Anyone thinking on replacing the micro-suction part of the case with a magnet? looking at the case, the bar can be easily replaced with a same size refrigerator magnet and it aligns perfect with the right side of the screen bezel.

I wonder if it will be enough to hold the cover closed.

Wow, that case is UUUUUUUGLY. I think it's the big sea of black that has the finish of a used tire. Oofa.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but it's interesting that out of 7 pages and 150 posts, you seem to be the only one with that opinion here.

My husband got me a flat panel hd tv for christmas and I noticed a small speck that light was shining through.

Huh??

Really like this case. I really like the way the tab locks in to keep the cover rolled up. Seems simple but works really well. This ones a keeper. Pretty sure my STM skinny will be going back (hate the flap. Doesn't bother the wife but drives me crazy for some reason)
Took a few min to get on but it probably won't be taking it on and off so, no problem

I had this idea too, I think I may have mentioned it on a previous page. I don't see why this wouldn't work. I assume it won't be long until someone tries this and I'm anxious to see how it goes.

iLounge has a review of this cover:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/speck-pixelskin-hd-wrap-for-ipad-2/

It got an A- Highly Recommended.

I ordered the blue case last week for $32 from PCSuperStore

http://www.pcsuperstore.com/products/11341515-Speck_Products-SPKA0415.html

Waiting for it to come in is like torture.

Wow that's an awesome price! Don't know if you saw or not, but if you click on the link to verify stock it shows it's estimated delivery date is May 5th. I don't know how much you paid for shipping but if it's worth it to you you would probably have a better chance cancelling your order there and picking it up at a store.

Paid $8 for shipping, ground. It shipping from 2 states away so it shouldn't take too long.

Thing is the Target stores only have the black version. We want the blue or pink. My wife and daughter are the main users and black does not fit their style ;) Plus, I think the blue, or Cobalt, is pretty sweet looking.

However, if Target ends up carrying the Blue version I may pick it up. But to save about $18, I think I'll just wait it out :)

My local Target had about 5 of these hanging on the accessory rack. I pulled one out of the box to inspect it and while I have this case on my iPhone 4, I want something nicer for my iPad.

Also, I already have the Yoobao case. While it's flawed (sleep/wake function is a bit flaky) the Speck case doesn't improve on that since it doesn't even offer that feature so I could see no reason to buy this. The Yoobao is also a slimmer case and made with leather rather than plastic.

If you don't already have a case it would probably work well but I'd certainly wait until it's not $39.99, or find it online.

Appreciate the opinion but reviews have been gushing for the PixelSkin HD and all I've heard about the Yooboa cases are that they smell atrocious. How does yours smell? Also not a big fan of leather. A big scratch on leather looks awful (especially cheap chinese leather) while on a plastic case looks less drastic.

Today I tried putting a magnet on top of the micro-suction bar, but it didn't turn on/off the iPad. The bar is off by maybe 1/4 of an inch from the magnet in the iPad bezel that activates the on/off function. :(

Still, I'm in love with this case.

Picked mine up at lunch, can't wait to get home and put it on!

For the person talking about the Yoobao, I like the look of this one better, doesn't cover up the bezel which I think makes it look much nicer! I can live without the wake/sleep function

Picked one up from a Target close to home. Was a bit difficult getting it on, but got it on with a little elbow grease.

It's definitely nice and thin and folds back completely flat, but just has that one reading/typing angle.

More than that, though, at least subjectively it seems to kinda weigh down the iPad 2.

I had an iLuv case from Amazon on the iPad 2 before getting this, and I don't remember the iPad feeling so heavy with that on. Granted, the iLuv was only a case for the back of the iPad and didn't afford any protection to the screen at all. I'm guessing the front cover of the Speck adds some considerable weight (relatively speaking of course...we're talking ounces here) to the iPad 2.

Just my two cents. By the way, I guess I could've tried weighing the empty Speck case before putting it on but now that I got it on, I don't think I want to take it off just to weigh. Regardless, I don't have a postal type scale at home that could accurately weigh the empty case.

Some pics on both white and black iPads. I realize the pics aren't the best, but get's the job done.

Very thin indeed....

No postage scale, but it can't weight much more than a pound. It's very light.

Got one too and remove the thin incase! The micro suction is fun lol!

Ging to BB now to return the incase

ugh... I really wish my local target had this. :(

Looks nice, hope they add more color options (other than the blue and pink).

Just picked one up.

Exactly what I've been looking for.

Like the HD for iPhone 4, I think this will be "the" case for the iPad 2.

Zero smell.

Just a hint of space in the middle of the long side opposite the hinge/spine. If that bothered you, a little film would snug it up methinks.

Adds some weight, but the feel is still solid & balanced.

... and, this thread will get loooooong! ;)

He's not alone. I'm glad I went with the fitfolio. There's something about this one. I can't pinpoint it but it's just not too attractive looking IMO.

The smell on the Yoobao is temporary and has completely disappeared on mine. Additionally, there was another Speck case at Target (fitfolio) and sure enough, it had an extremely strong chemical smell. I think this is to be expected when companies are trying to get new product out from the factory ASAP. If I didn't already have a case the Speck was at the top of my list but if I buy another case I want it to properly implement the sleep/wake function.

No, I actually thnk it's ugly, too.

man, that is one ugly case, blaaaa.

Yeah they like it almost as much as I do. I think it's funny that the magnet thing is such a concern to some people. The suction works great, and I don't care about a magnet putting my IPad 2 to sleep or waking it up. I'm sure it would be nice to have, but that's the least thing that I care about.

I find it very amusing that everyone that loves this case thinks the magnet thingy is no big deal. It's one of the top features of the iPad2, yet this case didn't bother to incorporate it into its design? What genius came up with that idea? Aside from the lack of sleep/wake, the thing is downright hideous. Looks like a tire. Lame, lame, lame.

So I have been using this case for the greater part of this afternoon and will use it through the night leading up to my video shoot on this case tomorrow but here are my initial thoughts:

1. Build quality is very good, no issues with the look or quality of materials used.

2. Make no mistake this is a simple folio with limited functionality and should not be compared to cases like the Marware C.E.O or SwitchEasy Canvas. This case only really works in 3 positions. A) Folded back like a book B) Typing stand/angle C) Viewing position (only 1 available).

3. If you plan on using it in a book like position the micro suction is somewhat sticky and will grab lint, etc... so you really need to keep that area clean to prevent these materials from touching your screen. The reason I mention this is because in book position the micro suction is placed right where your hand will go. The micro suction also tends to leave a slight mark on the screen (it can be wiped off).

4. Stability in the view stand mode on anything but a table is not stable. I tend to watch movies or browse the web in bed with the iPad on my lap and this case will not work out on an uneven surface like your lap - especially if you don't plan to hold it.

5. The volume buttons while easy to press do take some of that *click* away from the natural button press of the iPad.

Again, I'll shoot a video on this case tomorrow and then also plan to do a head to head with some other cases but right now these are my initial impressions.

For those of you who wanted a case similar to the apple iPad 1 case but in a different material this might be the one for you. For me I have a few concerns about it that push it out of the running for me regardless of how nice it feels in the hand and how beautiful it is.

Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

I'm really surprise people like you still don't get it and I don't mean this case. The iPad caters to many different people, which also means many different tastes and that includes accessories. If every case maker made a case based on what you think the majority of users want, then we'd have a bunch of similar boring a$$ cases. The reason case makers can afford to do their own spin on an iPad case and still be successful is because there is a wide range of users.
