Don’t apologize the XR is a beautiful phone and the LCD is very good no matter what some may say. For me OLED android phones/tablets always messed with my eyes and caused my head to hurt. The iPhone X was way better than all those androids but still caused some eye strain for me. I am happy Apple provided us such great specs in an LCD version.

I like all the XR colors and wanted them all (like Pokémon, lol). I preordered blue and had it for 10 days but swapped it for a white today and doubled my storage for only $50. Just something about having all white matching Apple products (matching my car too!!)

Moving from the X to the XR, how do the screens compare from your perspective, other than the X with some eye strain, such as clarity of text?

Well, mind the fact that I only had the X for barely a week last year due to headaches before going back to my 7+...obviously the XR has a bigger screen and slightly bigger bezel. The text was pretty clear on both but definitely noticeably clearer on the X. But for me it was almost too clear, ya know... probably caused the eye strain since I wear glasses though not sure if that plays a part in text clarity too.

The X size was a little small for my hands coming from the plus and XR just feels perfect. Had no issues in the 10 days of use with the Blue, just wanted more storage and a different color.

I used both XS and XS max in the Apple store last night and both were great screens and felt good in the hand but the ceiling lights in the store we’re not helping me get a real feel/test of either of those devices.

Hope this helps. My best advice is buy and test for yourself or try it out in a different store. Something about lighting at Apple that hurts my eyes from the get go. Gotta love Apples return policy if you buy and hate the XR.

Thanks. I misunderstood, thinking you had the X for a year. I have the XR and have compared it to the XS and Max. I know that the XR is supposed to be less clear, but I had trouble seeing the difference. I just had trouble justifying the price difference.

I recall putting a movie up on my iPhone 7+ and my iPhone X, and playing them side by side to compare, and other than size the 7+ had identical color quality and tone vs my X, with almost identical blacks.

I can see how an iPhone XR could have the best LCD screen on a phone, as the 7+ was pretty much three already.

the battery life on XR is incredible

It would be a serious challenge for the battery to die at the end of the day, as someone who doesnt game and watch hours and hours of video on an iPhone

Even with some GPS navigation!

I took the plunge and my new 128GB XR is here..

First impressions:
- felt heavy at first but after 10 mins I’m used to it
- size an issue so need to try it out for a while to see if I can get used to it. I probably have slightly smaller than average hands for a man of my height so this may take some getting used to/be a deal breaker
- Face ID is very good, although doesn’t work close up. Doubt it’ll be an issue as I tend not to hold it close to my face anyway!
- screen is very good, albeit no different to the 6
- camera is a slight improvement on the 6
- love the screen size and the bezels don’t bother me; yes, they are there and very noticeable but next to my 6 it’s a huge improvement and I won’t be comparing side by side with a x/xs so not really an issue.
- web browsing isn’t massively quicker than the 6, which is disappointing.
- wanted red but out of stock so opted for white. No issue really as white is nice and will be covered with a case anyway (if I keep it).

Initial thoughts - 60:40 against keeping it at the moment due to size. If I return this I’ll be opting for a sim free x as I refuse to go up to £1,149 for the Xs 256gb.

Just upgraded my 6s to the XR. Love it so far except for I miss the home button. Now to find a case I like....
I thought i would as well, and Touch ID, as I had become so accustomed to them. Within 10 mins I really wasn’t bothered which goes to show the importance of something. I remember before starting to use Touch ID how I never fancied doing it and it was pointless, how wrong I was. However, Face ID seems just a as good, if not better. At the end of the day, neither are imperative for life on earth but both are nice to have, so either is good for me.

For the past year I've used my iPhone X with face ID for almost everything mobile, and now when I occasionally pick up an iPad and have to put my finger on the touch sensor (such as accessing my passwords to log into a website), it pretty much comes as a surprise because I'm not used to having to take any action to log in.

I like that I can be wearing gloves in the winter, and grab my phone and ask Siri to load the camera, so I can take a picture with the physical button, but never have to take my gloves off.

Here's my unsolicited take: I love mine!

After almost two years of nothing but Android and only booting up my 6S Plus to play an odd game here or there, this thing is revelatory. Love the face unlock, love how its used to confirm everything, and am still in love with how optimized the apps are. And the notch? I actually like it. Sue me.

And those speakers!

Got a red 256 gig and am beyond content.

The battery life is hands down my favorite feature

My lifestyle has changed of not needing to incorporate charge plans between work and the rest of my day with life

I can’t believe the battery either! I pulled mine off the charger Wednesday morning, and when I put it on the charger last night (Thursday night), it had 9% battery left from that charge. Two full days’ use for me. Now, I don’t usually do a bunch of video watching or anything like that, but that’s with plenty of texting, phone use, usually at least an hour of games, reading forums, facebook and Instagram. I would’ve never gotten to that second morning with battery on my 8+, much less the entire second day. Hell I think my phone battery held up almost as good or better than my series 4 watch!

Yeah I’m sold for sure. I mean I like everything else about it anyway, but the battery is just awesome!

I never used it. Not really sure why but only thing I used was the keyboard trackpad which is still there so for me I’ve not lost anything as I never used it anyway.

Thought I was the only one. In the two years I had my 7+ I rarely used it. I forgot it was there most of the time. Once in a while I would long press for a shortcut and just think this isn't very useful to me. But I would try it for the novelty.

Didn't even know about the keyboard trackpad. What exactly is this that I might have been missing?

I did at one point try to use it but just never took it it at all. I had the 6s for two years and the 8 for year and think is used it twice.

When you’re typing press on the space bar like a 3D Touch and it turned the keyboard is to a trackpad so you can move to any part of what you’ve typed.

Gotcha. Which is essentially the same thing as long pressing on text you have typed and moving the cursor around. Which I find pretty easy to do.

Just bought 8 Plus and not this low ppi budget single camera phone. The screen also did not seem wide enough, but maybe it was the bezels all around.

May I ask why you are so favorable about the iPhone 8 versus the XR? I mean, specifically what don’t you like about the XR that your iPhone 8 has?

I can't really tell the difference between the screens on my XR and Max. Only playing movies in a darkened room would I be able to tell the difference.

I just went 48 hours on my XR - moderate use and it was still at 51% before I put on the charging mat.

The 8 plus feels like and is specced like a flagship. The Xr seems - to me - like a bad imitation of the X. Also I can’t go down to iPhone 4 ppi and screen width is key for me.

Anyway I chose 8 plus and gave my girlfriend the Xs Max as I like 8 plus better because of the weight and Touch ID.

The XR is better than the 8+ - I couldn't go back to a home button and all those bezels.

Agreed. I bought the 8+ last year instead of the X because I wasn’t ready to move on I guess - just liked the form factor and thought I’d hang onto it a couple of years. I felt the X was too small.

But then the XS Max got released, and I had mine on release day. I just HAD to have the best there was to offer, and I was super excited about having the same size phone with all that screen!

Well, the OLED got to me, and I couldn’t look at it for 10 minutes without getting a headache, so I returned it (first return of an Apple product ever), deciding at that point I’d definitely stick with my 8+ til next year for sure.

THEN the XRs got pre-released, and I was just itching for a new phone. I couldn’t help myself. Got my white 64gb on release day and I am absolutely thrilled with everything about it.

I was really nervous about losing Touch ID, but I am so glad I made the switch. This XR is probably one of my favorite phones yet.

I regret having only one “like” to give your post. :)
