I own the 2015 rMB 12" in Space Grey. Using it for well over a year now, the thing has held up great. I tend to take care of my electronics but compared to my previous MBAs and MBPs, I went without a case or keyboard cover with my rMB as that would defeat the purpose of its portability.

I've not banged it up against anything and I just carry it to my office and then carry it back home. Can't say that I've seen a lot of smudges or fingerprints on it, but then I am essentially the only one using it and there are not hundreds or thousands of people touching it on a daily basis, unlike demo units in Apple stores. The only real "wear" I've noticed on the machine is that some of the keys have a shine on them at certain angles based on the ones I've used more often (or in the case of the spacebar, where I push on it most often).

I tend to like darker colours (I've always bought the black or Space Grey iPhones) and the same has gone with the MacBooks. I will be getting the 2016 13" rMBP non-TB and I do plan to get it in SG as well.

I've always had silver, and just purchased an white and silver iPhone 7 Plus. So I think I'm going to stick with tradition and go Silver

My big issue right now is with or without Touch Bar.

I've gone for a space grey one just for a change as I've had silver Apple laptops for as long as they've made them to be honest. Space grey isn't as dark as the old powerbooks so its not quite a throwback to those!

I ordered space grey since it looks great in the videos and especially on apples web page. Then while I was waiting for my order to be shipped I went and checked it out at a store that just got them in and basically RAN home to cancel the order.

I get PC vibes from the space grey, those thin PC:s desperately trying to look like a mac. Its way too dark and looks dull and sad. I just didnt get that premium apple feel from it at all.

Nope, sorry not sorry, for me MacBooks should be in silver: classy, premium, elegant and not to mention finger print resistant.

I really recommend everyone to first check them out in person, they look very different in person compared to pictures.

Well Said. Kind of agree. No matter how much has been said. Silver does have a timeless aspect to it over the Space Gray. I am leaning towards the Silver, however I havent seen either of those in Person.

Defffo check it out in person first. Apple makes it look way lighter and prettier in its pictures. This is a pretty accurate picture of what it really looks like and for me thats just to dark and depressing looking:

Idk if its just the picture or what but the space grey macbooks i've seen in person look a lot nicer. And from all accounts, the new mbp should be the same color as the space grey macbooks...

not mbp though, bought the macbook core m3 in space grey, returned it for the silver core m5. the silver is timeless. space grey becomes dull and boring after 2-3 days of my usage. it felt not black enough, just dull. meanwhile the contrast in keyboard and the silver macbook is awesome.
I've got a space gray Ipad Air for 2 years and not bored yet. Don't see how it's dull.

Ive got one too and love it. The iPad makes sense in space grey plus you dont really see the back of it much. Laptop is different though. You are staring right at all that dark grey when using it.

Anyway it really is a matter of preference and Apple seem to be pushing the space grey really hard.

For me a shade just between space grey and silver wouldve been ideal.

Here's a picture of my space grey on top of 15".

This looks much darker than mine. I think the angle of the picture and the lighting make it look terrible.

Yeah lighting is pretty awful in that image. Just check them out in real life. It's not black, and it's much lighter than that image. Due to the anodisation technique the way the light reflects off it also changes the shade at different angles, which I really like.

The only reason that I bought a space gray is because I think the 12" one looks good in space gray ...

Are we SURE the macbook space grey = MBP space grey? Or is MBP space grey = iPhone 6 space grey (lighter) and not iPad air space grey?

I can't wrap my head around it. Ive watched pretty much all the videos and viewed countless pictures, plus seen a space grey macbook (not pro) in person. They seem to range from some dull almost blue shade, to dark grey, to gun metal according to light. Take the pictures in here for example:

It looks different in every single one.

My opinion stands though, the lighter space grey looks like plastic, the darker looks depressing.

It seems Apple wants to delete the Silver. There are literally no pictures or videos of the silver MBP out there, I'm desperately trying to find a picture of one with the lid closed so i can see the apple but no.

What do you guys think would you go for ? the Space Gray Colour or the Silver rMBP ? which looks chic ? I am confused !! I have got suggestions Space Gray Looks elegant but I feel Silver looks more classy and timeless even 5 years down the line it won't look bad. Don't know so much about Space Gray. What do you guys suggest ?

Space Gray hands down.

Looks the same as the retina macbook to me

Also, im pretty sure the reason why the silver macbook pro is barely shown is because it pretty much looks exactly the same as every model before, so theres really no need to show it off

My wife has the space grey 12", and I have the space grey 13".

They're roughly the same, but I want to say mine is a little lighter in color.

They're both nice colors.

This is what i see when I see the space grey macbook:
HP.png

*shivers* *vomits* *buys silver*

Still don't know why these companies (HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc) all keep coming out with new shell designs every year. Why don't they perfect a design, and go from there? Make the brand known for something. Good trackpads, good screens, good laptop shell, a design that's familiar and progresses rather than reinventing the design every year & looking like soon-to-be garbage repackaged over & over.

Thanks! If you want to publish a side by side picture that would be very appreciated!
