“Behaving like Windows”. What a child. Owned Windows PCs my entire life. Never had this issue.

Maybe, it’s “Behaving like a Mac!”

Cue down votes from fanboys.
Whilst I prefer a Mac and have only owned 7 Windows laptops over the years, not only have I never had this issue on them - I'd never even heard of it.

My MacBook Pro 16 however now always gets switched off as it drains the battery frequently during sleep. I've given up trying to fix it now.

Hi, after the update to the latest version of MacOs on MBP M1 13 '', my sony XM4 headphones can only be heard from the right ear cup; before the last update, however, they worked fine. On Iphone 12 Pro Max no problem with the latest OS. Someone else with this type of problem ? Thanks

Monterey removed aptX/AAC support in favor of another codec which is more energy efficient but lower sound quality especially in third party headsets. Previously in Catalina and BigSur you could use Xcode's Bluetooth Explorer app to force the use of aptX but with Monterey it's no longer possible, they actually made Bluetooth Explorer app incompatible with Monterey and no longer bundled with the latest XCode additional tools.

The problem is not quality but actually device not working as it’s suppose. The mouse sometimes stutters … need to connect and disconnect.

AirPods Max connects when I put it on. But if I receive a call on the iPhone, and answer … its hell. It commutes to the iPhone … ok. Get the call … hang up … connect back to the Mac is a luck affair. Sometimes it connects but no sound, sometimes it has sound but it’s all noisy, other times it does not even connect, need to put the Max back in its nickers, than back up to my ears.

Another situation is if eventually I need to remove from my ears for some reason has a hard time to connect back … does not connect, connects with noisy sound, connects with sound but no mic … other times is fine.

Final note. What is this thing that when the AirPods is out of its nickers the iPhone connects to it when receiving a call? I thought the thing was smart enough to detect when was in someone ears. It does partially, but not for this extremely annoying scenario.

Honestly implementation is far from stellar when it comes to the iMac support.

I think Apple enjoys a fair amount of good will from us in many aspects of their implementations.

So frustrating, I contacted support about this and they had me reset the PRAM and wipe the machine.
Turning off bluetooth solves it.
I guess they don't read the news.

Looks like it's still not time to upgrade. Glad I stuck with Big Sur. There's nothing new in Monterey with justifies these problems.

Check the balance settings, I had the same issue where suddenly balance is set to one cup only. :)

No!!! The issue was also on macOS 12.1! I thought macOS 12.2 would finally fix it, but it didn’t! But the exact same issue is for me since I have macOS Monterey (installed when macOS 12.1 was released). Also my external Monitor turns on sometimes. MacBook Pro 15-inch 2018. I also looked up everything in Terminal, same issue.
Yup, same here. I ended up writing a script triggered by the computer going to sleep to turn bluetooth off.

This has been the case with iOS on my iPhone too ever since iOS 14. When I let bluetooth enabled in the house, the battery is drained exponentially. One charge is drained in one afternoon while it is on the table not being used. When I turn BT off, I can use the phone the whole day.

I’ve the exact same problem but on an iPhone XR. I just sits there and loses 60% battery overnight in airplane mode (Wi-Fi/BT off)
Very hard to troubleshoot on an iPhone! Suspect it must be some kind of indexing. Have you looked in the battery info in settings? What does it say was using the battery overnight?

One suggestion I've seen is that it is to do with screen time. Do you have that turned on?

Had my Mac unexpectedly wake from sleep a bunch of times since macOS 12 was released. Mine is plugged into the mains 24/7 complemented with AlDente, so it hasn’t drained the battery, but it 100% would have if it was kept in a bag. This isn’t new to 12.2 as far as I can tell. Being a fan of Apple tech is becoming increasingly difficult. Every one of my devices now has at least one pretty seriously annoying bug, and the list just keeps getting longer with each new software release. Gone, their mojo has.

We got Microsoft Surfaces on my job, if we close the lids (sleep) when it's 100% charged and come back the next day our Surfaces are empty, fact.

I haven't experienced this myself (still on macOS 11.6.2), but does un-checking System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Advanced -> "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" solve the issue?

Most issues related to Bluetooth and sleep seem to get fixed by turning off that option, at the cost of your Bluetooth mouse/keyboard not being able to wake up your Mac.
That option no longer exists under Monterey... Good tip though..

Solution is: sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 25

Put it in hibernate mode and it will stay off and not drain the battery until you wake it again. Wake up time has some latency of about 4-5 seconds or so compared to the normal sleep mode (hibernatemode 3).

4 seconds vs dead battery from normal sleep. You choose.

I’ve been struggling with my Intel iMac waking up constantly since updating to 12.2, even on a desktop it is extremely frustrating. Nothing I tried seemed to help.

I found “powerd” mentioned a lot in the output of “pmset -g log”, but manually killing powerd didn’t change anything.

Doing more research I came across other problems related to powerd with one suggesting to create a scheduled start/wake; a feature I have never touched before.

Creating a start/wake schedule under System Preferences > Energy Saver > Schedule seems to have fixed powerd, and even after deleting the schedule again, my iMac now stay sleeping as before.

If anyone else see powerd mentioned a lot, give it a try.

I bet this explains why my 2020 5k iMac keeps cycling my external hard drives up and down almost non stop while it’s sleeping. I now shut it down if I’m not going to use it for awhile so the drives don’t wear out.

These workaround solutions are of course welcome, but they don’t help when you actually need a Bluetooth device to wake your computer. Mine is in pretty much permanent clamshell mode under a desk, connected to an external 4K monitor. I wake it using a Magic Trackpad. Fishing it all out and opening it up just to wake it from sleep is not a realistic option.

I've had this issue since 12.1 actually, but not specific to bluetooth, more about 'DarkWake from Deep Idle [CDN] : due to SMC.OutboxNotEmpty smc.70070000 wifibt wlan/' which is wifi generally.
Been through with apple support and send logs etc, only solid fix seems to be turning WiFi off entirely which isn't sustainable...

I’ve Screentime off and literally nothing is running in the background. I've even reset the phone and installed the latest iOS and with every connection, plus background updates and location services off I still get like a 50% drain. The battery is at 93%. It started behaving like this when I upgraded to iOS 15.

This issue is also causing Mac mini 2018 and some other desktops not to stay asleep. With my Mac mini 2018 i7 turning off the Apple keyboard and Apple Mouse and replacing it with my wired keyboard and mouse allows the unit to sleep normally. I am using Ethernet and have WiFi turned off.

I tested for it on my new MacBook Pro M1Max and found no problems - only because I do not connect any bluetooth devices to it. I am sure if I did I would see it.

Very frustrating, indeed. Please file a report on this battery drain issue at: http://feedback.apple.com/
