I see a lot of people bashing this guy. If it weren’t for people like him, Tim would be denying that this is an issue. All Tim cares about is share price, and how to maximize revenue in the short term for his bonus. He doesn’t care about quality, innovation, utility, or changing the world :)

He doesn’t care about all things that Jobs did to make Apple great.

And for those who have business 101 who say the purpose of a corporation is to maximize shareholder’s wealth, I think about how amazing and revenue would be if Steve was still around making products that people actually wanted!

He might be a drama queen, thing is, he makes heaps of money with his channel.

Perhaps this is why he's being called out. Stoking the flames on non-issues for his financial gain.
There's nothing wrong with holding Apple accountable, if it's truly warranted.

Not defending Apple on this but Lewis has to be the most obnoxious tech pretender on YouTube. His facts are rarely close to being accurate. He represents the ultimate evolution of click bait. The fact that he has so many subscribers amplifies the uninformed ultra short attention span of most humans today. His channel promotes the grimey underbelly of miss information regardless of the product involved. :apple:
It’s all about the clicks. Every time he runs a video he gets paid for all those ads that we are watching.

2. They didn't/don't get away with it. (Eu gave Apple a huge fine)

What actually happened was the Republic of Ireland was ordered to collect the taxes that Apple allegedly owes. No one was fined. That suggests taking money off someone they previously did not owe. The tax arrangements were declared as a form of illegal state aid and so the guilty party is actually the Republic of Ireland, not Apple.

We all know it’s a simple software fix. Everyone has them. I’d rather it be software than a hardware issue like a lot of other companies have.

Exactly. People are saying the issue is gone in the 12.1 beta release. So let's all just move on folks. My phone exhibits the issue, but it actually starts charging if I just let it sit for about 15-20 seconds. I suspect there are a lot of people on here in the same boat. It's just that they didn't wait long enough.

I'm experiencing this issue. But not really a big deal for me as I just exclusively use wireless charging anyway.

Good point. But then what else might be not working correctly, even wireless. Or what about times you’re away from a charging pad.

Signed,
Mr Optimist. :)

Just ordered an Apple refurb 7, hoping that buying a “geriatric” model like that has any kinks like that worked out by now.

I think what is truly pathetic is trying to use starving children to try and drive home a point. I truly have no idea how that point fits anywhere in this discussion, nor why it was raised to begin with.

Plus, I love how you lump a bunch of people into the same post and call us out for watching his video. I never watched it, nor did I comment anything regarding the content of the video. I simply called out the clickbait title. That makes up 99% of Unbox Therapy's videos: clickbait. His content isn't worth watching anyway, usually it's just a d*ck - err... spec sheet - measuring contest. All he seems to do is whine about Apple because they won't invite him to keynotes, just like Leo LaPorte.

I agree. The QA has been slipping a lot this year, especially with the new MacBooks, and now iPhones. It's a bug, it will be fixed. Should it have shipped like this? No, of course not. I was more commenting on the clickbait title of the video linked in the post than the issue itself.

The point about the starving kid was to try to bring some reality into the situation. There are much bigger problems in this world, that tend to go ignored by the spoiled elites (me included). Meanwhile you are literally getting worked up over a guy making youtube videos. You have to admit, it is kind of ridiculous :).

That's true of course, and nothing's gonna be perfect. However, we pay a large premium for Apple products, which have gotten increasingly more expensive over the last few years. Therefore, people tend to expect more from Apple, whether the expectations are reasonable or not.
As long as people keep buying phones for these increasing prices. Apple will get away with missing such silly bugs. These phones are obnoxiously expensive so agreed with now ULTRA PREMIUM pricing Apple should be held to even higher standards.

It kind of sounds like iPhones have become the new cigarettes. Think about it. Prices keep going up up up and because of the epidemic of phone addiction people will spend themselves into the poor house even if the damn thing cost $2000. By the way I fully expect to se a $2000 iPhone in the next few years.

He generally takes things about Apple out of context, and doesn't always understand the bigger picture. He also tends to grade Android on a massive curve.

I know, because I have an Android fanboy friend who loves sharing his videos with me. Lew's a moron.

Because Android tends to be priced on a massive curve.

I don’t. Stopped watching his stuff a loooong time ago. Didn’t watch this one either.

Nah, it’s you actually. I’m not the one who wrote multiple paragraphs complaining about someone making an opinion on a video.

Oh good one! The old I know you are but what am I. Never fails.

The Note is $1000. I’ve owned one and the damn thing had more software bugs than any Apple product I’ve owned...mostly because the devices are only supported a year and rarely get updated.

Apple shouldn't have rushed out the iPhones.
A simple bug in an otherwise insanely good software update in iOS 12 doesn’t mean anything was rushed.

Again, you simply CAN NOT test every scenario when your have 1.3B phones out there.

Maybe he does. Making heaps of money doesn't mean much other than that. It's not an indicator of much else. Many bad products do make money and if he does good luck to him and I hope he spends it quietly :)

I've never heard of him and I'm going to keep it that way.

I literally typed 118 characters including a quote from his title. I’m not worked up over his video or what he wrote, I’m more angry that people like you are shoving words in my mouth or using a crisis situation to try and make a point.

There are a lot bigger issues in this world than a YouTube video, yes. However using other people’s plight to make yourself look better is just terrible.

I am returning mine. It is simply not what I had hoped. But I am keeping my Apple Watch. Apple knocked it out of the park with this one.

Dude wtf. Are you arguing just to argue? IF Hardware is faulty, you wouldn’t get another faulty one.

Ehh not 100% true. Just look at the 2011 15 and 17” MacBook Pros. They had GPU problems that, while a board replacement fixed the issue in the short term, ended up rearing their ugly head again.

I do agree that Android is graded on a curve. Most are garbage, there are two or so great ones and when talking about Android vs Apple they grade them based on the most expensive better Galaxy phones that tend to cost about the same as an iPhone. So when they talk about Android cameras vs Apple for example, he/they lump the newest Pixel or Galaxy phone as one. That part I do agree.

The fact that this phone didn’t come with a USB type C charger (even if it was just on the outlet-end with lightning connecting to the phone,) is disgraceful. I have a $2,500 MacBook Pro and you’re telling me in order to connect that with my 2018 $1,000 iPhone X I have to buy a separate $20 cord? Come on... be reasonable...

Hey now. Your 1500$ phone came with a 5w charger and no 3.5mm to lightning connector. If they cannot afford that, they can hardly afford a USB type c connector.
