Something loose in my iPhone 4

Mine comes from the top right by the hd camera. I only hear it when i set the phone down on that corner.

Mine does the EXACT same thing, I wonder what that is. It bothers me a little.

I hear the rattle too. I think it might be the motor for vibration. You can see in step 9 of the the ifixit.com teardown (http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/iPhone-4-Teardown/3130/2) that it is located at the top near the headphone jack.

I have a rattle also, coming from the rear camera. I can only hear it if it is set down on the counter or if I tap the back of the phone with my finger.

I thought maybe mine was bad but I checked 15 phones at my local apple store and everyone of them did it and they all sounded the same.

That's good to know I'm not the only one. I heard that noise when I sat my phone down @ work, I looked @ my phone bc I thought something was loose. I tapped the back by the camera & heard the same noise.

I get no rattle at all unless the bumper is on, in which case it's the sleep button on the bumper.

Same here. VERY mildly annoying that the sleep button rattles in the bumper though. Maybe I should try to get a free one

I'm so glad I didn't shell out money for this phone. The more I read about the faults in here, the less inclined I am to buy it. I think i'll stick with my sim free 3GS with IOS4 update - it's good enough for me and haven't had a single fault on it since purchase. No antenna issue, no yellow spots & no shake, rattle & roll

No rattle when shaken. Slight rattle when tapped on the back which could be the loose volume buttons my phone has.

It's the autofocus lens. Stop worrying and enjoy the new phone.

I think you guys are missing the point. Just heard it one day and thought it odd. I concluded it was the auto-focus lens and thats it.

I dont care. I dont think it is a defect, its just the way it is. It is not overly obvious, its jsut there every now and then.

omg for the last time the rattle is the camera. Cell Phone cameras that can focus on objects commonly have rattle. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE.

also, please realise the gyroscope and accelerometer are solid state components, there are no moving parts.

It is the power button, take a piece of tape, tape the button and see if it still rattles. Mine had that and I just fixed it

What's that noise?!

When placing the iPhone on the counter today or lightly dropping it in my other hand I noticed a rattle on the right hand corner near the camera.

Is this normal?

Mine makes that noise, if I lightly drop it on my sofa arm I can hear it - however if I shake it it doesn't make the noise... Hmmm
