 1 HTC I've had. I was window phone fanboi for a long time before Android. I can't wait to try an Iphone and maybe an Apple Watch next year.
