Will Apple include an adapter that lets you plug in the lightning EarPods into a Macbook?

For all of you who plug in their phones into the charger "all the time" and also have headphones plugged in, are you seriously going through your battery that much or do you just love plugging your phone in all the time, be it at your desk by your pc or just at home or hell near an outlet?

IMO thats bad for the phone and a lot of unnecessary charging unless your really going through your battery THAT much. I am for one excited that the headphone jack is going away, increases water resistant / water proofing ability and I dont have a problem using an adapter. I like the fact that lighting connected headphones can have a DAC built in AND I use bluetooth headphones anyway, So I'm not concerned at all about the change.

I'm looking forward to whoever it's gunna be at the keynote to drop the H-jack bomb. I can't wait to hear the justification... and the audience response. THATS gunna be the highlight of the event. This will be worthy of a box of popcorn. Entertainment at its finest.

I expected they update the iPhones with a new lightning to USB-C cable.
It will be really strange to change the USB ports on the macbook in October and have an old USB with your iPhone...

They will add Lightning ports to all Macs after the headphone jack is removed from the iPhone.

so apparently, charging, and using headphones is a huge deal breaker lol

I wouldn't call it a deal breaker but it is something I do.
I don't listen to music but make a lot of phone calls and it is really convenient to have the headphone so my hands are free and I can type on the keyboard and use the mouse. Sometimes I need to charge the iPhone so I'm using the lighting port for that.
Of course I can live without the headphone jack, I'm not on the phone 100% of the time.
Since I make a lot of calls I have my headphones always connected during the day, without the 3.5 jack I'd have to plug in and out the headphones at least twice a day, not a big deal but it is an inconvenience. And I don't really care about audio quality while making phone calls, so a lighting headphone won't be better

I feel sad.

I'll probably still get the iPhone 7 Plus because I upgrade every year selling my existing model to cover more than half of the upgrade price. But, I just feel Apple is taking the piss this time.

Largely the same design.

32, 128 and 256 GB storage. 32 is not enough and 128 is likely too much, 64GB was (is) perfect for me.

No screen improvement (resolution likely the same - based on rumours only)

Loss of headphone jack for no apparent reason. If it's for a bigger battery, then why can Samsung do both (and in a smaller footprint?)

Apple are getting lazy in my view, and greedy.

Totally agree 100%

Phil Schiller will announce the ONE MORE THING, "the all new lightning to headphone jack adapter! Can no longer innovate my ass!". :D

What I'd really like to see is the resolution on these new devices.
The FHD on the Plus size is still kind of acceptable but the 750p on the standard size device is a joke.
What I'd like to see is FHD on the 7 and QHD on the 7 Plus.

I want to see photos that match the aspect ratio of the screen. It has always seemed silly to me to letterbox the camera.

So, what are everyone's guesses on storage tiers? We can assume 32GB at the base, and 256GB at the top (maybe Plus only?). Will there be 4 levels for the Plus model? Or 32/64/256?
I think it will be 32/128/256 for both.

More importantly, it even mentions lightning to 3.5mm included in the box. I think it's excellent for users if Apple does include it, but I think it's a mistake for Apple as it shows there's a need for 3.5mm still and they've removed it.

You can't say "wireless is the future, here are some wired headphones".
They have to claim "THESE wired headphones are better". Which is a harder case to make, since all it's really doing is moving the DAC to the other side of the plug.

I called it! Putting wireless headphones in would have been a colossal mistake. Using this adapter for a smoother transition to use 3.5 to Lightning makes a LOT more sense this way. You just don't jump from 3.5 to BT wireless abruptly pissing off customers. That's a bad way to burn them and make them want to switch to Android.

Including the adapter is not only an acknowledgement they made a mistake removing the headphone jack, but also encouraging customers to continue using their old cheaper 3.5mm equipment, possibly without ever even trying the new Lightning earbuds also included in the box.

if there's an adapter in the box, my bet is that it will be a 3.5mm (source) to Lightning headphone adapter, which many customers will need to use their new Lightning headphones with their old legacy Macs, iPods, and iPads without Lightning jacks. This adapter could be extremely cheap in that it merely passes through an analogue signal to the headphones, which through a smart chip, instruct the Lightning circuitry to bypass the DAC and send directly to the headphones. It just doesn't make any sense that they would convert an analogue signal to digital just to get it into the headphones and then convert it back to analogue.

The dock is solving a problem that doesn't need to be solved. My $6 Monoprice cable works fine with my 6 today.
Then keep your 6. I'll be upgrading to a 7+. The problem you have won't affect me, and I want the new dual-lens camera as well as the 3D Touch features.

I was just saying that if you decide to upgrade to a 7, you (but not everyone!) will have a problem that needs to be solved, and there is a solution available already. Likely Monoprice will be able to help if you don't like Apple's dock.

These lunatics will probably also remove the headphone jack from the MacBooks.

They likely will from the Retina MB. There's no room for both, and a Lightning port offers so many more options to a single-port challenged laptop.

If they really are including an adapter in the box, this is what I'm expecting.

lol apple if you think I'll be purchasing a iPhone 7.

As a hardcore Apple fanboy for the last 20 years or so I'm done.

Apple is a fashion company now, a brand for idiots to fawn over and for people to make it in a status symbol. Plus no headphone jack? Screw that. I have lots of headphones and I don't want to use another adapter, how many stupid Apple adapters do we need? At one point I had a stack of adapters to use my iPhone in my car. One to switch the iPod cable from FireWire to USB power, one to switch of from 30 pin to Lightinjng one that will me use the adapters with a Apple branded case.

I'll use my 6 Plus till it dies, but my next phone won't be Apple.

The bottom line is Apple makes crappy products these days and they don't even care anymore. I don't care anymore either.

Good bye.
