If you never owned silver, then get silver first. If you owned silver before or want to stand out a little more from the crowd since almost every MB I see is silver, then change it up for space gray.

This is gonna be my first ever MacBook. I have never owned a Silver MacBook.

Silver would be my first choice if I never owned it in that color yet. But if you have, then sorta color code and differentiate your MacBook. Similar to when buying your second car. Do you really want it to be the same color as your first?

I am confused I have never owned a Silver MacBook so I really feel I should have a Silver MacBook but at the same time I also really wanna stand out from the crowd so don't know of Space Gray would help. But is there any merit in this talk that the screen blends well with Black Gray body then the Silver Body, the bezels for both are the same black right ?

Im afraid that dark colors can make fine scratches more apparent. Anyone with space gray color iphone confirm this?

My another concern is that, knowing apple by the history, they might release JETBLACK MacBook later while I plan to use this for long term period.. They always try to leave out a nice feature for "selling point" of later devices :(

saw this in store yesterday (13 non touch bar) and although it looks great, the scratches and scuffs were more noticeable.

You mean the Space Gray one right ? But most of the people would have some or the other cover put on it. That would make smudges less visible.

That's correct. Yes ,most people would have hard shell cases on them to protect their investments (like myself), but there are also those don't case them.

Frankly its a preference..

If everyone buys Space Gray (according to 9-to-5 poll)

Shouldn't you buy Silver to standout?

Mind=blown

(Yours will still stand out from the older machines because the lack of glowing Apple logo hehe)

Whoa ! Just saw that poll !! That's a heavy amount of people opting for Space Gray only ! That's massive !!

Usually the problem lies on the ports and palm resting area.

Ports get a lot of impact from mis aligning the plugs. Thankfully silver color doesnt show the scuffed area since the scuffed, inner side is also silver.

Also unless you cover the palm resting area (under keyboard) if you happen to drop something (key, pen, or whatever u were holding) by accident, it is the area where the impact will be..

I strongly believe that Space Gray option looks much more sleek. And the shiny Apple logo on the back of the machine looks nice on Space Gray option.
What's strongly more sleek is the old MacBook Pro design with the glowing Apple logo and the perfect keyboard

I wish there where more colours to choose from like a gold MacBook pro, maybe in another 4 to 5 years when Apple updates their MacBook Pros I can get a gold one lol.

I went with the silver one because I believe that it is a more elegant colour? I dunno, but every time I see a silver Macbook 12, the chrome logo against the matte finish of the lid just looks incredibly chic and tasteful. Plus, it's a colour that Steve Jobs personally chose, so there's that ahaha. On another note, I find it a little weird how Apple has seemingly phased out space grey on the iPhone 7 line, yet has continued with it on the macbooks? Perhaps space grey will be replaced with black in the next update.

Have you got the delivery of your Macbook yet ? can you post pictures of the top lid of what you are talking about, like the Silver body with chrome logo ?

Agree. Something about the Gray color was bothering me. I do like it on the iPhone, but on the computer the Silver is just beautiful. Odd because I don't like silver usually, like cars etc, I prefer white or black. But on Macs it is just perfection.

in these situations, I always ask myself, WWJCD?

what would johnny cash do?!

and obviously, johnny cash would get the darkest, most badass looking one they have.

space grey it is! order placed.

I'm going with silver because over time my iPhone 6s space grey finish started to wear off in spots and the bare silver would show through which annoyed me a lot. Also I saw the space grey in store 30min after they put out the display and it was already full of nasty smudges and fingerprints... anyways silver is classic... can't go wrong

For me, when faced with a difficult decision, I always ask what would Steve Jobs do? So that's why I chose silver then ahaha

I chose the 15 inch, so I'm still waiting, unfortunately. But there's plenty unboxings of the new silver 13-inch Macbook Pro and 12-inch Macbook on Youtube, so you could check them out I guess

is the fingerprint and smudges so visible and bad on the Space Grey ?
