You're not using it wrong. You just have a use case that doesn't apply to everyone. Find an adapter that lets you continue using it the way you currently do. Most won't need that adapter.
Seriously? You're trying to use logic on people at MacRumors?

As another user pointed out, Apple uses the term headphone jack a lot. It is on every Tech Specs page of a product with one.If you look at the Apple Style Guide, headphone jack is perfectly acceptable

They'll win.
I appreciate it's one of the oldest port in audio but look at the 30-pin Connector. Everyone freaked out when they switched that for the Lightning Connector.
True video out. What functionality did we lose with the switch from 30-pin to Lightning?
They can't win. If they include an adapter, people complain. If they don't, people complain.
They'll win.

My point is that I don't think Apple will call the adapter the "Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter". That would be like calling the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter the "Lightning to 30-pin Port Adapter". The port - and jack - are superfluous.
From Apple? We've all read instructions and guides that are way more dodgy than this.
Finally !!!!
I hate the 3.5 mm audio jack ... it's old and useless most of the time.
True video out.
Analogue audio out without separate DAC.
Without a good codec (aptX or something better), there is no future in wireless sound via Bluetooth on iPhones. The reason Apple doesn't use aptX is because of a licence fee that Apple doesn't want to pay for that, just because the massive profits are more important than acutally using something good and usefull.
I thought the iPhone can carry on two BT connections? I routinely have my watch and some other connection going (car, ear phones, or satellite speaker). If BT audio is the future then we are in for one seriously dystopian future.
If an iPhone could pair with multiple devices at once then that may at least be considered an advantage. But it cannot. If you're listening to music, you cannot pair a BT keyboard to your phone. You can't pair it to your car. And the BT connection will drop out from time to time, because BT sucks.
More importantly, it even mentions lightning to 3.5mm included in the box. I think it's excellent for users if Apple does include it, but I think it's a mistake for Apple as it shows there's a need for 3.5mm still and they've removed it.

A headphone jack, a charger, a proprietary interface!
Are you getting it? These are not three separate ports!"
To charge, or to use my headphones... Ah, the dilemma, brought to you by Apple. Innovation at its' best!
Do i really read Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter?
I'm definitely going in on the 256GB model.
The iPhone 7 is going to be a truly incredible device. I'm so excited!!!

Time to coordinate your talking points, fanboy.

As an Apple person and someone who has had every iPhone from the 3G on -- Keep telling yourself that. Lol
iPhone 7 is going to be nice but not a "truly incredible device". iOS10 is good but not "great". I don't anticipate the iPhone 7 being amazing either. Camera update, storage, memory update. That's about it.
Still a brand new phone, casing is different, internals are different, improvements to speakers, screen, and home button to be expected. Performance increase should be significant, probably specific software features as well. At some point, we'll just have a screen, the casing won't even matter.
I guess the iPhone 6s will be available in just 16gb and 64 gb after the iPhone 7.32>128>256 but the jump from 32>128 will be $150. Apple can say to 64GB owners you get 2x the storage for only $50. Anything to raise those ASPs.
