Totally disagree... Tried space grey one on yesterday with black band loved it.. Tried SS and didn't feel see real difference except the cost.. I'm very happy with the sport I ordered..

I totally agree. Apple's SS didn't feel any different to me than the Sport. If you have a nice stainless automatic watch already then the Apple SS is a little bit of let down IMO.

I ordered a silver sport one only because I was to late for the SpaceGrey Sport window.

I always thought it looks cheap, but now I have seen it with the Milanese loop and I Love it!

Don't like shiny watches so the RVS is not for me anyways but Sport with Milanese is a good second option.

I don't think Glass on the sport is that of a Step back, I got gorilla glass on my Pebble Steel and it has not one Scratch on it after one year. It's not a phone or something, a watch does not make contact with hard object witch can scratch it.

To each their own. I think the Stainless steel looks great, but so does the aluminum sport. I have a very nice stainless steel watch already to wear at formal events with coworkers or other special events. Other than that, I have ordered a black sport band and a blue leather loop for my aluminum sport. I believe it will still look great to wear at the office as well as just socially.

No need to out either down. There are pluses and minuses to both versions. Maybe next year I'll spring for the stainless steel but I'm quite pleased with the aluminum sport for now.

ITT: People trying to justify their SS purchase.

On a more serious note, I do believe that the Sport has a real place for many people. There are those of us that value and prioritize a sporty, healthy aesthetic over others. No matter what anyone says, it isn't all about the money. We need to stop thinking of watch selection as a shorthand for net worth of the wearer. I bought the Sport when I could afford the SS. It is a matter of personal taste and image.

Right. I can afford a SS model, but personally, anything really shiny to me looks cheap. (Hate chrome looking stuff )

Anyways, I go to the gym and traditionally dress in a more comfortable, sporty clothes, so the SG Sport is perfect. Not a matter of money, but style and I think Apple understands that. Apparently some people don't.

Do you have a picture of this combo? I've been looking everywhere!

Never heard the saying "hey look at my nice new dull watch" lol....now I have heard the saying "hey look at my nice new shinny watch"

Is it that hard to believe that tastes could be different? I already have a stainless steel watch. I think the aluminum looks sharp, especially with the leather loop bands.

I could have bought the SS Apple Watch, but decided against it this year. Maybe in one or two years with a newer version, but for now the Sport is a perfectly nice watch.

I don't think that the sports edition looks cheap. It's just that the Apple Watch (SS) looks more premium. As a first gen product I probably should've gotten the sports edition but I plan to keep this Watch at least until the third version comes out so I went with stainless steel. I just hope that the bands will always remain compatible.

This is what I'm doing - Apple Watch Sport with the blue leather loop. I'd say it looks pretty good. I'm quite pleased with my choice. Next year or a few years from now I'll buy the new Apple Watch stainless steel version. For now, this works quite well for me. Hopefully everyone is pleased with their decision no matter which version they chose.

I'll comment. It's great that you think the sport watch looks cheap and a knockoff. I'm sure many think that any watch that isn't gold looks cheap and like a knockoff as well.

It' s a 1st gen product, and i can't justify $600 - so i guess i'm stuck with a cheap piece of junk that i'm actually really excited about getting. My $30 levi jeans may look like trash to you with your $400 pair of jeans, but it's what i can afford.

Enjoy your caviar - i'm getting chipotle.

what a great post

It's designed to look cheap and like a knockoff. Apple needs a way to justify the pricing of their $550-$600 watch product, so they make the $350-$400 product look cheap in comparison.

I just don't get the sudden perception that aluminum is cheap-looking. For years, Apple has been the mainstay of quality products from the iPhone to Macs and aluminum has been a staple of them all. Suddenly, a steel product is available for a few hundred dollars more and aluminum is cheap-looking and ugly.

I get that some people prefer the SS to aluminum; it's a question of personal taste and for plenty of folks a quality watch should be either steel or gold or what-have-you. But this derision of the Sport Watch because it's aluminum just rings hollow to me after years of aluminum Apple devices.

Your kids got nice taste. They said its kids watch because they want it, and not the cheap Sport version.

No need for the offensive wording. Some people prefer the aluminum look. Just because you don't doesn't make it "cheap." Different strokes for different folks.

Your offensive interpretation of "cheap" :)

It is indeed cheaper than other Apple Watches quite literally.

If you plan on wearing this watch every day it's a no brainier to go with the SS model. The glass crystal on the sport model will not hold up to daily wear. It will be scratched in short order. Watches take a lot of abuse and you will smack it on things.

I just got back from my try on. I loved the space grey sport and I'm happy that's what I preordered.

I did love the Milanese loop though, that's a stunning band.

This is pure speculation on your part until some kind of durability tests are done on the watch screen. Honestly, the glass on my iPhone 6+ has been dropped and put in pockets with keys and all manner of other incidents and it hasn't got a visible scratch on it.

So now suddenly aluminum is cheap and ugly looking, and strengthened glass is not strong enough to handle daily use.

No not good taste just likes shiny tacky things!

No brainier??? I don't think you have the insight to say any Apple watch selection is a "no brainier" that would clearly be speculation and opinion. I have a watch with a glass crystal that I've had for 10 years and wore it every day with no scratches and it's not even as tough as the glass on the sports edition. Now the case is stainless steel and is scratched to hell.

Like my buddy said " The Sport is like the 5C of the Apple Watch " Same colors and same cheapness. I'm glad he talked me into getting the Watch instead.

You can't put ANY band on a SPORT watch except a SPORT band.
