I have a loose sleep/wake button on my phone as well that rattles. I just swapped mine out and noticed my new one happening. I was messing around with the phones in the store and noticed all their phones, the home button moves from side to side..

I understand what it means, but WHY would you make it your user name? Hahaha. Oh, dear.

Your name is LordOBoogie...

OBoogie was my first choice, but it was taken. It is a name John Lennon used as an alias: Dr. Winston O'Boogie.

Way to create thread drift on a post about the phone problems...just like a pro

I'm pretty sure it's the buttons in the bumper rattling against the phone or the hard parts of the bumper itself: mine does the same but there is no rattle with the bumper off.

Could you please explain? Not quite sure what you're saying..

I can physically move my home/wake button side to side and can hear rattle..

I don't know about your home-button, but the camera's internals are loose because they move due to the auto-focus. So if you tap the back of the phone near the camera lens you will hear a rattling sound that you won't hear if you shake the phone. That sound is normal.

I just got off the phone with AppleCare about this issue. Mark told me that others have been calling in with this same issue. He says no one really knows what the problem is. The issue is covered under warranty but he said that new phones won't be coming in for a while due to backorders.

My iPhone 4 does this, and so do the demo units in the Apple Store in Glasgow ... it's part of the build people.

I wonder what the next "issue" to be posted will be after the iPhone 4 autopsy moves to it's next stage ...

Those with the rattle - did you get a replacement?

If you had the loose and rattling lock button on your iPhone 4, did you get it swapped out at the Apple Store? If so, is your replacement any better? Did they give you any problems before they swapped it?

i've got the rattle... tagging along.

one of my volume buttons rattles and inside the camera which i'm convinced it's not an issue... i have a phone that works and no yellow tint or dead pixel. I hate to exchange this and get a worse one :(

I went to the apple store yesterday to check out every iPhone 4 display model. About 75% of them had loose home buttons (you can wiggle them side to side). About 25% had loose power buttons (wiggle side to side). My power button wiggles/rattles but everything else on the phone is almost perfect. This is my third phone and it just seems I'm trading in one problem for another so I'm just going to keep it.

I had mine replaced, I don't know if it was related to the rattling but I was having the "sim failure" problem. However the geniuses who looked at mine on two separate occasions could not determine where the rattle was coming from, they ruled out any of the buttons, speaker grate, or camera lens components, so it must have been something else that was loose. New phone is perfect so far.

I have everything working on mine.. The only lill thing is the green tint on low light pictures.
Should i exchange it or just wait for a software update?

Thanks

My phone seems to be OK except for the rattle and what appears to be an off-color screen. It seems to be dingy compared to my girlfriend's 16 GB model.

The rattle drives me nuts when I have the phone up to my ear and move around and can hear it shaking in my ear. Going tonight to the Apple Store to see if they'll swap it or laugh at me.

It's the autofocus lens for the camera... is there a rattle from somewhere else?
