I think it is reasonable and justified to poke fun at Apple for this. This is the company that prides itself and presents itself as taking great pains to pay attention to detail... spending 9 hours to make the stainless steel wristband... filming a jellyfish at 500fps at a resolution of 9000x9000 pixels so that its motion can be captured perfectly... and so on.

To not have a disclaimer regarding tattoos indicates that they were caught unaware. That's the type of attention to detail that would've been covered.

Having said that, any disparaging remarks about those with tattoos, even in jest, is pathetic.

Maybe it works with most tattoos, and only a small amount of them don't work. Your assuming a lot here. Seemingly, even with people with no tattoos, it can fail; the condition for it failing must be incredibly varied, but rare, or Apple would detail them on their side.

I myself have four tattoos and if I had one on the wrist that made my watch not work properly, I wouldn't whining like a baby about it.

I'm guessing they have a no tattoo policy at Apple. It is a bit amazing they wouldn't have run into one tattooed person of all the employees they tested the watch on.

That is highly unlikely, because it doesn't really offer any benefit to the company or its culture.

I visit all different kinds of forums for a range of my interests and it never ceases to amaze/depress me the level of rudeness, entitlement and elitism I find here on the macrumor forums.

I wish people could stick to facts and stay on topic. Sarcasm is great with me, but when people say things blatently wrong or 100% not thought through... I am pushed away.

I always laugh at people who hate a product, but they are responding to comment number 250 - meaning they have spent all this time reading through something they don't really like.

One thing I noted first here is the title "SOME TATTOOS" .... So clearly SOME TATTOOS could have been tested with no issues noted.

Well...

Put yellow and green under the watch, it won't work.

If you want ugly crap on your skin, you will also find it harder to get a job serving the public. So you can't afford the watch. Problem solved.

Brilliant. :D

so it's not cool to judge people by their sexuality anymore, so people have to judge them by their tattoos instead?

people always be judging...

Funny and fitting. Nothing says trash quite like a tattoo.

Career options for the tatted up hipster crowd are already somewhat limited if you can't look normal in a shirt and slacks--no, no one is going to hire you to do more than pour coffee with that spider web on your neck. Now the Apple Watch goes further and discriminates against full sleeve tattoos too!

Wow, that was fast! Apple has apparently reacted quickly to this issue by releasing a low energy bluetooth accessory for folks with tattoos. Press release below:

Apple inc, Cupertino, April 29, 2014. For immediate release.
Apple is pleased to announce the release of the Apple Watch Rectal Probe Edition. About the size and shape of a small can of beans, when inserted in the anus the probe can accurately provide biometric data, syncing to the Apple Watch and providing life data for those whose skin is pigmented with nasty tattoos.

I was just going to post this.

I wonder if there is any impact on burn victims with major scaring? Or the extremely obese? Or people who bleach and color their body hair?

Major scaring would more then likely be a problem depending upon the scar. The others shouldn't be a problem.

In other news... fat people with huge wrists can't use the Apple Watch! Exactly how is this Apple problem? GTFO already. Click fodder on and on.

Personal choices that make you unique... well guess what now you are as you won't be one of the millions wearing an Apple Watch! You should be happy... ;)

I heard the prototypes are being wireless charged with a chair cushion charging pad that is also compatible with the 2" and greater C**k Ring Edition? (The < 2" C**k Ring Editions must be charged when removed because of the smaller form factor.)

Heard any other rumors?

Isn't his watch upside down how he placed it on both arms.....I didn't get my :apple:Watch yet, I got Tattoos on both areas where the sensors will be. I know it shouldn't matter how the watch is placed, still should be working.

Funny how so much comments about people "having tattoos screwed themselves over, since tattoos interfere with the sensors." Soon people with Tattoos will ask to make a bill the same way homosexuals have there own protections. Discriminating someone with Tattoos is the same thing as telling Bruce Jenner you are a man, not a woman. Bullying someone for how they express there self has a price to pay.
